      Skin Shield Daily Moisturiser SPF15 is a high performance daily hydrating lotion

      I don't know about you, but I hate putting sun cream on my face and neck, I really dont like how it makes my skin feel, so I tend to look for products which have an SPF, usually remembering when the sun is due to make an appearance that I need to make more of an effort to protect my skin or ideally live by the mantra "if the sun out is, the cream is on" my skin.

      Amie is a brand I have come to really like if you haven't heard of them before here is a little background information. Amie is the French Word for friend and the skincare company of a woman named Fiona Parkhouse who used to work for Estee Lauder. She had an idea about making skincare products for her daughter and says the reason she decided to do this was because she wanted something that would "respect her still child-perfect skin but deal with the changes that puberty was starting to bring, such as increased oiliness and breakouts. But I didn't want her using harsh, aggressive chemicals or medicated products. I wanted a natural range that would be gentle yet effective, appealing and affordable". Not only that, but every product within the Amie range are suitable for vegetarians and vegans because there are:

      --->No parabens
      --->No mineral-oils
      --->No petrochemicals
      --->No sodium laureth sulphate or sodium lauryl sulphate
      --->No ingredients of Genetically Modified Origin
      --->No animal testing
      --->No animal ingredients
      --->All products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

      Like most companies, Amie has a vast range of skincare items from masks, facial washes, moisturises, cleansers, exfoliators and many more. This time I have been using the Amie Skin Shield which is a Daily Moisturiser with an SPF15 and it arrives in this summery looking box, shown below with everything you need to know about the product clearly written on the packaging.

      What they say:

      "Skin Shield Daily Moisturiser SPF15 is a high performance daily hydrating lotion that uses mineral sunscreens to give broad-spectrum UVA & UVB protection from the damaging and ageing effects of the sun.

      Super anti-oxidant rich fruits, Kakadu Plum, Blueberry and Vitamins A & E all help shield your skin against enviromental damage and premature skin ageing by combating the harmful effects of free radicals.
      Skin conditioning sunflower and multi-vitamins keep skin soft and nourished".

      Reading that alone makes you want to instantly slap it onto your face because it sounds so good and I have to be honest with you, it is really good not to mention it is also dermalogically tested.

      I have been using this product every morning, after cleansing my face, which is where I have been using it, for almost 4 weeks now and after applying it, my skin feels really soft and smooth and knowing that I have made the effort to protect my skin makes me feel much happier, remember you are never too young to think about these things.

      The cream itself is quite a thick texture, a cross between a sun cream and Sudocrem for consistency so you only need a really small amount to cover your face, but the difference with this cream is that as soon as it touches your skin, it begins to absorb itself, sun cream on the other hand I find refuses to budge until you rub it in. Once it has absorbed itself, there is no sign or trace that you have applied anything at all, there is also a slight aroma to it which is quite pleasant, not overly fruity or floral, just enough to remind you that you have put something on your skin.

      Finally, this product will not break the bank, it retails for just £5.95 which is really good value for money and this will last such a long time because a little goes a long way.

        A great natural skin cream and cheap too

        Amie Skin Shield Daily Moisturiser SPF15

        I write reviews and test products for a site called Beautyontrial and this was one of the products that I was recently given to trial. I was very lucky as I got a full sized 75ml tube so I had lots of opportunity to give it a fair trial.

        The tube has a flip back lid and a small hole from which you squeeze out the cream and it comes in a cardboard box outer package too. I have to admit that prior to this trial I had never heard of the "Amie" company or their products so I was very interested to try this.

        ABOUT AMIE
        This range of products was originally created by ex-Estée Lauder executive, Fiona Parkhouse, for her daughter, Samantha. The idea was a product to help with extra oiliness for sensitive skins. Fiona wanted something that would not strip the skin of its natural oils but would remove excess oiliness that caused acne and breakouts. Stripping the skin of its natural oils can actually cause more breakouts so she worked with a leading dermatologist, Dr Susan Mayou of London Cadogan Clinic and together they created Amie products.
        Originally created for her daughter Fiona found that the same products were actually benefitting for her own combination skin.

        So Amie products were created using natural plant based ingredients and are free from parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, petrochemical sand animal extracts . They have no GM ingredients in case any one feels strongly about GM products and they have been dermalogically tested and they do not test on animals. They are therefore suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

        The other thing that I really like is that Amie I a British company and the products are made in the UK. Even better they are not silly prices either as this tube retails for £5.95 which is extremely good value compared to similar products on the market
        They chose the name 'Amie ' as it means "friend" in French and according to the creator it is "your skin's best friend".

        In 2009 this product was a finalist in the Beauty Insider's Choice. In 2008 it won an award from Pure Beauty.

        Initially I was quite surprised at how thick the cream was and how white so that on application it took a little time to absorb and lose that ghostly look on my skin. I am now more aware and apply sparingly. It doesn't really smell very strong at all but has a very slight hint of fruitiness but nothing you would comment on and it is quite pleasant.

        The cream I have has an SPF of factor 15 which is not a sun screen but does shield your skin from damaging rays on a daily basis. It has protection against both UVA & UVB which many face creams do not
        Mine contains hydrating ingredients and is designed to be anti aging but for combination skin so it doesn't dry out my oily parts but allows the natural oils to remain while boosting the dry areas of my face. It is designed to give soft, hydrated skin with anti-ageing protection as well.

        The active ingredients in this cream are the anti-oxidant rich fruits blueberry, and Kakadu Plum as well as Sunflower Extract and vitamins A & E and all of these are included to help protect the skin against environmental damage and premature skin ageing by fighting the harmful effects of free radicals. This combination of fruit extracts and oils help to condition the skin as well as keep it soft and well nourished.
        The cream helps prevent aging damage from the sun and the ingredients that help with this are mineral sunscreens which give a broad-spectrum UVA & UVB protection from the damaging and ageing effects of the sun's rays.

        I have to admit that in the UK I don't have too much fear of skin damage especially in the weather we had early this year but even in cloudy conditions the sun's rays can get through and damage the skin so it does not hurt to use a moisturizer of foundation with a basic SPF as anything that I can do to stop the aging process is good as far as I am concerned and worth a try at least. It is hard to tell whether it does help as I have not done a control experiment with half my face treated and the other not, but I hope that what I am doing is helping.

        This cream feels nice once absorbed and my face skin does feel nice and soft and well nourished after using it. I have not had any trouble with excess oil on my nose and chin area and all in all I have been impressed.

        I like the company ethics, the fact that they use plant ingredients and no animal stuff and don't test on animals and I also like the fact that this is a British company and finally I love the fact that they sell the products at a reasonable price. On top of all that the cream smells pleasant and feels great and has not caused me any nasty reaction but has made my face skin feel nice and full and soft so all in all I am more than happy to recommend this and have done to my family and friends.

        Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same username.
