It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the Amie skincare range, not only is the entire range natural but it can also be used by those with sensitive skin. I have in the past used a few products from Amie and it is fair to say I have loved everything I have used, be it a mask, a face wash or a moisturising cream, each and every product has been wonderful. Amie is the French Word for a friend and the skincare company of a woman named Fiona Parkhouse who used to work for Estee Lauder. She had an idea about making skincare products for her daughter and says the reason she decided to do this was because she wanted something that would "respect her still child-perfect skin but deal with the changes that puberty was starting to bring, such as increased oiliness and breakouts. But I didn't want her using harsh, aggressive chemicals or medicated products. I wanted a natural range that would be gentle yet effective, appealing and affordable". Not only that, but every product within the Amie range is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Let me introduce you to a product called Amie Skincare New Leaf Skin Exfoliating Polish. Described as being a moisturising exfoliating cream wash that cleans deep down into pores removing excess oil and dirt. What I love about this product is that it is really creamy and it smells absolutely delightful not to mention that the exfoliating beads are really gentle on your skin. The exfoliating ingredients within this product are finely ground bamboo and jojoba beads which are gentle yet effective enough to remove those pesky dry and dead skin cells from your face as well as to stimulate the skin's circulation ensuring healthy blood flow which gives you that healthly looking glow. When it comes to exfoliating, I believe you should exfoliate at least once, if not twice a week and you need to find something that works with your skin, that isn't overly harsh or abrasive because you can end up scratching your skins surface and that is quite painful. As Amie explain: "Exfoliating lifts off dead skin cells from the surface of the skin that can make the skin look dull and which can block pores leading to spots and blackheads. What's more, exfoliating also helps lift dirt, oil and grime out of pores leaving your skin super clean". When I use this on my skin, I don't find it harsh or abrasive but I can, when massaging my skin, feel the little beads working away to remove those dead and dry skin cells along with any impurities such as dirt and grime and it is also soft enough to use on your neck and decolletage area too. Once I clean my face of any left over product I never find I have red or blotchy patches on my skin where I have been a little over zealous with massaging, instead what I find is soft, smooth skin and that healthy fresh glow I previously mentioned, add to that the fresh clean skin feeling we all like to achieve. Mango and cocoa seed butters form that lovely scent I described earlier and they are added to help soften and moisturise whilst orange blossom and sweet almond tone and soften your skin. A fab product at a purse friendly price at £4.95 and you can purchase online via the Amie website or find in stores such as Waitrose and John Lewis. Also these product are cruelty free, Suitable for Vegans & Vegetarians, are not tested on animals and do not contain: ---> Parabens, ---> Mineral Oils, ---> Sulphates, ---> GM Ingredients ---> or Petrochemicals For me these products are more than more the price they cost, they are brilliant for my skin, I love their scent and best of all they are readily available to purchase.
I bought this product after reading that you should try and exfoliate 1-2 times every week, and decided I'd try and incorporate this into my weekly beautifying regime. I bought this from Boots, and although the tube is smaller than most brands, the packaging is really pretty and the fact that it is see through and I could see that it looked like appealed to me. Also, when I opened the lid and took a sniff it smelled very nice. I can't remember exactly how much I paid for it, but it was somewhere around the £3.00 mark. I try and use this product once a week - on a Sunday night. I don't cleanse my face beforehand, I just use this exfoliator on it's own with warm water, making sure I get in to all the nooks and crannies, and also make sure I do my neck too. The texture is quite thin, and it doesn't lather up like I expected it to, but it has a lovely smell. The exfoliating beads aren't harsh and scratchy, which is nice, and it rinses away really easily without leaving any greasy residue behind, which I have found happens with some exfoliators. Afterwards, my skin always feels healthy and glowing without feeling tight and dry, and even though any blackheads that I have acquired during the week haven't disappeared, they do look smaller. I just follow up with my usual night time moisturiser and Bob's your uncle!
I decided to try this exfoliating face wash by amie when i was in boots a few months ago looking for a new facial exfoliator. I had never heard of this product or any other products made by amie, but the packaging caught my eye and it costs roughly the same as other well known brands of exfoliators such as loreal. I thought i would give it a go, as it looked a really pretty pink colour which i thought would look nice on the side of my bath! I love trying new skin care products, and as i had never heard of the brand before, i didnt really know what to expect. I was actually really suprised by this product, i thought it was very good. Exfoliators are used to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, if you dont do this then it can lead to blocked pores and dull skin. I only use an exfoliator on my face around 3 times a week, they are too harsh on your skin to use every single day, and you dont really need to use a product like this every day anyway. This product really worked for my skin, after the first use my skin felt so soft and smooth so you could tell it had really exfoliated my skin. This did not cause my skin to go dry and it didnt irritate me either. I thought it was actually quite moisturising for an exfoliator, usually they really dry your skin out, but this one didnt. My skin felt really clean and refreshed after using it and it was gentle on my sensitive skin. This product contains bamboo and jojoba beads which are what you can feel in this face wash, which removes the dead skin cells from your face. For the moisturising effect they have added mango and cocoa seed butters. They have also added orange blossom and sweet almond to tone and soften the skin. These sound like quite natural ingredients, which is good as this makes it less harsh on the skin. This amie exfoliator is available in most boots stores and costs £3.99 for a 90g tube. I have had it about 6 weeks and still loads left as its only used a few times a week, and you only need a little bit of it. This facial exfoliator is actually one of the best i have tried, i am so pleased with the results, especially as it is a brand i had never heard of! My skin feels soft and smooth and is really clear. This product is highly recommended!
I'd seen the Amie brand in Superdrug some time ago and liked the packaging but never really paid a huge amount of attention. I noticed that Boots now also stock it - although if it's anything like my local store, they don't have a huge selection of stuff - so I decided to give the face scrub a try. Really the brand is aimed at teenage skin, and at 24, I'm a bit older than the target market, but I still wanted to try this, as it's paraben free, sodium laureth sulfate free, and contains no mineral oils or petrochemicals. I have read lots of conflicting information about whether or not these things are bad for your health or not. I think the official line is that they're safe to use, although there is a lot of research to the contrary. Even so, I think at the time I purchased this, I had worried myself into a state, thinking my excessive use of beauty products was probably going to kill me and being 93.8% natural, this seemed like the safest option! The scrub comes in a tube, and as I said the packaging is fairly attractive in shades of pink and green with a subtle, modern flower design. The packaging will probably appeal to it's target market of teens, and has a more grown up feel than other ranges aimed at the same age group. When squeezing it out of the tube the scrub has a peach coloured appearance and contains lots of round orange 'beads'. Apparently these are bamboo and jojoba beads and as well as these the scrub also contains mango seed butter and orange blossom. I think it is the combination of these ingredients that give it a lovely fruity yet gentle scent. I have quite dry skin and although it's not too bad in summer, I do still need a good exfoliator to get rid of any dry bits of skin. I found when rubbing this one onto my skin, although I could definitely feel the beads, they didn't feel as harsh as some other face scrubs I have used. The scrub rinsed away easily too, which was good as some of them take a lot of effort to rinse away all the beads. I've found that after using this product my skin feels quite warm for a while and it can look a little red. This settles down quite quickly though, and my skin is left feeling incredibly smooth and soft. Any dry bits disappear, and once the redness has calmed down (after around 5 minutes) my skin looks brighter and just generally a little healthier with a bit of a glow to it. I paid £3.99 for a 90g tube from Boots which I think is a fairly reasonable price, as at the moment I'm only really using it once a week - although in the winter I'm sure I'd need to use it twice as often to get rid of dry skin. Overall I am very pleased with this product, it smells nice, it contains no nasty ingredients, and it left my skin looking and feeling great. Definitely a product I would purchase again!
