Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner
by CosmicLove
~ Why I Bought It ~
I tend to pick things up whenever I see them on offer (even if I don't particularly need them!) and I bought this toner a couple of weeks ago as it was half price.
~ Price ~
The retail price for this toner is £2.99 so it's quite a lot cheaper than the toner that I was using previously. I only ... paid £1.50 for this toner due to it being on offer but I would quite happily pay the full price.
~ My Opinion ~
I bought this toner mainly because it was on offer but also because I quite liked the sound of it. It has a blend of active ingredients including chamomile and witch hazel and it also contains pro vitamin B5, which is said to restore, soften & smoothe skin.
I was really pleasantly surprised by the ingredients seeing as it is quite a cheap product to be honest! It is not perfumed or coloured & has no harsh chemicals in it which is what appealed to me the most as I have such sensitive skin and I liked the fact that it is alcohol free too. The toner comes in a green bottle which is tinted so I am able to see the toner through the bottle - really handy for telling how much I have left!
The bottle has the ingredients on the back and directions on how to use it as well as a really brief description of what the product is and what each of the three 'nutrient' ingredients do. The bottle has a flip lid which has a small hole from which the toner comes out of which is very handy given how runny/watery the toner is - the consistency of it is just like water.
I wasn't expecting the toner to smell of much to be honest seeing as it is fragrance free but it actually does have a smell to it which sort of smells 'off' - that's the only word I can think to describe it. Although the smell obviously isn't that nice, it isn't overpowering and it doesn't linger, so it doesn't bother me hugely but it this factor is definitely going to play an important role in how many stars I give the product!
Using the toner is easy and I use it exactly how I would use any other toner. I simply put some on to a cotton pad & wipe my face with it after I've cleansed. The toner is runny but I like that it is not so Jenny that it soaks a cotton pad through, so I can use both sides of the cotton pad. The picks up any last traces of dirt and make up really quickly and my skin is left feeling refreshed and I also find that it provides quite a cooling feeling which lasts for a couple of minutes which is definitely an advantage given the warm weather that we are currently having.
The toner leaves my skin feeling clean & nice and soft and although it doesn't leave it feeling hydrated or moisturised, it doesn't make it feel dry. I have very dry skin though so people with oily or normal skin might find that their skin feels a little more moisturised. It doesn't irritate my skin and no residue or anything is ever left behind.
~ All in All ~
A cheap, gentle and effective toner. The slightly stale sort of smell that it has lets it down a little though so I am going to knock one star off. Apart from that it is the perfect toner and I will be continuing to use it for the foreseeable future! Read the complete review |
