SBC Collagen Gel
by Chippytarka
This was one of my many purchases from my guily pleasure, which is QVC. It was bought in a kit with other products such as the 3 in 1 cleanser, Arnica Gel etc.
This collagen gel is made by a company called SBC. Yes, you can purchase them from QVC but also is a range alot of professional beauty therapists use and beauty cash ... and carry/beauty stores stock and sell. This isnt something that is readily available on the high street as far as Im aware eg you cant pick it up from Tesco.
SBC have been in the beauty business for over 25 years and stock a wide range of facial body products. They are renowned for their gels, such as arnica, and these products are all easy to use, try to contain natural ingredients where and when possible and better still, SBC are a British brand!
What does it do and how do you use it?
Its a gel that can be placed on the face and the body. Its water based, so light in texture, sinks into the skin easily and is supposed to add moisture to the skin, and overall improve the look and feel of the skin.
It can be used under moistuiser, place a decent amount on the skin as a mask, dab around under the eyes like an eye cream. Another tip to try is they state that the gels are mixable, so you can mix them and tailor make your own gel depending on what effect you want e.g maybe if skin is alittle sore from the sun, mixing aloe vera gel and collagen would be soothing and moisturising.
The benefits of collagen products are well known. Its nice to see this is a gel form, thats available in various sizes from 125ml to a whooping 1ltre. Its affordable, when bought from the right place and in a kit and is to use. I found the smell was clean and fresh and not male or female directed. It does sink in and not sticky and because of the size, I have the 500ml version, I didnt feel I needed to scrimp and could use as much as I liked. All of the sizes it comes in, except one, are in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser that can be locked, so you can measure your amount to use, ensure it doesnt spill and the air doesnt get into it so very hygenic. Once opened it has a 24 month shelf life.
I didnt feel that the gel changed my skin dramatically. I dont suffer issues such as lines and wrinkles, so cant comment on that, but did feel it added moisture to my skin. Whether it was placed on the face or body, I would need to add another more moisturing product on top eg body lotion, as my skin can be super dry. Read the complete review |

SBC 3 in 1 Cleansing & Toning Gel
by Chippytarka
I used this product, not in the pump dispenser but in a slightly smaller size, because it was in a kit I got from QVC.The kit itself, when you brke down the cost of each product, meant that this cleanser was priced very well and very affordable.
Whether a product works or not as the case may be, I at least want to enjoy using it. ... Whether that would be the smell, texture, ease of use. Not quite the case with this product. I didnt mind the texture, quite gel like, thick but still had plenty of movement in it and easy to use. The smell I really did not like. It did not smell very natural in fact quite synthetic. The worst bit for me was if the product went into my mouth when trying to remove it, the taste was awful! I tried different ways to take it off the skin etc wash off, muslin cloth, and for me no matter how I did it it felt a chore and I felt I had to be very thorough. Not something I could use quickly, get it off the face and run off to do my millions of things during the day. It left my skin feeling alittle tight, and I did not see any visible change to my skin. Although, it did not make it worse. Not for me. Read the complete review |

SBC Propolis Gel
by laura_1711
I first came across SBC Propolis gel from QVC. I had watched about the whole SBC range and wanted to try different parts of the range but propolis was the one gel that really appealed to me. The only thing which had put me off ordering was the price of delivery but as the set was such good value I decided to go for it. I often fall for ... whatever is on QVC and as I had such high hopes for Propolis gel I was hoping I would not be let down.
Propolis gel is packaged in the same way as most of the SBC range - it is in a simple white plastic pump action bottle with simple label with some information on Propolis gel on. The packaging to all SBC is simple but they have mentioned before how it is to save money, I think the packaging is really effective.
Propolis is created by bees and is a mix of resin wax and essential oils. I had never really understood what Propolis was but with my SBC order there was an information booklet which provided lots of information. So from the booklet Propolis contains 'amino acids, minerals, vitamins and bioflavanoids'. The main thing I know is that it is effective!
How to use
When applying Propolis gel to the skin it is different to most other gels as it sinks straight into the skin and no sticky gel is left on the skin. On contact with the skin you will feel a cooling and moisturising sensation, it really is a pleasure to use. Propolis gel is particularly good for chapped and sensitive skin as it has a very calming effect on the skin. I find Propolis works really well on spots, applying a thin layer to clean skin takes the redness out of the spot and the area around. This is the main reason I have used it, I apply it to the blemished area and within 5 minutes I can apply my normal moisturiser over the top.
Availability and Price
SBC is difficult to get, the main place I have found is QVC. The best value and way to get Propolis gel is in a set with other products. Some examples of sets on QVC at the moment are:-
- 500ml Propolis gel and 500ml Propolis Bath Soak - £40.00
- 500ml Propolis gel and 125ml Propolis gel - £30.00
- 500ml Propolis gel, 500ml Arnica Bath Soak and 175ml Arnica warming gel - £32.40
But these change all the time so it's worth checking to see what's available at the time of ordering.
Although Propolis gel is not something which I need to use every day, it is something which I like to know I have if it is needed - I would not be without! Read the complete review |
