Boots Botanics Purifying Face Scrub
by Chippytarka
I havent used the Botanics range for years, and I was pleasantly surprised when a close friend of mine had given me this scrub, along with afew other facial products, as a gift. Im currently using a Liz Earle product to get rid of the old skin cells, which I enjoy using, but with it being quite mint based in smell and feeling, I thought ... this would be a nice contrast.
I didnt buy this, so I have checked on Boots.com couldnt find this exact one, but a simialr scrub cost £2.69, so if it still is available should be around that price point.
How is it packaged?
It comes in a 75ml plastic tube. Its see through with a pale green and white label around two thirds of the tube. Product comes out from the bottom of tube, which has a cap on it which flips open to allow product to come out when squeezed.
On the front it says that its for normal to oily skin, its called Botanics Purifying Face Scrub and its supposed to reveal a 'brighter complexion'. On the back it has ingredients list, how to use, and what its supposed to do. It also says that you have 24months from opening to use.
Ingredients
Aqua, Paraffinum liquidum, Cetyl alcohol, Glycerin, Steareth-2, Prunus armeniaca, Juglans regia, Quillaja saponaria, Steareth-21, Phenoxyethanol, Proylene glycol, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Potassium hydroxide, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sorbitol, Limonene, Parfum, Linalool, Dipropylene glycol, Citronellol, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben.
How to use
Gently massage onto wet skin and rinse off with warm water.
How did it look/Perform
It definitely looked like a scrub-creamy in colour with brown/red particles flowing through it. It smells just like I remember the other products in the Botanics range smelt like years ago, which is a clean slightly warm floral scent to it, which is pleasant and non offensive.
It had a decent thickness to it so you didnt feel when you applied it to your face it would literally just fall off, and it was very easy to put on the skin.
This is where I have to throw in a big negative. .... I know I can be alittle heavy handed when it comes to applying product, but I didnt go in with finger tips made of cement. I was actually quite gentle, yet when I rubbed the scrub into my face, it felt very rough and although I looked at the product before application and saw how big the beads were ( not huge ), they felt twice as big. The more I moved the product around the more rougher it felt and then my face felt very warm-too warm. So I stopped, and did the same motion so softly that I was hardly touching my face, and it felt much better.
Once I had finished, my skin did feel softer ( not surprising! ) and very clean I didnt experience any odd sensations afterwards ( thank goodness! ), so I could apply a mask as per usual.
Would I use this again? I would try it again and make sure it wasnt just my skin having an ' off ' day or check if the electrical connection between my brain and my hands was disconnected when I was using it. If niether of those apply, I wouldnt use again and I wouldnt buy it. Felt too rough and would suit my body rather than my face more Read the complete review |

Boots Botanics Revealing Body Polish
by basketofbuttons
I received a jar of Boots Botanics Revealing Body Polish as part of a Botanics gift set I was given at Christmas. My Body Polish is in a large glass jar with a screw top lid and not in a little tube, as per the Dooyoo photo. As this was part of a gift set, I use this Body Polish in conjunction with the other things in the set, ... including the bath foam and the body butter (I also received shower gel) and they do all work best when used together, I think.
As my body polish is in a jar, as opposed to a small tube, it's not the easiest thing to use in the shower. For this reason, I tend to use my Body Polish at weekends when I am having a bath, rather than a shower, as it's just easier to use and get it out of the jar with my hands.
The Body Polish is relatively easy to use, and much like the Soap and Glory body polish / exfoliator in its consistency. It's quite thick and gloopy and I usually start off with my feet and legs and gradually work my way up my body. The Body Polish has hundreds of the tiniest little gritty grainy bits in it. It has a very mild scratchy effect on the skin when I apply it to my skin and I use it quite roughly, in quick little circular motions all over, paying special attention to the drier and rougher areas of my body, such as my knees and the ankles and the elbows, etc.
It smells really fresh and pleasant. It's not a flowery floral sweet smell, but quite a fresh and invigorating one and it really perks me up. It smells exactly the same as all the other Botanics range products, as you'd expect it to, really. In terms of effectiveness, it's not the very best body polish have ever used, but then it's not the worst one, either. It does a good job at refining the skin and making it feel smoother after I have used it. It does a good job at removing those minor imperfections such as the little bumpy bits we all get, but it's no good if you are after a pretty intensive body polishing or exfoliating experience.
I always use the Botanics body butter afterwards (or the Body Shop one) and I do notice when I apply my moisturiser that my skin feels different after I have used this body polish as it feels much smoother, more refined and feels a lot less bumpy. I am not sure how much this sells for as I received it as a gift but I am sure as it's Boots, it will be a more than reasonable price.
If I had to choose just one negative aspect of this body polish it's only that it leaves a huge amount of gritty grainy bits in the bottom of my bath after I have used it. These are easily rinsed away with the showerhead, of course, but nevertheless, I hate standing up in the bath, getting ready to step out, and finding my feet covered in grit. On the whole though, it's a decent enough body polish which does a good job and I'll happily recommend it. Read the complete review |

Boots Botanics Revealing Body Polish
by Holland1
I bought this body polish as part of a gift set which was reduced in the January sale in Boots. I picked it up as a bit of a bargain, but at full price it retails at £3.99 for 200ml, and being part of the Botanics range, is only available at Boots.
The body polish is packaged in a bottle with a flip top lid, which makes it ... easy to dispense the product in the shower. There's nothing particularly eye catching about the packaging, with the transparent parts at the top and bottom revealing an almost grey coloured mirky body polish. The product is easy to dispense, although being quite thick it does take a little squeezing through the hole.
In use, the experience is pleasant enough. The beads contained within this body polish are quite small, so they don't scratch or affect the skin adversely. It feels a little like the Soap and Glory body exfoliator, which I love. The fragrance is pleasant, being sweet and in keeping with the body wash and butter from the same range. I find the product easy to wash off, and it doesn't leave too much mess at the bottom of the shower.
Unfortunately, the results didn't quite match the rest of the experience with this body polish. In fact, the results were positively disappointing. Usually, when I use body polish or exfoliators, they smooth my skin and get rid of any little bumps or scaly bits. With this one, however, I didn't really notice any difference at all, and applying moisturiser afterwards I was surprised to feel some little bumps and imperfections that the body polish had completely missed.
I wouldn't bother buying this body polish again, although I have continued to use the rest of my sample sized one because I hate waste. It was a pleasant enough experience in use, but the results were disappointing. Three stars from me.
