Derma V10 Tinted 2 in 1 Eye Roll On
by askmeanything
Ten Years Younger!
The derma V10 tinted two in one tinted concealer product was purchased, by me, after a week of sleepless nights which caused dark circles under my eyes. This is a two in one product as it is designed to camouflage the dark circles but also any skin flaws. It was an emergency measure. I didn't even stop to ... look at how many chemical nasties there might be in the ingredients list. The ingredient caffeine is designed to revive the skin and the lime to freshen your eyes up. The product is best for oily skin which, on the whole, is probably, where I fit in on the scale. On the box it is boldly advertised, 'Ten Years Younger'. I take this to me that I will look younger, by a decade, after daily use, but the specifics of how long, and the science to back it up, is not really explained but it's a great headline grabber.
The derma V10 tinted 2 in 1 roller was, I think, in Home Bargains and I can't recall the cost. I see it is on Amazon for £5.70 but I know I didn't pay as much as that.
Roll and Dry:
In order to conceal dark, under-eye bags, the company advice daily use, in the morning, for achievement of the best results. Uncap the product to expose the metal ball and very lightly roll it underneath the eyes. Keep it thin and controlled. The container is easy to hold and the concealer won't rush out. Next, use fingertips to gently blend in and allow to dry. This product can be used with or without make-up. It seems go quite far if not applied liberally.
Colour:
Oops I did it again! I failed to colour co-ordinate with my olive complexion. Doh! This is for pale skin. I was so desperate for the eye circles to go that I didn't care when the concealer looked a bit light under my eyes. This is what sleeplessness does; it makes a person desperate and they fall for terms such as, 'Ten Years Younger' on an impulse buy. I don't think it was too obvious as no one commented, or stared, so I think I got away with it.
Texture:
This concealer feels cool and refreshing upon application. It's a nice wake-up on early morning starts. This must be due to the lime effect on the delicate tissue under the eyes. There is no dryness or flakiness as I have found with other products. The action of rolling the metal ball on adds to the sense of refreshment.
Results:
So it works to the extent that it refreshes me, on waking up, but after several weeks of daily use it fails to live up to the claims that it will make me look ten years younger. I also want to point out that splashing water in my face also wakes me up and that probably costs less! Does it conceal the bags? Well, I think it lightened the darkness. It gave me a little more confidence about my appearance, but once I returned to my normal sleep pattern it was obvious that no chemical aids where needed to make me look younger, just proper and regular sleep.
In terms of longevity it does not act as a preventer against dark circles, under the eyes, as the results of returning phases of sleepless nights have proved that! Maybe I should try cucumber slices.
The aloe Vera is supposed to aid in the removal of dead skin cells. I have no way of knowing if this is true but the action of rolling the metal ball under the eyes does have a softening feel.
Oh dear - the chemical list, what am I doing to my body when a few good night sleeps would have done even better? On the plus side this is paraben free which means the potentially dangerous preservatives are not present in the product. Here come the nasties:
Ingredients:
AQUA, TRI C12-13 ALKYL CITRATE, Di-C12-13 ALKYL MALATE, CI77891, TRILAURETH 4-PHOSPHATE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, ETHYLHEXYLETHYLHEXANOATE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, SORBITOL, C1 77492, PHENOXYETHANOL, ETHYLHEXLGLYCERIN, CAFFEINE, AMMONIUM ACRYLOYL-DIMETHYTAURATE/VP COPOLYMER, XANTHAN GUM, GLYCERIN, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, CITRUS MEDICA LIMONUM FRUIT EXTRACT, C1 77491
Overall:
Try it if you are pale skinned, by all means, and the massage action of the stick, against the skin, might help give tone. However, I will not buy again because it didn't take a decade off me! If I could give it a half star extra I would because it feels pleasant and refreshing but it is not going to make any one look ten years younger! Read the complete review |

Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect Night Cream
by thriftygiftyisme
=Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect Night Cream=
I recieved this cream in a small trial pot as part of a free gift promotion about 12 months ago, and as it is expensive, I was pleased to be able to try the cream.
=The Claims=
The product is No 7 Protect and Perfect night Cream, it moisturises your skin overnight, ... while delaying the age process on your face, whilst lightening lines, imperfections and wrinkles, and it is hypo allergenic.
=My Packaging=
This was in a small black plastic tub, it has a sticker about the product.
=The Cream=
The cream is white in colour, and is thick in consistency, and reminds me of cucumbers, with the cream being thick, I just put my finger in and got a small bit and started rubbing into my skin, I was pleasantly surprised to find that a little did go a long way, but when I got near the lower lids of my eyes, they started watering, whether there was something in the ingredients that did not agree with me i don't know.
=2nd Attempt=
I left it a couple of nights and tried again, unfortunately the same thing happened again.
=What did I think=
Before the eye incident, I liked the cream, although it was a small pot it looked like it was going to last a while, and this would be on the treat list.
=Recommended=
It is recommended that you use this cream after cleansing your face.
=Price and Availability=
This is a Boots own product and can be purchased both in store and on-line, although delivery charges may apply.
Sorry it was not for me, but from the way the shelves get cleared I guess a lot of people get the benefits from it. Read the complete review |

Superdrug Vitamin E Moisturising Cream
by thriftygiftyisme
=Superdrug Vitamin E Moisturising Cream=
I do mix and match the creams, that I use on my face, as I do get dry skin, and find that some items are better suited to me than others, and sometimes the budget allows for luxury, others not so luxury moments.
=Previous=
About 15 years ago I use to use Superdrug brands ... regulary, so thought I would give them another try, and the product was Vitamin E moisturising cream.
=Choices=
I was really impressed to find that there was 3 choices within the range, more 2 if you narrow it down to day and night. The day cream, you can purchase with or without built in SPF15/
=Tube=
The cream comes in a 100ml plastic tube, and this has a screw top, the whole range of Vitamin E is colour coded, with the Vitamin E, this colour is a like a beige colour, and the logo is a large E which is within an orange teardrop these are on the lower part of the tube.
=Opening=
This is where the product loses a star, as I was a bit surprised that there was not any seal on the tube, so really anyone could have gone across and opened the tube and tried the product. I always get one from the back.
=SPF=
The containers are almost identical, you have to look closely as the SPF15 is printed in small font, so its make sure you've got your glasses on!
=Product Information (from the tube)
Superdrug's Vitamin E SPF 15 moisturising day cream is designed for normal to dry skin. It provides sun protection factor 15 protection (a mid-range strength) and claims to contain vitamin E and natural antioxidants which defend the skin against environmental damage. It is designed to be effective for 12 hours after application.
=Using the cream=
I choose the cream with the SPF, as there are times where I don't put the full slap of make up on, or trowel full as my daughter would say, and having this built in SPF, just helps the skin.
=The Cream=
The cream is white, it i quite thick when you squeeze some out of the tube, but once you start applying the cream becomes more workable and is easy to apply, as though when it gets into contact with the skin, that it warms up and melts, you only need a little amount of these cream on.
=My Thoughts=
I was really impressed with this lotion, I would have paid around £2 for it, My skin felt soft and rehydrated, a little went a long way, what I did was swop this around with my Body Shop cream so that my skin was still getting Vitamin E, but at different ends of the price bracket. This really held its own.and a 100ml is priced a £2.99, which is excellent value.
=Would I recommend=
I would highly recommend this lotion it worked amazingly on my Winter Skin. Read the complete review |
