Colour Trend Dazzlers Top Coat
by alyson29
Whilst I can no longer admit to enjoying the experience of painting my nails, particularly as the various coats take so long to dry, I love a beautifully glossed and well manicured appearance. Despite owning a large box containing an array of different coloured polishes, when browsing an Avon brochure a short while ago, my eyes were ... drawn to a newly launched range named Colour Trend Dazzlers Top Coat and this review discusses my experience.
Whilst the product is also available in Fuschia Dazzle and Silver Plated I opted for the Gold Flecked, particularly as we are fast approaching the festive season and I wanted to introduce a little sparkle into my life. The 8ml glass bottle is presented in a bright red and cerise coloured cardboard box and a huge grumble I have with Avon is that they frequently provide product details in the tiniest of text inside the cardboard packaging. Consequently, instead of being able to neatly store the bottle inside I found myself having to rip open the box only to discover the ingredients list in a multitude of languages with no directions for use.
The bottle is slightly smaller than your average nail varnish and it offers a wonderfully girly and what I would describe as princess appearance. Unlike any other sparkle varnishes that I've previously used, the sparkles are of a good size as opposed to tiny glitter particles. The application brush is identical to other varnishes that I've used, so a sufficient amount of the product coats the fine bristles each time the brush is dipped into the bottle and I find this adequate to fully coat three nails.
The consistency of the clear liquid is identical to that of a good quality nail polish and despite being marketed as a top coat I have used it on its own as well as over a bright coloured polish. The results are spectacular, as the good size golden coloured particles catch the light and draw attention to the nails. Whilst one coat is sufficient if I want to dazzle a little more I will apply a couple of extra coats so that the golden particles cover a larger proportion of my nail. The polish is extremely fast drying and within approximately one minute it is touch dry with a further minute needed for it to be fully dry. Whilst this isn't an issue for me, the golden particles offer a slight rough and raised texture to the nail, but I cannot report of them catching on my clothes.
The polish offers a fairly good longevity with just one coat where I am able to achieve around four days of wear and whilst the clear coating remains intact for a few days longer, the golden flecks will begin to gradually disappear. However, when applying more than one coat I find that the golden particles tend to easily break away and I remedy this by applying a separate clear top coat to keep them intact. Removing the polish is an easy task by way of an ordinary nail varnish remover. This is a stunning and very pretty top coat for adding some sparkle to your nails and whilst the product was advertised in the women's section in the Avon brochure I am sure it would be very much appreciated by little girls.
As previously mentioned, the product is available in three colours and at the time of writing they are reduced from their normal price of £3.00 each to £1.99. As a result, I have ordered the two remaining colours from my Avon representative. Due to the reasons discussed above, Avon Colour Trend Dazzlers Top Coat receives five stars from me together with a high recommendation.

Avon Skin-So-Soft Original Dry Oil Spray
by curtainup
I initially bought this before my holiday to Turkey to sooth my skin after a long day in the sun after having it recommended by the mother in law! What can I say, it was fantastic. It left my skin feeling soft and rejuvinated and smelt beautiful (which was fantastic as I'd forgotten my perfume!) although i did need to reapply after 4 ... hours as it didn't keep me moisturised for a particularly long time!
It also had the added bonus of keeping mosquitoes away (I have a few friends who actually use this on their horses to keep flies and mozzies away, and it works!)
It was on offer on 3 for 2 I believe, and I think this is fantastic value for money (especially as it doubles as a mozzy repellant!) and it lasted me for ages! I usually apply after a shower or bath so it's really well absorbed but it goes on really well onto dry skin too.
I usually suffer with dry skin on my legs, but Skin So Soft got rid of that no problem! Mine came in a spray bottle which evenly distributes the spray, and means no one area gets too much and ends up greasy. I would recommend using it from about 4-5" away from the skin and rubbing in quickly as it's a dry oil and can evaporate a bit quick otherwise!
The only critisism i have is that the smell can be a bit overpowering if you use it on your whole body, but if you target the key areas of dry skin then it's not too bad! Read the complete review |
