The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist
by Candyperfumegirl
I just love The Body Shop and I am often visiting their store or website spending too much money on their products. Recently I saw a box set of different Body Shop items at a discounted price and just couldn't resist buying it especially as it contained some products I had been wanting to try for a while, one of which was this Vitamin E ... face mist, which I am reviewing today.
The Body Shops Vitamin e face mist is presented in a 100ml baby pink plastic bottle with a spray nozzle on top. The brand logo and product name is clearly displayed on the front along with claim that this product will provide an "instantly refreshing moisture boost". It is suitable for all skin types.
General information is given on the back including a rather extensive ingredients list, directions for use and general warnings. Once opened the product has a twelve month use by date.
As with all Body Shop products this face mist has not been tested on animals.
Vitamin E is great for the skin as it is an antioxidant which not only protects skin but helps repair it too. The spray also contains rose water, an anti inflammatory known for its soothing moisturising benefits.
To use you simply hold the bottle approximately 15cm from the face and apply a gentle spritz, personally I find 1-2 sprays is sufficient. The mist has a lovely floral rose scent, initially it is quite strong but this does fade a little once applied. I quite like the smell but believe it may no be to every ones taste. The mist dries into the skin quickly and efficiently leaving no unwanted sticky residues behind, it leaves skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. During this lovely weather we have been having recently this product has really come into its own, it really cools and soothes the face providing a well needed pick me up. It works well at giving a little moisture boost when needed. The bottle is plastic and light enough to pop into a handbag too which is always a bonus with this type of product. The mist can be applied to bare skin or over make up, it helps to set make up - keeping it in place throughout the day. My skin type is normal and I certanly feel this mist works well on my skin, those with dry skin may find it beneficial also, but those prone to oily skin may want to give this one a miss.
A 100ml bottle costs £8.00, initially I thought this to be a little expensive but in fairness the bottle has lasted me absolutely ages. However, as the Body Shop often have promotions and sales on it is certainly worth waiting for some sort of reduction rather than paying the full price. Read the complete review |

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Toner
by alyson29
Suffering with T-zone skin is an issue for me, particularly as my forehead and nose gleam if I do not use the correct products. As a result, I favour using toners, which are an essential part of my daily beauty regime.
One of my recent finds was The Body Shop's Tea Tree range, which I anticipated would be perfect for my ... needs, particularly as tea tree contains antiseptic properties as well as assisting to fight skin blemishes. The product was a new concept for me as instead of a simple toner, the product contains mattifying powders, which The Body Shop claim will leave skin shine free.
The sturdy plastic bottle needs to be shaken well to mix the contents and after easily flipping open the lid a small amount of the powerful smelling liquid needs to be dispensed onto a cotton wool pad and applied to the surface of the skin. My initial use was all over my face, but due to the few dry patches that I suffer on my cheeks I experienced a slight burning sensation, which was a little uncomfortable. Consequently, further applications were solely to the T-zone area, which are the areas that requiring mattifying due to excess oil.
The toner offers a wonderfully cooling sensation and leaves my skin feeling refreshed with any traces of dirt and grime having been removed with a single application. Furthermore, it does not leave any residue or cause any dryness or tightness to the skin. Whilst the toner is suitable for removing foundation I prefer to carry out this process with baby lotion. In addition to thoroughly cleansing the skin, the toner assists in closing the pores although it isn't effective enough to improve the appearance of an enlarged one situated beneath my nose.
Whilst I was initially a little apprehensive about the toner's abilities to assist with the shine on my forehead and nose, particularly as harsh facial products can often strip the skin of its natural oils and cause dryness. However, I must admit to being impressed despite its mattifying properties only lasting a few hours. I would highly recommend the toner for use on oily patches of skin although I would avoid applying to dry areas.
You can purchase The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner at £5 for a 250 ml bottle. Read the complete review |

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil
by thehonesttruth
I'm lucky enough not to get spots too often, but when I do they tend to be spots that just don't want to shift, and usually in a place where I'm really aware of them. The most recewnt persistent spot has been right on the end of my nose where I can actually see it out of the corner of my eye. A friend recommended that I try tea tree oil ... on it, and knowing that tea tree oil has antibacterial and astringent properties, I decided to give it a try. Luckily my friend had a bottle of The Body Shop tea tree oil I could use, which saved me the £7 it would have cost to buy a 10ml bottle.
Tea tree oil is antibacterial, antiseptic, and antifungal - it's natures disinfectant. This product from the body shop is already diluted to make it safe for use directly on the skin. To use, you simply apply to the skin using your fingertips or a cotton bud.
Now, I'll be honest with you - I can't just leave my spots alone. I do rub at and scratch them, so by the time I got round to using them, it's fair to say the spot on my nose (which was one of those annoying under-the-skin ones that can't be popped) was a little red and angry. Applying this product, which is actually not as greasy as the word 'oil' would lead me to expect, led to a tingling feeling in the area that stopped just short of becoming annoying. I could feel my skin tightening a little, but it wasn't painful and didn't burn.
There wasn't any immediate difference, but after a few days I noticed that I could wrinkle my nose without feeling that annoying spot in there. It looked a little less red and angry, perhaps because I'd consciously left it alone while the tea tree did it's work. Within a week (with me applying twice a day), the huge red angry bump was gone. I was pleased that the oil was not at all visible on the skin once applied - it was completely clear and absorbed quickly. It does have quite a strong smell, which was made worse for me by the location of the spot - it's not particularly unpleasant, but I find it very dis-infectanty.
The one downside is I did feel it made the skin on my nose quite tight and dry- not so much asto be visible, but I did feel the need for a little extra moisturiser for a week or so after I stopped using this.
I'm giving this 4 stars - whilst it did tackle the big old spot, and get rid of it without it popping and scarring, it did dry out my skin, and I do think it is a little expensive at £7 for 10ml. Read the complete review |
