Advantages: Great value - Easy to use - Kind to skin - Work well..

Disadvantages: None for me!

I purchased two packs of assorted face wipes from Asda's own "Skin System" range of skincare items and cosmetics recently, one of which was the "Skin System Sensitive Cleansing Facial Wipes."

I was impressed to note that the generous package contains 30 individual cleansing wipes and this cost me only £1, which I thought offered reasonable value for money. I was particularly interested in trying out these wipes as they are described as being "Sensitive" and I do suffer with extremely sensitive skin, which often goes hand in hand with spot outbreaks and 'flare ups' of eczema. I have found that some cheaper branded facial wipes can be quite harsh on my sensitive skin, so I do tend to stick to the brands I trust, one of which is Asda's Skin System brand.

The packaging for the Skin System Wipes is fairly average for a product like this one, with the pale jade green package being made of fairly robust plastic and presented in a square-ish shape. The wipes are contained within this pack of course, which can be easily opened on the top, by way of a heavy-duty plastic label that covers the opening. I have never found this label loses its stickiness or becomes dried out, which is a significant flaw I have encountered with similar products I have used in the past. The label remained sticky and thus, the package remained shut when necessary, throughout my use of the wipes until they were finished.

The wipes themselves are basically small white-coloured 'cloths' that have a slightly square shape. The wipes are damp of course, but not so wet as to be uncomfortable to use. The cloths have a soft 'woven' design/texture to them but this is very subtle, so they do not feel at all harsh or abrasive when used on the face. This may sound like an obvious point but I have been surprised at the harshness of some brands of facial wipes I have bought in the past, particularly those budget-branded ones, some of which have felt rather like they are 'scraping' the skin during use! I cannot report anything negative about the Asda Skin System Sensitive Wipes, in this regard.

The wipes claim they will "Cleanse, tone, moisturise and remove eye make-up" and I have certainly found them to be very effective at removing the dark eye make-up such as black mascara and eyeliner that I regularly wear. I find that they do this without the need to 'scrub' around the area which would be rather uncomfortable due to this area being so sensitive. Instead, the mascara and eye shadow is 'lifted' from the skin with ease, with even a 'dabbing' motion being sufficient to remove this make-up easily.

Likewise, foundation and facial make-up can be removed easily from the face and neck, and I do find the slight 'texture' that the wipes carry goes a long way here, as it seems to help the wipes' effectiveness in terms of 'absorbing' the make-up from the face and neck. This is rather hard to explain, but the slight 'bumps' on the cloths' surface seem to make these wipes rather more effective than plain 'flat' wipes that are thin and slightly flimsy.

In terms of the product's claims about cleansing, toning and moisturising, well I'm afraid I'm perhaps not the best person to comment on these aspects of the product as personally I'd never expect a basic, cheaply-priced facial wipe to take the place of three separate products designed to care for my skin. I do prefer to use a separate cleanser lotion (two, actually!) to thoroughly wash my face and neck each morning and night and don't feel that ANY brand of moist facial wipe can take the place of this routine.

In addition, I have such dry, sensitive skin that I need to use at least one nourishing facial cream product on my skin each day, so again, I wouldn't expect to obtain similar results in terms of moisturisation properties from a moist facial wipe, irrespective of which brand they belonged to.

Taking my own experiences into account however, I can confirm that the Asda Skin System Sensitive Wipes have certainly done nothing to add to the issues I have with suffering from dry, sensitive skin. I have found that after use, my skin feels 'normal' and there is no unpleasant 'tight' feeling present which is usually an indicator that a product has been overly harsh or overly drying.... Or both! This has never occurred with the use of these wipes, so I do feel they are rather 'kinder' to skin that other brands I have used before.

In addition, I have suffered nothing in the way of irritation to my sensitive skin, which IS what I had hoped for, and expected really, given the claims on the packaging. There has been no irritation noticeable after use, nor has there been any sort of unpleasant 'flare' to the troublesome eczema which is easily aggravated. I do think that the Asda wipes tick many boxes in terms of their suitability for sensitive skin, as they are unscented and uncoloured, in addition to containing no soap or alcohol within their formulation.

Asda products are not tested on animals, and the wipes are suitable for vegetarians.

In summary, I find these wipes perfectly suitable for removing my eye make-up and generally giving my face a bit of a quick 'cleanse' at the end of the day, when I am removing my make-up and preparing to cleanse and moisturise my face with other products. I do find they work well for this purpose, but would chose not to use them in place of my separate moisturiser and cleanser as my skin is so problematic. I suffered from no unpleasant side-effects or irritation during use, and would definitely repurchase them again in the future as they seemed to carry a rather mild and gentle formulation. Taking everything into account, I would recommend the product and I feel the wipes are deserving of full marks in the product rating score, as a result.

Summary: I would buy them again!
