Tesco Vitamin E Moisturising Lotion
by HelenW
I've recently emarbarked on an economy drive and my moisturiser is one thing to have been lumped in that category. I'm careful about swapping skin products as my skin is naturally very dry. I know that Simple works well for my skin, especially the moisturiser. However, it is rather expensive. I came across this moisturiser in Tesco and ... thought that it was worth giving a go.
***Product***
This moisturiser from Tesco is their own brand of cosmetics. I chose the Vitamin E moisturising lotion because it is specially for sensitive skin, which mine most certainly is! It's described as being a softening daily moisturiser, which is fragrance free. Vitamin E is supposed to be good for skin care, and helps it to keep its moisture and makes dry skin much healthier.
***Packaging***
This moisturiser is in one of those squeezy bottles which stand on their lid, which is very useful as you don't have to precariously balance it to get the last bits out! Also, I don't have to cut the bottle open like my mum does with the brand that she uses just to get it all out! It's quite plain, and has 3 small flowers at the top of the bottle, with the description "Softening daily moisturiser" down the side under the usual Tesco logo. At the bottom is "Fragrance free vitamin E for sensitive skin". Turning it over has the list of ingredients and all the usual warnings.
***Use***
Squeezing this moisturiser out of the bottle you can see that it is not too thick and is a white colour. Application of this is easy, as it rubs in well. Once you have applied this, it doesn't feel heavy which is great. I always feel like thick products are going to block up my pores and give me horrendous spots! One thing that I have found with this product is that you do have to apply regularly to maintain a moisturised feel. I apply this twice a day, once in the morning before applying foundation and once in the evening when I've taken my make up off with cleanser. I found that if I don't apply, my skin doesn't stay moisturised and can get dry. When I don't skip an application, it maintains its moisturised appearance!
This is a fragrance free product, which dry skin products generally are. Whilst it's not fragranced, I think it still has a fragrance! It smells lovely, and reminds me of baby products.
***Price***
I purchased this moisturiser for 74p which is an absolute bargain, especially for 100ml. With my economy drive in mind, the price appealed to me! I brought this product while it was on offer, although I believe the regular price is £1.34, which is still very reasonable!
Overall, it's a great product. You can't expect wonders for this price, but it does what it says, just make sure you keep the routine up if you have dry skin like I do! Read the complete review |

Tesco Cucumber Facial Wash
by -becky-
I often have several different face washes on the go at once as I think changing mine every so often stops my skin getting used to one in particular. It might sound a little odd but I think that if my skin gets used to the ingredients in a product it might not work as well as it does when I first began to use it, so I switch between a ... couple that I know are reliable and aren't harsh on my sensitive and dry skin.
At just 74p for a 150ml tube in Tesco's I thought this cucumber face wash would be worth a try to add to my small collection. Like a lot of people, I tend to judge quality on the price. High end skin care brands often work well (not always) but also have the price tag to match, so I'd much rather save my money and find something cheaper by a bit of trial and error and also reading reviews to guide me on my way.
The tube for this face wash is pretty basic, it's plain white with grey and green detailing and writing on the front. Crisp white always catches my eye as a fresh and natural product, which is what I hoped this would be. The lid is easy to open and allows just the right amount of product out of the tube for each use. I found that the clear gel product had just a nice consistency to it and wasn't too runny at all.
Being enriched with vitamin E and also being a cucumber face wash which is generally meant to soothe irritation and give a bit more of a radiant look to your skin, I was hoping I was onto a winner with the new found bargain...how wrong was I?!
I used an average amount of the face wash (the same as I'd use with any other) and found it didn't lather up very well. I continued to apply it to my face in circular motions as instructed on the tube and massaged it into my skin. After rinsing it off I could feel a tightness in my skin straight away and it also felt very drying to my skin. About 10 minutes after use my skin went a little blotchy, red and left me with a slight burning sensation on my face. I do have sensitive skin and react to a few things, so I don't know whether it was just my skin type or the product itself. Just to make sure that it wasn't anything else that my skin had reacted to, I tried it again on another occasion paying more attention to what I'd put on my skin beforehand but still found that it had the same affect. It definitely is not suitable for me and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else with sensitive skin either!
Maybe the 74p price tag does have a downside. It was worth a try I suppose. Read the complete review |
