Dr Nick Lowe Spot Gel
by prettypolly40 ***Why I want the product?*** I have mentioned before in my reviews about my troublesome skin. I have gone through all my teens and early adult life without a hitch. Yes I had the odd breakout but that was it, an odd break out. When I had my daughter at 26 this is when my skin went into over drive and has never been the same. ... Mostly due to hormones, to which I was told my doctors at the time would subside. Unfortunately this was not to be and I have to put up with troublesome skin. I have tried a range of different spot treatments before, ranging from Clean and Clear, Neutrogena and Benzoyl Peroxide to name a few, which also irritates me if I use too often. Unfortunately these treatments do not do much for me even if I apply the product a few times a day. I have even tried mixing them to see if it gives the product a bit more punch with no results. I was on the lookout for a new spot treatment, something with good reviews, something everyone loves and swears by. This is when I came across Dr. Nick Lowe's products. ***About the brand*** Although I have heard of Dr. Nick Lowe before I never really took any notice of him before but after all the great reviews I decided to find out more. Dr. Nick Lowe is a UK medical graduate with specialist training in Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Dermatologic Surgery and Cosmetic Laser therapy in the USA and UK. Dr. Nick Lowe has over 30 years experience of new treatments, technology and research into skin problems and skin ageing. Dr. Nick Lowe has also received awards including Gold and Silver Awards from the American Academy of Dermatology. *** What product did I purchase?*** I decided to purchase Dr. Nick Lowe Spot Gel. This gel is described as the perfect anti-bacterial gel to keep blemishes at bay. This ingredient packed spot gel is all you need for blemish prone skin. Dr. Nick Lowe advises you can apply this product directly to the spot three to four times a day is required. ***What are the ingredients in this product?*** ~ My favourite ingredient Salicylic Acid. Salicylic acid has the ability to penetrate deep into the oil gland that can clog pores. ~ Willow Bark, Tea Tree and Thyme for their anti-bacterial properties ~ Arnica, this is a great anti inflammatory, which helps to soothe blemished skin ~ Vitamins A, C and E ~ Allergen free fragrance ~ All important this product is Non comedogenic ***Packaging*** The glossy white oblong box with lime green stripe at the bottom of the box and the lid. Black writing that stands out on the front states Dr. Nick Lowe Dermatologist Spot Gel. Targeted and Instant Action. The side of the box the ingredients involved in this product can be found you can read a little about Dr. Nick Lowe. The back you will find how to use, how the ingredients used can help with your skin problems and contact details. The product itself comes in a 15ml matte white tube that looks clinically clean with a small shiny silver band going across the screw off lid. This product has an expiry of 12 months once opened. Unscrewing the lid you can see a small funnel with a small tip for the right amount of product to be dispensed. ***What does the product look and feel like?*** Squeezing a small amount to the back of my hand I am glad to see the product is clear I can also smell a light medicated scent unlike other spot treatments that may use fragrance to mask the medical smell. Spreading the gel texture over my hand I am glad to see and feel it's very light texture that almost feels moisturising so say it is a spot treatment and spreads far so a small amount is only needed. More importantly applying the product onto a spot, the product feels light, moisturising, cool feeling, which dries quickly on the skin and dries clear. You are left with a light protective film on the skin and I find mineral makeup can be applied gently over the top without peeling of the treatment. I find with most spot treatments they are not miracle workers and unfortunately will not work over night, I still find with using this product regular applications are needed and as soon as the spot appears for it to be most effective. However, I also find this product *almost* stops the spot in its tracks from getting bigger. I say almost as it is always not effective at doing this. I have often applied it before bed and woke up with the product still on my face; however some peeling of the product has occurred due to sleeping. Due to the product containing Salicylic Acid, the skin can sometimes have a peel effect due to the product penetrating deep into the poor and shredding skin. I have found this not to be the case even with frequent uses throughout the day and days. I also have sensitive skin, especially on my cheeks and this product has not irritated me in anyway. ***Price and availability*** You can purchase this product from www.boots.com for £9.18, other online retailers prices may vary. ***What I think about it/do I like it?*** You would think by the great review above I would say yes would not you? Unfortunately the answer is a no I would not purchase again. The reason behind this is simply the product doesn't take way or target the blemish as quickly as I would have hoped or am lead to believe. I can use the product on the same blemish for three days and it will still be there until it clears to, which I do not think the product cleared it up instead I think it was my own skin and body that cleared it. Although this product is not working as great for me I will continue to use the product due to not wasting and because it does have Salicylic Acid even though I do not know the percentage, shame as I had high hopes. Dr Nick Lowe Age Correct Eye Serum
by Holland1 I bought this eye serum in the second half of last year when I saw it on offer in Boots. I had run out of my current eye cream product, and although this was a brand I had never heard of, it looked like a decent brand and was significantly reduced in price in Boots so I gave it a try. I wanted to give it a good length of time to see if ... it made any difference before reviewing it, and now I think that time has arrived. Dr Nick Lowe is apparently an internationally renowned consultant dermatologist with over 30 years experience. According to his website his aim is to prove that effective skincare need not be expensive. I'm not sure I agree with this because I personally find his range to be quite expensive but I guess it depends what you're comparing it against. The eye serum describes itself as an anti-ageing correcting serum, and the packaging makes the usual claims about firming, toning and moisturising the eye area, and claims to help the appearance of dark circles. It was this claim which drew me to the product, because I have always had very dark circles under my eyes, not helped by the fact my skin is quite pale. I've always used eye creams since my early twenties, and so I also look for ones which claim to minimise the appearance of wrinkles. These are the two things I look for in an eye cream, but unfortunately I've not found one which ticks both these boxes yet. The eye serum is dermatologically tested, ophthalmologically tested, and is fragrance free. This means it is very gentle on the eye area, which as we all know is quite fragile. The guidance given is to apply the eye serum to the eye area, morning and evening, being careful not to get any into the eye, or overload or drag the skin. I don't intend to drone on about packaging too much, but the eye cream is in a small bottle/tube with a press-down pump dispenser. This makes it easy to use without getting all over the place, but does mean as you're getting near the end it's hard to get the last of the product out. I find one press on the dispenser is more than enough for one application of this product, in fact I don't usually press all the way down otherwise it's too much and you feel like you've wasted the product. The serum is white and feels smooth as it glides over the skin, it doesn't tingle or burn or give any sensation that some of the eye products on the market can do. Now, as for the effectiveness of this product, I have found that it has made my dark circles ever so slightly less dark. They've not gone by any means, but in places (especially towards the outer part of the eye), they appear more shadowy than dark, as if they're reflecting the light better. This means that when I cover the shadows with concealer, they look less obvious. I wasn't expecting miracles with this serum, because I've yet to find an eye product which lives up to its claims, but this did make a tiny bit of difference which might encourage me to buy it again. As for the wrinkles, I've used various eye creams over the years and am lucky to not have many wrinkles, so I think in general as long as you're using something, it should keep the wrinkles at bay. Obviously, I'm not going to know the full effects of this until later life, but I am confident that this is a quality product which will delay wrinkles. Now for the downside....the price. I was lucky when I bought this because it was on offer. I can't remember how much I paid exactly but I think it was around £8 for 50ml. On the Boots website, this product is currently advertised at £17.35 for 50ml which is EXPENSIVE!! I'm not sure I'm convinced this product makes a big enough difference to justify the price tag, but I do have more faith in it than some I've used so if I see it discounted again I might stock up whilst it's reduced. Dr Nick Lowe Age Correct Eye Serum
by newby2 ==Dr Nick Lowe Age Correct Eye Serum== I'm 28 now which means my fresh plump face is becoming a thing of the past and smoking is most certainly not helping! So to try and combat the signs of ageing I am always on the look out for products that will help my fine lines especially around my eyes. This Dr Nick ... Lowe Age Correct Eye Serum is not the cheapest product you can get but with the phrase "you get what you pay for" always ringing in my ears I opted to pay the £17.50 p that this little bottle of 15 ml was priced at. I picked mine up from Boots but I am not sure where else this brand is sold because I can't say that I have seen it anywhere else than all the tons of Boots stores or online. However it wouldn't be hard to track down as even my small local Boots stock up on it. The product is specially designed for the under eye area and it says it will instantly tone and lift the delicate eye area while moisturising and firming at the same time. I am a bit fan of serums in general because of their smooth and silky feeling when they go on the skin so this was really the main draws for me when buying the product. The bottle itself is a small white plastic one which is thick and chunky and generally easy to use. The nozzle is a push down pump action style and the only trouble I found with the packaging of the serum was that when it was coming to an end it was impossible to get every last drop out as you can't take the pump off to get inside the bottle and I knew there was definitely a few uses of the stuff left in there. The product is said to contain Pomegranate and Raspberry which fight against damaging free radicals whilst being fragrance free and containing a stack of vitamins such as A, C and E. using the product is simple and really only one press down of the pump lets out enough of the serum to do one under eye area at a time. The silky liquid then needs to be dabbed lightly onto the skin and blended in very gently. To look at the product is has a translucent white appearance and lilke they say there is no fragrance to the serum and it is a very light weight product which is really nice to apply. The serum doesn't notice on the skin although does feeling cooling and moisturising whilst taking a mere minute or to to sink into the skin. It has never once irritated my eyes and because it is dermatologically tested you know that in most cases it will not have any adverse affects on the skin around the delicate area that is the eyes. I must say that having used the product for a good few months I didn't notice any real difference in any of the fine lines or the general appearance of the under eye area itself. I did however love the feel of the product on my skin and it did give a little lift and refreshing feeling each time I used it. There were no long lasting affects to the eye area though and this was really what I was looking for with this product considering how much a little bottle of the stuff is. On the whole I would have to say that I shan't be buying it again and I probably would only recommend it to people who are not looking to change the appearance of their under eyes but more have a nice base for which to apply concealer to this area and generally have a fresher more hydrated look from this area of the face. It is a nice serum which feels lovely and works quite well for the time of application but I was expecting a little more from the product and was hoping that it would improve my skin with time and perseverance. This however was not the case and the reason I will only award the serum a score of 3 out of 5 stars. Nice to use but didn't give any noticeable difference to the under eye area for any length of time which I would have expect at least a tiny bit for the price that I paid for it. I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you. Many thanks for taking the time to read. Read the complete review |
