St. Ives Apricot Scrub
by dooberry77
I like to look after my skin and exfoliate on a regular basis. St Ives apricot scrub is one of my favourite exfoliators, it leaves my skin feeling soft as well as clean. There are a few different scrubs available from the range and today I am reviewing the 'blemish fighting' scrub.
The packaging
The product comes in a ... white 150ml tube with a clear plastic lid at the bottom. It has a new look compared to the product picture displayed above. The brand logo 'St Ives' is clearly displayed on the front in blue letters. Underneath the logo it says that it is a blemish fighting apricot scrub. At the top of the tube there is a picture of some apricots and it says that it is the UK's no.1 scrub brand. On the back of the tube it gives you a bit of information about the product, the directions, ingredients, shelf life (12 months) and some contact information for the brand.
The product.
The product itself is a creamy white colour with small brown bits in it. It has a thick gritty consistency which is how it exfoliates the skin. The small particles it has gives the skin a real deep cleanse. It has a nice fresh slightly fruity smell to it. You need to moisten your face with water before application and to apply simply flip open the plastic lid and gently squeeze out the desired amount onto the fingertips and massage over the face and then rinse off.
The benefits.
- Paraben and phthalates free
- Oil free
- Blemish fighting
- Lifts away surface oils and dirt
- Leaves skin soft and clean
Price and availability.
The product is available from beauty stores, some supermarkets and on line and usually retails between £3.99 and £4.29. I recently purchased it from Sainsbury's for £3.99 for the 150ml tube.
My verdict.
This is a great exfoliating scrub, it really leaves my skin soft and feeling really clean and fresh. The consistency is just right, it's not too abrasive or too mild. It does say to use the product 3 to 4 times a week for best results but I find once or twice a week is enough for me. I would definitely recommend this product, a super big 5 stars. Garnier Skin Naturals Moisture Match
by koshkha
When I requested that Garnier Moisture Match cream be added to the Dooyoo product list I specified one particular version - the 'Goodbye Dry' variant. By that time I knew I liked the product so much that I'd want to try others in the range and probably review those too. Sadly, the whole lot got added as a single listing which is a shame ... as each of the creams is quite different. That's pretty much the point of the range, that you should pick the one that matches the moisture demands of your particular skin.
I bought my first tube in Superdrug back at Christmas time when I was visiting my parents. The weather was cold and miserable and my skin was fed up of the chilling conditions. I wanted something substantial, a moisturiser that could stand up to Arctic winds without fear and the product I chose was Goodbye Dry which is designed for 'Dry to Very Dry' skin. I'm not normally very dry but my skin is more towards the dry end of the spectrum and the harsh weather and unforgiving central heating in the office where I work combine to make the mid winter a challenging time.
I paid just £3.99 for my tube as it was on special offer. I liked it so much that I went back a few weeks later to get some more and also picked up two more types in the range.
The Moisture Match range contains five different creams. There's one called 'Shine be Gone' for people with oily or combination skin, 'Wake Me Up' for 'dull skin' (whatever that means), 'Protect and Glow' for normal skin, 'Start Afresh' for normal to dry skin and 'Goodbye Dry' for dry to very dry skin. Each is sold in a box with a white background but is differentiated by highlights in a colour that matches the tube inside. 'Goodbye Dry' is the pink one and I also have 'Start Afresh' in blue, which I've not opened yet, and 'Protect and Glow' in yellow which contains a sunscreen rated SPF 20. I used that last one on my holidays in Portugal but the weather was so lousy that I didn't really get to test the sun effectiveness.
I've recently finished my pink tube and feel I know enough about it to review the Goodbye Dry variant.
The product comes in a 50ml tube which is designed to stand on its cap and which means it's usually easier to dispense than from a flat-lying tube. The colour of the tube is a baby pink, the sort of thing you'd expect from Johnson's Baby Lotion. There's very little information on the tube other than the name in a bunch of different languages - who knew the Finnish for 'dry and very dry skin'? - the company contact details and indications that the tube can be recycled and the contents are safe for 12 months after opening. All the instructions for use, ingredient info and suchlike are probably on the box which I threw away long ago.
The product squeezes out of the tube as a light pink cream with a delicate but pretty scent of camellia oil. I like the smell - it's simple and clean without being too 'cheap' or synthetic. It smells like a much more expensive cream than it is. Despite being very rich, a blob the size of a small pea is all I need to spread this all over my face and neck. It feels really thick and creamy but it doesn't leave my skin feeling at all greasy. I'm very impressed with the texture and the spreadability.
Within a few minutes of applying it, any dryness or tightness is gone and my skin feels really soft and smooth. The product claims to be both non-greasy and easily absorbed and for me, both those things are true. It's also suitable for sensitive skin and whilst my skin is only occasionally sensitive, I've had no problems with this cream at all. Although the cream claims to be for 24 hour protection, in the depths of winter I like to use it twice a day. Now that things are hopefully warming up a bit, I am hoping to be able to get my yellow tube out and start taking advantage of the SPF 20 in 'Protect and Glow'. And when it gets cold again, I'm already set up for next winter with a spare 'Goodbye Dry'.
For those who care about such things, none of the range contains parabens. I don't care but I know a lot of people do.
If you want an excellent quality moisturiser that's perfect for dry to very dry and sensitive skin and you'd rather pay a few pound than have to starve yourself for a month to save up for a luxury brand, then this might be just the cream for you. I buy plenty of posh creams too (usually on offer, I admit) but this is a fantastically effective budget intense moisturiser that doesn't 'feel' budget at all. Read the complete review |
