“ Brand: All For Eve / Type: Body Lotion/Moisturiser / Subcategory: Body Balm / Skin type: for all types / What it does: regenerates, Recovers, Protects, Nourishes „
I received Eve's Balm in a beauty box several months ago. I had never heard of this brand, which fund 'the eve appeal' which is a gynecology cancer research charity. Proceeds of this and other All for Eve products help fund this appeal.
Eve's Balm can be purchased online, and from several retailers including from Tesco and TKMaxx it has an RRP of £4.95 for 7g of product. Eve's Balm is a 100% natural, multi purpose recovery balm that combines a soothing blend of lavender, wild mint and chamomile, to help nourish and protect the skin.
The balm is contained in a white, cylindrical pot; which also houses a mirror to aid facial applications of this balm. The balm is a solid, which warms with the touch of fingers - much like Vaseline. A few swipes of the fingers gathers up enough product for a light application of balm on the skin; which can be built up if desired. I estimate that the product would last a couple of months of continuous use. I apply this to my lips, hands, cuticles and any other dry patches on my body. I do find that it requires several applications of balm on slightly larger areas of the body, like the fingers, to feel adequately moisturised. Once applied, the balm feels soothing and moisturising on my skin without a greasy residue - something that I find occurs with Vaseline.
The scent is quite a delicate fragrance of lavender which is not overpowering or synthetic due to the use of essential oils. The issue I have with this this balm is that the effects are short lived on any area of the body, other than the lips. I have dry skin on my index fingers, once I have applied the balm to this area, within 30 mins the balm has been absorbed and my fingers feel dry once again. My lips do however feel moisturised for longer, for around a couple of hours once applied.
I do think this is more effective at soothing and nourishing than a barrier product like Vaseline. It is a useful product to relieve immediate irritation or dryness, until a longer wearing product can be applied. It is however, not very effective at long term nourishment of dry or chapped skin.
I will continue to keep this in my handbag and use when out and about as a multipurpose moisturiser - much like a tin of Vaseline. When in need, I will use a more effective dry skin cream.
This is a review of All For Eve Eve's Balm Multi-Purpose Recovery Balm which I received in a beauty box recently. I was excited to try this multi functioning balm primarily as a lip balm but also for dry areas.
The pot is small and white with a nice rubbery texture on it that is easy to grip and helps when you want to flip it open. Inside there is even a mirror on the inside lid which gives a very quality feel to the packaging. The pot is hinged and very easy to open.
The actual balm sits in the base of the pot and is quite solid, a lot harder than Vaseline and to use it you have to dig it out which can be fun when you have long nails!
I use this as a lip balm but also as a barrier cream when I had a bit of a sore nose to prevent it getting any worse. The balm is quite solid and melts a bit on contact with warm skin or lips and does seem to sink in easily but doesn't last very long either so you do need to reapply it a lot. The consistency is a bit waxy and the product has a smell to it that reminded me a lot of the Virgin Vie similar multi purpose balm that I have used before in the past.
I really wanted to like this product, I loved the packaging and the concept behind this charity organisation: the sole purpose of raising funds and awareness for gynaecological cancer research by donating all net profits to the Eve Appeal. I love lip moisturising products and the tiny mirror in the lid made it have lots of handbag appeal too. For me, the product was a little too solid and waxy and the smell was a little bit too strong but it wouldn't stop me using the balm. I think it is good as a multi purpose product too and very dry skin can benefit from a massage with this balm on areas like elbows and heels.
The little pots of this balm are priced at £4.95 which is quite reasonable when compared to similar products with the added bonus that profits go to a very worthy charity.
I liked the balm and was pleased to get it in the beauty box but it wasn't my favourite product in the box and it hasn't become my 'go to' in the beauty drawer, I have other balms that I reach for first so I probably won't repurchase this again in the future but on the other hand, it was OK to use and you got used to the smell of the balm in the end.
