Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask
by kubs1989
I purchased the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask for Space NK several months ago. I had heard positive things about the 'clean' skincare brand. The mask claims to be a potent bio active peel mask designed to renew the complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines and dramatically improve skin tone. The product contains glycolic ... and lactic acid along with natural fruit acids from passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple. There is also papain from papaya exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, encouraging cell turnover and smoothing fine lines.
The packaging is quite simple, reinforcing the clean ethos of the brand. The mask is contained in a transparent bottle with a pump dispenser, allowing you to see how much product is contained within. The mask has a gel like consistency, which is clearly derived from fruit acid, it is sweet smelling nectar; which is orange in colour. It is almost seems edible! It is fairly thick and applies to the skin easily, I find three pumps is enough for a full face application. Once on the face, it is colourless; just a wet sheen is visible.
REN recommend leaving this mask on for 10 minutes and then wiping it off with a dampened muslin cloth (the cloth comes with the mask) I tend to leave it on for around 10, sometimes I leave it on for longer if I lose track of time. It does state that some tingling is may occur when using this; I have not experienced this sensation when I have used the mask, and I have normal skin. The mask does not drip off the face, or dry. It remains gelatinous throughout. The product is easy to remove, the cloth is of reasonable quality, not abrasive, this wipes the mask away. Once removed, I swill my face with water and I can immediately notice the difference from using this.
My skin feels soft and smooth, it also looks brighter, thanks to the acids removing the dead skin cells. I have used this mask multiple times over the last few months and I have always noticed a difference in my skin tone and texture. It is recommended that this mask is used once a week, but I tend to use it around once a fortnight if I feel my skin needs a boost. Despite the use of acid, my skin does not feel tight or dry following the use of this mask. I have not noticed any dry patches or irritation.
The results are long lasting, my skin feels soft and smooth for at least a week after using this, hence why I don't need o use it every week. Due to the results, I feel £30 for the 50ml of this mask is justified and will be happy to purchase it again in the future. Read the complete review |

REN Hydra Calm Global Protection Day Cream
by stickyangel
I received this moisturiser in a little mini kit of REN products that I got free with a magazine last month. After looking around online I found the full-sized (50ml) version costs £27.
My mini version comes in a plastic tube with a screw off lid, but the full version comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser on the top. The ... design is very nice and looks very high quality which I would want from something so expensive.
The moisturiser has quite a thick cream consistency and a strong and rather strange smell which I can't even atempt to describe. It's not an unpleasant smell though, just strange. The cream feels quite thick when I apply it which worries me as it feels quite heavy on my combination skin.
It doesn't sink in as quickly as I would like, but once it has it leaves my skin feeling extremely soft and smooth. My skin is quite sensitive nad so the soothing element of the cream definitely interested me and I felt it worked well to soothe any irritation and calm down redness and other visible signs of irritation. It also moisturises very effectively making any dry spots or irritations less noticeable.
The only problem I have with it, and for me personally it's a major one, is that it's just too heavy for my combination/oily skin and it leaves my skin feeling a little clogged and dirty after a while and looking very shiny. If it wasn't for this I would rate it very highly but this is an important factor for me. Read the complete review |

REN Hydra Calm Global Protection Day Cream
by 2012Saver
REN skincare products were recommended to me by a make up artist when having my make up done for a wedding. Before this I had never heard of them, but since I tried them, it is safe to say that I am addicted and will probably be a REN customer for life.
REN skincare products pride themselves on being free from chemicals - they ... contain no artificial fragrance or colours, animal ingredients, petrochemicals or sulphate detergents. I have really sensitive skin and used to suffer from eczema on my face, but since starting to use REN products around a year ago this has cleared up completely.
REN Hydra-Calm Global Protection cream is my moisturiser of choice. This costs £27.00 for a 50ml bottle. The bottle itself is a cylinder shaped tube with a pump top. It is clear plastic enabling you to see how much product is left and it also has a clear plastic lid. The instructions for use are printed on the side of the tube alongside the ingredients. When you buy this moisturiser it also comes in a cardboard box, which in my opinion is a waste of packaging, as the tube is sturdy enough not to require this, and I always put the box in the bin straight away!
The moisturiser itself is a white, fairly thick creamy consistency. When you pump it out of the bottle I find I usually need around 1 and a half pumps to cover my whole face. When I apply, the moisturiser is instantly absorbed and leaves my face shine free. My face immediately feels moisturised, calm and refreshed, and this feeling lasts all day. My make up glides on easily over the top of this moisturiser.
The scent of the moisturiser is lovely. It is a very natural smell but I cannot think what to liken this to. It is a pleasant smell though, and isn't overpowering.
I use this moisturiser day and night, but I do find it more of a day time moisturiser and would like something a bit heavier for overnight to give my skin more of a deeper moisturise.
One 50ml tube of this moisturiser lasts me around 2 months, using morning and night every day. The price tag is on the hefty side, but for something that keeps my skin so clear, it is definitely worth it. The price tag may not be worth it for those of you who have normal skin and can get away with using cheaper products!
REN Skincare products are available online at www.renskincare.com or also in department stores such as House of Fraser, John Lewis etc. I usually shop online through the official website as they do offer some little perks. If you register with the REN website you can collect reward points with every order to save up and get a free product. They also allow you to choose your 'favourite product' and they give 10% off this for life (you can choose a new favourite every 6 months). With every online order you get to choose two sample size products which I keep for when I am travelling. Shipping is usually free with an order of over £40-50 so I usually buy a few products at once.
In summary this product is a great moisturiser that I will probably continue to use for a long time due to my sensitive skin. I would definitely recommend it to anyone suffering from sensitive or irritated skin, but for those with normal skin it probably just isn't worth the price tag!! I am giving this product 4* just because I think it is a bit overpriced.
