Liz Earle Brightening Treatment
by Chippytarka
Over the last couple of weeks Ive found that my skin has improved in condition. As anyone that has been reading some of my skincare reviews will know I have been suffering from dry and tight feeling skin. Thankfully, my skin feels and looks a lot more nourished so decided to treat my skin to this treatment, which I had in a kit I ordered ... form QVC last year. Its not the full size, but travel ( 15ml ).
Why did I use this treatment?
Although my skin is feeling more ' normal ' to me ( still have afew issues but much better than a month ago in regards to condition, I felt my skin needed to look alittle less dull. Tiredness, weird weather changes haven't helped, and I was hoping this would give my face alittle lift in the brightness department.
Liz Earle
Ive reviewed quite afew of her products so not going to go over the history of this brand but will mention the basics:
It's a British born and based company that specialises in skincare, bodycare, haircare, fragrance and now cosmetic products where they try to keep the ingredients as natural and as active as possible. The skincare and bodycare line in particular tend to be botanically based. Not as readily available as other brands out there, but can be purchased from QVC and direct on Liz Earle website.
How is it packaged?
As mentioned the version I have isn't full sized, but all of the treatments in the LizEarle range tend to be in some form of tube which either you squeeze out from the bottom ( after taking off a screw top lid ) or is in a pump dispenser. The version I has the screw top lid.
The colour of the tube ia a very place cream colour, very basic and simple in look with the Liz Earle logo right in the middle, the product brand and name at the top, ' Liz Earle Brightening Treatment Mask '. Beneath that is some of the ingredients the product contains and what the product is supposed to do to the skin.
On the back is direction of use. It states not suitable for sensitive skin, no animal extracts and once opened it has a 24 month shelf life. Lastly, it has company contact details.
Ingredients
Aqua (water), Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, Montmorillonite, Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) water, PEG-20 stearate, Silt, Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, Panthenol, Cetearyl
ethylhexanoate, Cetearyl alcohol, Cinnamomum camphora (camphor) oil, Parfum (fragrance), Citronellol, Hexyl cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, Butylphenyl methylpropional, Linalool, Lactic acid, Potassium sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Sodium methylparaben, Sodium propylparaben.
What is this product supposed to do?
Is supposed to revitalise the skin very quickly and effectively. Giving the skin a radiance. Perfect for skin that looks dull and grey.
How to use
Use if and when needed.
Apply to clean, dry skin. Leave for between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. Soak a pure muslin cloth in hand-hot water and gently wipe away residue.
How did I find it?
Firstly, I loved the smell of this product. Its quite an acquired smell. To me it wasn't overwhelming, but quite sharp and fresh. There is a slight mineral type smell to it with a touch of something medicinal about it ( probably the witch hazel and white clay-I guess ). Completely unisex and very spa like.
The colour is quite creamy and nude, and the texture has some thickness to it. Very easy to apply and equally just as easy to take off. I did it all in the shower with no mess or awkwardness.
Afew seconds after applying to the skin I felt a slight warm tingle, not uncomfortable but was surprised as I didn't expect it. Checking on the website, it does mention you will experience some form of tingling, so that is completely normal. After taking off the product off my skin felt clean, reasonable fresh and quite smooth. My skin didn't feel dry but alittle on the taut side, but this wasn't uncomfortable.
Actually looking at my skin, I felt the actual colouring ( I know it sounds weird ) was alittle different compared to how it normally is. Not major, but a slight difference. Would I say it looked brighter?Yes-a touch. My colouring on my face looked more even. I didn't feel it was long lasting e.g lasted for days and days, but during that application and for afew hours after I could see some subtle change.
Would I buy again? I did like using the product but probably wouldn't buy this product in its full size for afew reasons:
Its not suitable for sensitive skin. The skin on my face isn't sensitive but I do suffer from afew patches of Psoriasis on my neck so I couldn't put the product on that area, and whatever product I put on the face I always move it down the neck and top of the chest area.
I like to leave a treatment on for longer than 2 minutes, and this treatment it specifies to leave it on for between 30sec-2minutes which isn't very practical for me. Half the time I like to put something on, do stuff round the house, sort out the kids and then take the product off in my own sweet time.
I probably needed a treatment that is more to hydrate rather than brighten. I think if the treatment hydrates my skin it will naturally look better and brighter anyway. So I would rather go for that option, as this treatment for me didn't really hydrate that much.
In the ingredients list there are quite afew parabens mentioned. I dont know enough about this ingredient but I know they are used as preservatives in cosmetics, and they are very cheap in cost. There has been some concern that this type of ingredient may cause health issues, but despite this its so common for parabens to be in a variety of everyday products we put on the skin. Saying that, it can be derived from natural plant sources such as blueberries, but I would assume that alot of products go for the ' man made ' variety.
This is a nice treatment but probably just not right for me. But if you are interesting in this product here are the price and size details that are available:
15ml tube with muslin cloth £5.50
50ml tube £14.00
50ml pump £14.00
50ml pump with muslin cloth £14.75 Read the complete review |

Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask
by kubs1989
I received a 30ml tube of Liz Earle's Deep Cleansing Mask in a gift set from QVC. The mask is aimed at oily/combination skin, and contains naturally active ingredients include green clay, manuka honey, propolis and rose-scented geranium. This mask is designed to draw out impurities to leave skin balanced and calm. It retails at £14.50 ... for a 75ml tube and 2 cleansing sponges to remove the product.
The mask is a deep green colour and has quite a thick consistency, it is not as watery as some of the clay masks I have used in the past. The natural ingredients can be identified immediately. It has a pungent herbal scent; which is not unpleasant, but it is definitely natural and not synthetic.
The mask applies easily to the face, it glides over the skin without any trouble. I apply a generous amount to my T-Zone and chin and leave this on for around 10 minutes. In this time the mask dries without any tightness, stinging or irritation. I then wet one of the sponges and wipe off the mask which takes seconds and is easy to remove. After removing the mask, my skin looks matte without being dry or tight, and my skin feels soothed and fairly soft thanks to the botanical ingredients. My blemishes and any redness looks a little reduced, also.
Overall, this is a good quality clay mask which helps absorb oil and soothe skin. My skin also looks better following its use, I produce less oil and my blemishes look reduced. It is quite expensive, but I would consider buying this to use a weekly treat. Read the complete review |
