Olay Age Defying Face Wash
by kat1234
I received a bottle of this age defying face wash for mother's day this year. Obviously, with a one year old son, this was a gift that I had chosen. I had seen the Olay age defying range in the shops and was rather intrigued by it. I knew olay was a nice range and I needed a new face wash, so decided to give this one a ... go.
A 150ml bottle (or tube as this is the shape of the packaging) of this costs between £3.30 and £5.00, depending on where you shop and what offers are available at the time etc. The tube is squeezy and stands on the flat cap, which is flipped to remove the wash. The wash itself is white in colour and quite thick and creamy. It has a slightly grainy texture which is the exfoliating micro beads that the wash contains. The wash is said to be 'specially designed to gently cleanse your skin while beginning to fight signs of ageing'. It is also said to: 'help reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve surface skin dullness, help to noticeably smooth skin texture, help to maintain skin's suppleness, help promote natural renewal of the skin's surface to reveal younger looking skin, remove make-up and other impurities from the skin and, finally, hydrate and soften skin. So, quite a few claims made there and some pretty bold ones!
Using the wash, I applied to wet skin and rubbed gently in. It didn't foam or lather at all but a small amount of wash was sufficient enough to wash my face well with. It didn't feel harsh on my skin but the exfoliating properties were noticeable - not in a scratchy or uncomfortable way - and I could feel them in action on my skin. After rinsing, my skin didn't feel at all tight like it does after I use some face washes nor does it feel dry and lacking moisture. My skin does feel clean though and I am confident that all traces of make up are removed using this. The wash does have quite a strong scent, not a soapy sort of smell but quite perfumed. It is quite a unique scent and not one that I can identify. I would rather a face wash was unscented or had a much gentler, softer scent to it but it doesn't put me off in any way. My skin is quite sensitive and has always been fine with this wash so it must be quite gentle on the skin.
As far as the claims made by this wash go, some I have found to be correct, others I am not so sure on. It has improved the appearance of my skin and it is certainly less dull - I think this is largely due to the exfoliating beads which remove the dull dead skin cells and help blood circulation to the skin. It also works well at removing make up and does improve the texture of the skin. My face is not overly lined or wrinkled (yet!) so I am not able to really see any anti-aging effects. I think any anti-aging claims are bold generally and if a product really was age-defying it would surely a) fly of the shelves and b) cost a lot more than this!
All in all, a nice gentle and effective face wash. Good for sensitive skin and definitely has a positive effect on the appearance and feel of the skin on the face. Therefore I can recommend it on this basis but not necessarily for the 'age defying' properties it is said to have. Read the complete review |
