Neal's Yard Remedies Power Berry Daily Moisturiser
by zombieflesh
Neal's Yard Remedies is a name that I have heard lots of times thanks to their reputation for producing quality natural beauty products. I received this facial moisturising lotion as a free gift with a magazine and I was really thrilled with this as it's more expensive than the products I would usually buy for myself. You can buy Neal's ... Yard Remedies products from many health and beauty stores, and online at their website www.nealsyardremedies.com/. The Power Berry Daily Moisturiser is available in a 100ml pump dispenser bottle costing £22.50. I have a smaller 50ml sized promotional version of this product, with a more basic plastic tube packaging, although I'm not complaining as it was a freebie!
Product description: "Boosts radiance and protects youthful skin. Antioxidant-rich acai, bilberry and goji berry help fight the effect of free radicals for brighter, dewy looking skin."
As mentioned above, I have a 50ml version of this face cream. The moisturiser itself is a plain white colour and has a thin and light consistency to it. It is quite runny when squeezing it out of the tube and I find that I quite often end up with more than I need to cover my entire face and neck, so I end up using the excess to moisturise my hands. This is no huge problem, but it does seem a bit wasteful and I expect that the proper pump dispenser packaging is more effective at providing an accurate amount for each use.
Although it is described as "Power Berry" I must say that the scent is not fruity, but instead it has quite a strong herby aroma. Based on my little experience in cooking I thought I had picked up scents of thyme and mint, and upon checking the ingredients my suspicions were confirmed to be correct. The smell is not something I'm overly keen on as it is quite strong, although it is not unpleasant.
This moisturiser is suggested for use on youthful skin. I'm in my mid-20's and not ready for a heavy duty skin care regime just yet, so this sounded great for me. My complexion has gone through some changes recently, and I have finally moved past my prolonged oily and spotty stage (hooray!). My skin now seems to be settled at combination, prone to oily patches on my nose and chin. Neal's Yard Remedies say this is ideal for boosting radiance and is also suitable for sensitive skin. Upon applying the moisturiser it feels quite thin, and it spreads incredibly easily. It has a nice refreshing and soothing effect on my skin and it does help to replenish levels of moisture after cleansing. I don't really have the time to wait around for moisturiser to soak in in the mornings, and this Power Berry Daily Moisturiser has proved to be quick to absorb in most cases. However, sometimes my skin does feel overloaded so in this case I have to wipe off any excess to stop my skin from getting clogged up.
I haven't noticed the radiance boost promised from this product, but my skin does feel hydrated after using it. I have also noticed an improvement to the feel of my skin, and it appears smoother after using this moisturiser. This is best for use on younger skin, as it does not offer any intensive repair benefits, although the antioxidant ingredients will help to protect against the effects of ageing. Neal's Yard Remedies pride themselves on using high quality natural ingredients, and it's reassuring to know that I'm not overloading my skin with chemicals when I use this face cream. In fact, this product is made with 94% organic ingredients, which is an impressive statistic in my mind. As well as being packed full of natural ingredients, this moisturiser also lacks plenty of things such as: no mineral oils, no synthetic fragrances, no synthetic colours, no parabens, no silicones and no phthalates.
The Power Berry Daily Moisturiser has impressed me in some ways, as it has left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated; however it also causes oily patches which is a deal breaker for me. The cost of the product is good when you consider that you are getting high quality natural ingredients, but I am glad I got this as a freebie as it isn't perfectly suited to my skin and I would have felt let down to waste that amount of money. My 50ml bottle has lasted me for several months and I'm moving onto a new face cream now that it has run out. I would recommend it for young skin that is on the dry/normal side, but not for those prone to oily outbreaks or blemishes.
This is a vegan product and Neal's Yard Remedies are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!

Neal's Yard Calm Spritzer
by sparkle1004
Neal's Yard Remedies is a company which has been creating beauty products that are full to the brim with natural and organic ingredients for 30 years. The brand intends to care for our body and minds, enhancing our overall feeling of well being. They are also thoughtful with regard to the environment and promise to never test their ... ingredients or products on poor little animals.
In amongst the lotions, scrubs and creams, the Calm Spritzer stands out as being one of Neal's Yards Remedies more unusual products. After becoming a big fan of the Zest Spritzer, whose purpose it is to energise, I wanted to try out some of the other spritzers in the collection.
The Calm Spritzer's purpose is to gently cool and soothe your face, and to calm the body and your surroundings with just one spritz of the bottle. The liquid is full of relaxing and soothing essential oils which calm the mind and moisturise the skin. As well as calming the mind and body, it also claims to quieten the energy in a hectic room, allowing a sense of calm to enter your home.
The packaging follows the trend of the brand and is created using a dark blue glass. This is so that the precious natural ingredients can be protected from sun and light damage and will therefore last longer. It has a clear plastic lid which needs to be removed before you can spray the product. To release the product, you push down on the top of the bottle and a calming cloud of mist will be released.
How does it work?
The product contains Aloe Vera which has numerous benefits for the skin. The substance has healing, soothing, calming and moisturising properties and it also promotes the regeneration of new skin cells and leaves your skin looking healthier and nourished. The substance cools the skin, leaving it feeling fresher.
Chamomile is present because of its aromatherapy qualities and helps to alleviates feelings of stress and restlessness while soothing the nerves. It encourages relaxation and removes feeling of sadness, anger and irritation. It also soothes and softens the skin.
The Cypress oil is present for the same aromatherapy benefits as the Chamomile and encourages feelings of calmness and relaxation by relieving stress and anxieties. It is fantastic at kicking sadness to the curb and replacing it with a feeling of contentment and happiness.
Manderin Oil helps to improve the appearance of the skin by regenerating skin cells and repairing damage. It also improves the circulation of the blood. Despite its tangy and citrus aroma, it actually has a sedative effect and removes stresses and anxieties. The Neroli Oil, which is produced by Orange Blossom, is splashed in the solution in order to tone and brighten the skin. It improves the elasticity of the skin and can help to reduce the appearance of scarring.
The Rose Oil acts as an astringent, tightening and toning the skin and making it appear more youthful. The aromatherapy benefits of the essential oil includes boosting self belief, increased confidence and encourages positive thinking. The Fringed Violet soothes and calms the mind, as does the Australian Bush Flower and Black Eyed Susan included in the mixture.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be used whenever a sense of calm needs to be achieved. I use mine in the evening and at bedtime, or before a scary meeting or if I'm simply feeling a bit low. It is designed for use on your face and body, as well as your home. I shake the bottle before use in order to mix up the ingredients and hold the product at least 15cm from the skin. A few squirts will be more than enough. Obviously your mouth and eyes should be closed if you are using the product on the face and as it is heavily oil based, it shouldn't be sprayed onto furniture or clothing.
The fragrance of this product is strong and makes you feel more relaxed straight away, especially as you begin to associate the aroma with feeling calm. The scent is fairly herbal, deep and intense and you can feel your troubles melting away. I use this product very lightly on the body because I wouldn't want people to think it was my choice of perfume! I avoid using it on the face if possible because of its heavy oil content. When used on the body, it doesn't sting or feel uncomfortable and it leaves the skin feeling soft and nourished.
I use mine on my bed sheets at night time which are cotton but I wouldn't use this on silk sheets! I also use it on my body after a bath to encourage my body and mind to relax before bedtime. It also fills the room with a fragrance using only a few squirts and the aroma lingers for a long time. The product helps me sleep and removes my feelings of stress and anxiety.
The Calm Spritzer costs around £11 for 100ml which is fairly expensive. It can be bought from many websites including Neal's Yard Remedies. It is suitable for use by vegans and contains 94% natural ingredients. If you find that you like this product, then you could also try the Zest Spritzer which I also like in order to feel more awakened and energised.
All in all, this is a lovely product to produce a feeling of calm and quiet in both you and those around you. Because of its gentle ingredients, it is suitable for sensitive skin like mine and doesn't leave a greasy feeling on the body as long as you don't spray the product too close to the skin or spray too much of it. When this is used in moderation, the spritzer will relax and calm both your body and mind.

Neal's Yard Zest Spritzer
by sparkle1004
Neal's Yard Remedies is a beauty brand that creates products that are overflowing with natural and organic ingredients. The company has been trading since 1981 and it strives to provide us with products which will benefit our minds, bodies and our well being. As well as looking after us, they ensure that they do not cause any unnecessary ... damage to the environment. They also promise that they will never test their products on animals.
The Zest Spritzer is one of the more unusual products produced by Neal's Yard Remedies. The product is a spray which is designed to energise and uplift your face, body and surroundings with one spray of the bottle. The formula is packed full of stimulating essential oils to refresh and revitalise the skin, and through aromatherapy, will make you feel wide awake and energised instantly.
The bottle is made out of a dark blue glass, as is all of Neal's Yard Remedies packaging, because it protects the formula inside from being affected by light reaching it. When you remove the clear plastic lid and push down on the top of the bottle, a citrus blast spritz is released. It is primarily designed to be a body freshener but it can also be used to freshen your home.
How does it work? The product is packed full of energising essential oils which soften and tone the skin, as well as lifting the spirits. The formula contains Calendula, which is also known as the Marigold flower. This substance is an antioxidant which helps to fight against the free radicals which cause premature aging of the skin.
It also encourages the synthesis of collagen which is essential for maintaining the skins structure and for a more youthful appearance. Calendula also acts as an anti inflammatory meaning you can kiss goodbye to puffy morning faces. It is also known for its healing properties and can help sooth all kinds of skin problems.
The formula also includes Lemon Oil which is highly stimulating for the skin and the mind. The detoxifying substance will give you a clear head, enabling you to think without that foggy confusion that we awaken with. As well as toning the skin and removing any dullness in the complexion, it makes you more alert and ready to face the day.
Bergamot is another citrus fruit included in the formula and is known for being a natural antidepressant. When you breathe in deeply, the aroma of this ingredient should increase feeling of happiness and energy and relieve feeling of stress, depression and fear. The refreshing scent is commonly used in aromatherapy because it is uplifting and can balance out a troubled mind and even out your emotions.
As well as Garden Mint and Vetiver, it also contains Australian Bush Flower which when inhaled can promote acceptance of your circumstances and allow you to embrace change. And finally, a blast of Little Flannel Flower should encourage feeling of playfulness and make you want to embrace life and have fun.
How do you use the product? The product can be used whenever your energy levels or your mood is flagging. It is suitable for use on the face and body, as well as on your surroundings. After shaking the bottle, you are told to hold the product about 15cm from the skin and spritz the body with a few squirts.
Remember to close your eyes and mouth before spraying the product. As this product is heavily oil based, it should not be sprayed directly onto furniture or clothing as it will stain.
The aroma of this product really will have you wide awake in seconds. The scent is citrus fresh as if you've just bathed in a pool of fruit and while it is incredibly refreshing, I wouldn't want people to think that it is my choice of perfume. For this reason, I use the product lightly. One squirt on the face is sufficient and I hold the product at arms length. It doesn't sting or feel uncomfortable.
I use this product first thing in the morning to wake me up, after cleansing and before make up. If I am having trouble waking up, I'll spray it on my face and pillow instead of constantly hitting the snooze button. I use it again when I get in from work and very occasionally during work if I've had a bad night's sleep. This product would work as a room fragrance because it is so strong but I think it's too expensive to use for this purpose.
The product costs £11.65 for 100ml and can be bought from various websites including Neal's Yard Remedies. The product is suitable for vegans and contains 76% natural ingredients. If you like this one, then you may also like to try the Calm Spritzer which serves the opposite purpose to this one and can quieten down the energy in a room and relax the mind.
All in all, this is a great little pick up. It is ok for use on sensitive skin like mine, and doesn't make your face oily or dry as long as you don't spray too close or too much. Used in moderation, the product will refresh and awaken both your body and mind.
