Superdrug Tea Tree & Peppermint Foam Face Wash
by Kirsty_89
DESCRIPTION
This is a foaming face wash by tea tree, suitable for daily use. It claims that it will "cleanse and refresh your skin leaving it clean, smooth and refreshed". Tea tree oil is an extremely old remedy for troublesome skin and was used by the aboriginal people of Australia. This face wash also contains ... peppermint which is known for it's refreshing properties leaving a tingly feeling on the skin.
PACKAGING
The packaging is pretty basic. A clear cap covers the off white plastic pump. The bottle is also see through with the name of the product on the front and a brief description on the back. It also gives directions suggesting you should "wet face, apply 1 or 2 pumps of foam into the palm of your hand and massage onto your face using circular movements". The packaging on the whole does look a bit cheap but that doesn't take away from the quality of the product inside.
PRICE
I was chuffed when strolling around my local Poundland to find this. The bottle is also 200ml, the one's in Superdrug which I would assume are more than £1 are only 160ml I think.
PERFORMANCE
I've always been a fan of tea tree and have used it on my skin since I was a teenager. I've tried many of their products but this is the first time I've tried their foaming face wash, I've never used another brand of foaming face wash either and so was intrigued when I saw this product for a pound.
I first pumped some of the product on my dry hand to see how much comes out. The liquid inside the bottle is a bright green colour which people sometimes find off putting with tea tree products however the foam comes out a pure white colour and I would describe the amount from one pump as the size of a small pebble. For this reason I decided for my first wash I would use 2 pumps of product rather than one. I tend to use these sorts of products at night too because I feel they don't have time to work in the morning before I put on my make up.
The foam is very smooth and has that distinctive tea tree oil smell, it massages into the skin easily and immediately makes you feel cleansed. I tend to massage the product in for about a minute and then rinse the product off with warm water. My skin tingles just slightly afterwards which I like and I've had no irritation whatsoever from using the product. My skin looks more "awake" after use and definitely feels a lot softer.
I was pleasantly surprised after never using a foam wash before and because the bottle says it's suitable for daily use I've put it into my new routine.
OVERALL
A really good product for a fantastic price! It also looks as though it will last me a very long time as I've had the product for 2 months and have been using it everyday and I still have over 3/4s of the product left making this tea tree foaming face wash very economical. Simple Nourishing Eye Make Up Remover
by thehonesttruth
Although I generally use wipes for removing my makeup, I do find an eye make up remover very useful too - not only do they tend to be more delicate and less irritating to the wipes, but they usually tend to remove eye liners and waterproof mascara better. I purchased this bottle of Simple eye make up remover for around £3 in my local ... supermarket . Normally I would buy a cheaper brand, but since an allergic reaction last year (I developed an allergy to penicillin which resulted in all over hives and rashes) I've found that my normally quite durable skin has become rather sensitive, so I've been trying to buy some gentler products.
It comes in a white and green bottle that allows it to be stored top-down, and when squeezed out through the narrow aperture,it is a thin cream, which luckily doesn't flow out of the bottle too fast. It is unscented, and I really do feel it lives up to this claim. I apply it to a clean flannelette pad, (I avoid cotton wool near my eyes due to shedding) and use that to smooth and rub over the eye area. It is gentle on the skin, and there is no tearing up of the eyes during use.
I find this does remove makeup very well, though occasionally I'll notice it (or I) have missed a bit of eyeliner and have to go clean my eyes again. I do find it does leave a little residue of the lotion on the skin, which I just tend to blend in a little before carrying on with cleansing and moisturising. This product is designed to be nourishing, and I have found the skin around my eye area does feel moisturised right after using.
Simple Skincare products are not tested on animals.
Overall, this is a decent eye make up remover that is kind to eyes and gets the job done. I do think at £3 it is perhaps a little pricey, but then I tend to be something of a cheapskate when it comes to cosmetics due to being a student! I've had this bottle two months now, and it is just starting to empty out, so I suppose £3 for 2 months isn't that bad really!

Olay Essentials Smoothing Face Scrub
by Ninski1
I try to look after my skin well and recently saw this product on special offer in Asda for £1.50, so I having used Olay products in the past I thought I would give it a go. The scrub comes in a 150ml tube that has a flip off lid that is easy to use in the shower or bath and it does not leak. The tube can is designed to stand upright ... and it is easy to dispense the scrub from the tube without using too much all the time.
The product is designed to gently scrub away skin impurities and leave you with refreshed, soft, smoother, clean skin that is well moisturised. To use the product all you have to do is use a small amount, about the size of a 10 pence piece, and apply it to damp skin, gently rub into your skin, avoiding the eye area and then rinse off and dry.
The product is white in colour and has tiny little pink micro beads in it that help to scrub off the dead layers of skin that can cause your skin to feel rough. It smells a little flowery and it is creamy in texture. You cannot really feel many of the microbeads.
I have sensitive skin and find that this product does not cause me any discomfort and that the gentleness of the scrub is quite good.
Overall I would say that this scrub has worked for me as the micro beads are very gentle and are not very harsh, I use it daily in the morning and I find that my skin stays soft and the overall look of my skin has improved since I first started using it about 3 weeks ago. The only downside I suppose would be for those who like a scrub to contain lots of bits, as this clearly does not and therefore I am giving the product 4 Dooyoo stars. Read the complete review |
