Ponds Anti Wrinkle Nourishing Cream
by juicy_lucy
Nourishing Anti-Wrinkle
I have no loyalty to any specific moisturiser and so when I saw this in my local chemist for99p I decided it was a bargain and would definitely be worth a try.
WHAT DOES IT DO AND HOW?
The cream promises to instantly improve the skin's texture and illuminate skin to reveal a ... youthful radiant glow. It apparently contains SPF 15 which protects the skin against photoageing and it also contains White Tea Extract, Vitamin B3 and UV Protection to help make skin look and feel supple and smooth.
If the claims are true, then this could be a good cream.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
The cream comes packaged in a box wrapped in cellophane which to me seems an excessive amount of packaging. All of the information and instructions are on the back of the box. Inside the box there is a 50ml pot of cream with just the name of the product on the front and a screw on/off pink lid. When I unscrew the lid there is a plastic covering which I have to lift off to reveal the cream.
The cream itself is white with a slight aroma which I don't recognise but which smells quite old fashioned and is a bit floral. Since it's an anti wrinkle cream I would have expected it to be a thicker cream but whilst it's not as thick as I thought it would be, it is a nice consistency and not thin and runny, and quite creamy.
WHO IS IT FOR AND HOW DO I USE IT?
The cream is suitable for skin prone to dryness and mature skin. It should be used every day after cleansing, alone or under make-up. I find that the cream is nice and easy to apply but either my skin is very dry or it's not especially nourishing because I find that I do have to use quite a lot of the cream to make my skin feel moisturised. Usually a scoop of moisturising cream is sufficient for my face but with this one I have to dip my finger in several times. It is absorbed quickly, perhaps too quickly and leaves no sticky residue and it doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy,so that's a plus point.
VERDICT...
The cream was undeniably cheap and having looked around I don't think the full RRP is very much more. However, that said, although it does eventually make my skin feel moisturised a lot of the cream is needed so it doesn't last very long. I like the fact that it feels nice and pure and has had no adverse effects on my skin. As for the wrinkle removing claims, I don't believe these are true. Yes my skin is left feeling soft but definitely no fine line reductions.
Definitely an average cream and not one which lives up to the claims but not a huge disappointment.

Ponds Hydro Nourishing Cream
by Frame
This face cream was in the press recently when Kyle Minogue announced her fabulous skin was all thanks to using this cream twice a day....so for the sake of four pounds I thought it would be worth a try !
The Product
This is a mositurising cream for the face which should be applied daily to soften and hydrate the skin. ... The cream is a very white colour and has an almost medicinal appearance. Consistency wise the cream is light to medium thickness and is easily absorbed into my skin. Upon application it feels light, fresh and moisturising. It gave my skin a nice glow immediately after application although whilst the glow effect didn't last long the cream did keep my skin feeling firm and moisturised all day. I should mention that there is a bit of a fragrance of the cream, somehow reminded me of a scented candle, but it is quite pleasant nonetheless.
Packaging
The cream comes in quite a traditional glass jar with a screw top pink lid. The glass jar is deep and strong and I have dropped this on a hard floor (I'm clumsy!) but it didn't break.
Price
For a jar of 50ml this retails at around three to four pounds depending on which shop you go to. One jar lasts me for around eight weeks , bargain!
Overall
When it comes to keeping wrinkles at bay I haven't noticed any major difference using this cream but it is an effective moisturiser and in my opinion good value for money. Read the complete review |

Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser
by Emma4444
Pond's Cold Cream is one of those slightly vintage products that the papers like to slip into articles about cheap and old methods of skincare while you read sceptically thinking; surely this multi-billion pound industry has developed a bit since the 1920s. It's only natural, after all our grandmothers' beauty regime also included ... girdles and we've moved on since then. It would be entirely understandable to dismiss Pond's Cold Cream, it would also be entirely wrong. Sometimes things don't change because they don't need to. Pond's Cold Cream is one such thing. It comes, very reasonably priced, in attractive glass jars that have since found new homes on my desk holding paperclips and safety pins. Upon opening you are greeted with a pure white cream and an evocative clean smell with just a touch of old fashioned glamour (or perhaps I'm just imaginative). It's thick but easily spreadable and extremely effective; smooth it on, leave it for five minutes and then wash it and whatever make up you were wearing off. It leaves no traces but a pleasant clean sensation. Personally I use it almost as a mask. I spread it on before my bath, leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes and then wash it off with a warm flannel leaving my skin beautifully soft and smooth. The cream however can be a bit heavy during summer months or if you're prone to greasy skin, especially if you use moisturiser afterwards. The fact that it comes in a jar can also make it difficult to get all the cream out as you come to the end of the jar. Ultimately however it is an extremely reasonably priced and effective product; there are reasons the classics never die. Read the complete review |
