Lush Tea Tree Water
by EnajYelrebmik
Firstly, my skin type is combination to oily (more towards oily). I suffer from occasional breakouts.
I'm always very dubious to try skincare products, as some tend to give me spots. However, as i'd heard a lot of good things about Lush and the natural ingredients in their products, i thought i would venture into this. I'm a ... lover of face sprays, i don't think you can beat spraying a cold mist on your face on a warm day.
So after googling around, i decided to purchase this Lush tea tree spray. The small bottle (100g) retails at £3.95 and the large bottle (250g) retails at £7.25. I decided to go with the smaller bottle just to test the water - although i now regret this as i have fallen in love!
The smell of this product is the only disadvantage for me. Ironically, I cannot stand the smell of tea tree. However, this is a personal thing. The scent is not as strong as pure tea tree oil, but still very strong.
You can use this tea tree water one of two ways - 1. Spray directly onto the face and allow to dry. or 2. Spray onto a cotton pad and sweep across the face. I use both of these methods depending on my method of cleansing. If I use a cream cleanser with a cotton pad, i'll use a cotton pad for the toner too to remove any excess cleanser. If I've just got out of the shower, i spray it directly onto my face and leave to dry.
I have now replaced my previous toner with this. I can't say it reduces my spots greatly, but since using this i have noticed my spots have stopped cropping up. Whether this is a coincidence or not i'm unsure, but i'll thank Lush for the clear face!
Overall, this is a lovely product even if you don't suffer from spots/oily skin. It's refreshing and great for after the shower. It leaves your skin feeling soft and squeaky clean. The only downside is how expensive it is!! Read the complete review |

Liz Earle Skin Tonic
by Twizzley94
I am a massive fan of Liz Earle's products after being introduced to them in my darkest of skin days - my teens. I still to this day have trouble with my skin but it was worse when I first started using this product. My skin was very prone to breakouts and it was a nightmare to try and control. I would give anything a go and this was in ... my bathroom at home because my mum uses it religiously, so i decided to nab a bit.
Liz Earle's products are famous for being high quality, nourishing and gentle on the skin and for not containing all the nasty chemicals you often find in these types of products. The naturally active ingredients include aloe vera to revitalize and soften and calendula, chamomile, cucumber and natural source vitamin E to soothe and refresh the skin.
To use simply dab onto a piece of cotton wool or pad, then sweep all over your face and neck. Ideally you would use the Hot Cloth Cleanser before using this to give your skin the ultimate pamper treatment.
Whenever I use Liz Earle I feel like I am having a spa treatment. The products are so soothing and gentle on the skin they will not irritate even the most sensitive of skin. The smell is very floral which again adds to the luxurious feel to the product. I can use this all over my eyes, nostrils, all the most delicate of areas and I do not get the slighted bit of irritation. Instead I feel that if I use this first thing in the morning it actually 'wakes up' my skin and I am left feeling clean, fresh and ready to face the day. By the amount of dirt present on the cotton pad it is evident that it is doing its job.
I also use it again at night to remove my makeup sometimes and it is very good at doing so, even waterproof makeup. It often takes 3 or so cotton pads if I don't use the hot cloth cleanser beforehand if I'm feeling lazy. However with very little effort and force it picks up the makeup. I work it slightly around the eyes especially if I have had a lot of eye makeup on that day but it gets rid of it no problem. It does what I need it to do!
I can say my skin has improved for using this product combined with the hot cloth cleanser. I notice that my skin is a lot brighter and it feels a lot cleaner and healthier when I use these products on a regular basis. Due to its gentle, soft nature it does feel more nourishing than the harsh cheaper products I tend to put on my face nowadays because as a student I can't afford the upkeep.
The retail price for this is £13.25 so this is high end product but it definitely shows. I go back to this again and again because I absolutely love the way it makes my skin feel and for me, it is absolutely flawless. Don't even think about it this is so worth the investment. Fantastic product. A very easy 5 stars. Read the complete review |

Clean & Clear Daily Pore Toner
by Hallha
I have never really been one to apply a toner after cleansing, but I had read great reviews on this product and considering the price was only $4USD, I figured "Eh, why not?" This toner is not my favorite product, but I will probably buy again if it ever runs out.
PACKAGING:
The Clean&Clear Daily Pore Toner ... is not packaged in any special way. It holds 8oz of product that would probably last 3 or 4 months if used just twice daily. The only problem I have found with the packaging is that the hole where the product comes out of is way too big. Way too much product comes out if you're not careful. Honestly, this isn't a problem because once you figure out how slowly you have to pour it you will probably never spill too much of it again. So fair warning!
DIRECTIONS:
The instructions for use are very clear and to the point. They state that the product is meant for every day use on clean skin. They state that a person should only apply it once daily at first because it can cause excessive drying. A great mend for this would be to not just apply the product all over the face, but to dip a q-tip in the liquid and then apply directly onto blemishes or areas that are very oily.
THE PRODUCT ITSELF:
The consistency of the product is 100% pure liquid. The product is easy to spread around the face and it gives a minty/menthol tingly feeling. I love the feel of the product. I do not use it every day because the more I use it, the less it helps so I usually only use it once a day... if that. It is definitely a great product for oily skinned people like myself and it doesn't burn as I expected it just leaves a tingly feeling wherever it is applied. It sucks up oil and leaves my skin shine free for several hours! When I apply it to my face and then look at my cotton ball or Q-tip it is easy to see how much facial cleansers are actually leaving behind because this product picks up EVERYTHING.
INGREDIENS:
The ingredients are pretty ordinary except I did notice that it contains 0.5% salycilic acid- an acne fighting agent and it does fight acne pretty well. Another ingredient I noticed was Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract. I am a firm believer in the aloe vera plant so this finding was crucial in my decision to purchase the product. The Aloe is actually very soothing. I am sure that the Aloe extract added to the product is the reason the product doesn't burn badly when applied.
Overall, it is an okay product. I don't know if I will buy it again, but I will definitely use the rest of what I have. If you are a toner user I would imagine this would be worth the few dollars to try it out! Read the complete review |
