“ Brand: Avon / Type: Face Treatment / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / Type: Anti-Blemish / What it does: blemish control / Product line: Avon Clearskin „
I used this years ago when buying avon skincare range that was on offer most of the time in the magazine. I just started getting horrible teenage skin with lots of blemishes, the 'immediate response' name really drew me. I can't remember how much it cost but I doubt it was much because it was Avon.
It comes in a small white plastic tube with a small, blue screw lid. The colour scheme of blue, green and white made it look very medical like and assured me it would be good for my skin The actual stuff inside was a translucent blue gel that had a strong antibacterial like smell but wasn't overpowering or unpleasant.
It's easy to apply by just squeezing a small amount onto the blemished areas of your skin so there is a little blue blob. You can either leave it as a blob or rub it in, either way it is still very noticeable as it's shiny on the skin so can only be worn if you're not going out anywhere. It does dry and is easily peeled off though.
I wouldn't recommend this blemish treatment (I'm not sure it's in Avon anymore but you can probably get it off of ebay) as it doesn't really help blemishes in anyway, it feels slightly cool and tingly when first put on but I don't think it treats at all, it can reduce redness but is definitely not 'immediate' as Avon say.
I am very sad to say that Avon have discontinued this blemish treatment from there books as of next month, so this month it is in the last chance to buy section so I will be stocking up on it on my order this week and at half price it is a great value for money product just £1.75
This blemish treatment comes in a small 15ml tube that is white with a blue screw off lid, it has all the info you need on the tube and is great for taking with you as it fits so easily into any handbag no matter how small.
It is an antiseptic gel, which works on the problem blemish by killing the infection that caused the flair up in the first place, and reducing the redness to make it a lot less visible, it is no miracle cure but it does work at making blemishes less noticeable.
It is really easy to apply as all you need to do is put a tiny dot of the gel on your finger and apply to the blemish, It dries without leaving any traces behind so you wouldn't even know it was there and there is no discomfort from using it only a little bit of tingling when you first apply the gel, once it is dry you can even apply makeup over the top.
Depending on how many problem blemishes you have will depend on how quickly you get through a tube of gel but on average a tube should last a good month so is great value for money and you can see it working withing around 30 minutes as the redness subsides.
Some one recommended the avon clearskin immediate response blemish treatment to me as I do get quite alot of spots so I thought I'd give it a try.
When I ordered this product It was on the buy one get one free offer so I also got the immediate response blemish cleanser so it cost me £4 altogether which I thought was a good price to pay if they worked.
When the blemish treatment arrived it was in a small white cardboard box. I was quite disappointed when I saw how small the tube was considering the usual price is £3.50 I thought it would be bigger than 15ml but it does state the size in the book so that is my own silly fault. The tube itself is quite simple packaging, plain white with the description on the front and a blue lid. It has a small nozzle which makes it easy to control how much product comes out.
I applied a small amount to my finger then covered my spot with it. It was like a gel and visible to see as once it dries it does start peeling away if knocked so I wouldnt use it before leaving the house. I left the product on over night and when I woke up the next day most of the product had come off and the small amount left on did come off easily.
My spot had been reduced and looked alot less red so I was quite pleased with the product. I used it another time when I had a few small spots and nothing changed, I thought that it would make them go away as they were only small but there was no difference.
I now use this product if I have one big spot to help reduce the look of it but it doesnt make it go away like the brochure says and I wouldnt recommend to use it if you get alot of small spots.
Any regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now that I work as an Avon Representative when my health allows. I have done this for the past few years and before that time I regularly bought Avon products from a work colleague of mine, so I like to think I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to the Avon brand, and have a fair amount of experience with many of their products.
There are several brands within Avon that I use regularly, some are of course better than others but one brand in particular that I find to be very beneficial whilst generally offering great value, is the 'Avon Clearskin' brand.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this brand, it contains an assortment of products aimed at clearing up break-outs of spots, and combating 'oily teenage skin'. As an Avon rep, I can confirm that it is one of the Avon brands that seems to be a firm favourite with lots of my regular customers.
One product in particular that two of my regular customers buy very often is the "Immediate Response Blemish Treatment". I would say that this product is one of the products from the Clearskin range that I sell most of.
As I suffer from the odd zit here and there myself, I was curious to see if the product actually worked, and have had my eye on it for a while when I have been flicking through my Avon brochures, but never before got around to ordering it for myself.
When one recent brochure had the blemish treatment on offer, I decided that now was my chance, and took the opportunity to try it once and for all!
The blemish treatment is a small tube that contains 15ml. The usual cost of the treatment is £3.50, which I thought was a little excessive for such a small tube. That said though, the recent offer from Avon Clearskin was "Any two products for £3", and as I regularly use several other products from this range, I decided that I would buy one such regular product, and order the "Blemish Treatment" at the same time, thus effectively getting to try it for free! (Ahh... good old Avon!!)
The Blemish Treatment is supplied in a small cardboard box, as many Avon products are. Upon opening the box, the small tube of treatment is easily removed, and I noticed straight away that the packaging was on a par with that of other products from the Avon Clearskin range - the packaging has, I think, a very clean and crisp appearance. The tube in this case is plain white with large blue writing/print and the name of the product appearing in a green-coloured box.
The lid on the tube, which is quite long, as the tube has a long nozzle in order to dispense the blemish treatment, is blue plastic, which contrasts quite nicely against the plain white tube. I will point out at this time that the nozzle is very small so that you can quite easily control how much of the product you want to squeeze from the tube. I feel that this will cut down on unwanted waste, which is probably just as well, given the tiny tube!
Upon squeezing some of the blemish treatment onto my finger (for nosy purposes only), I was fairly surprised to discover that the treatment was a GEL, not a cream as I had originally suspected. Oops... I didn't pay too much attention before I ordered it I guess!
The gel had a fairly strong fragrance, although this is the case with any other spot or acne treatment I have used in the past - and that's a fair few, folks! The smell is not altogether unpleasant, but is quite 'clinical' and is really quite strong. I did find it to be a bit over-powering if I am honest, but again this is the case with spot and acne products in general, for me at least!
Wondering if this product would make any difference to the two spots on my forehead which were rather annoying, I decided to apply the blemish treatment later that same evening and find out!
When the time came, I cleansed my face as normal, and then applied my usual bits and pieces, eye cream and that sort of thing. I then reached for the Clearskin blemish treatment and unscrewed the cap, squeezing a generous dollop of the gel onto my index finger to make it a bit easier to apply directly onto the spot in question.
This was all very easy to do, and I found that the texture of the gel was extremely smooth, which made it easy to glide onto the area of skin in question.
The initial reaction upon applying it was that it was freezing cold! I could also smell the scent/fragrance as mentioned before, but again, I didn't find this to be particularly unpleasant. I wasn't aware of any stinging or painful sensation.
I left the gel on the spot and didn't wash it off. Upon waking the next morning, there was a bit of residue left on my skin, but the rest of it appeared to have been absorbed.
The spot unfortunately had NOT reduced in size or disappeared altogether, as I had hoped. I therefore feel that this product did not really live up to its claims.
On the plus side though, I think it would be quite good to use if I had one of those humungous spots that I get from time to time, which are very inflamed and painful. The cooling feeling of the gel would, I think be a bit of welcome relief for those bad boys!
For this purpose, I will keep the gel and use it again. For everyday spots and acne though, I wouldn't rate it too highly - I found the results to be a bit of a let down!
And as for the claims about being an "Immediate Response" treatment, I would not agree at all - I left it on all night after all!
I will award it two stars, but that's all I'm afraid! :-\
With the amount of products I buy in an attempt to improve my spot-prone skin, you would think that I would have come across something that worked by now. But unfortunately this is not the case. Avon Clearskin Immediate Response Blemish Treatment is another in a long line of spot gels and creams that have been almost completely useless and that I have wasted my hard earned money on.
This product normally costs £3.50 and is available from the Avon online shop, or from the Avon catalogue if you have a local Avon lady. It is often on special offer and is currently half price. I myself bought it alongside some Clearskin Deep Cleansing Cloths as part of a 'Buy one, get one for 50p' deal. This meant that I ended up paying £2 for it, and I am certainly glad I didn't pay any more!
Avon describes the product as a 'fast acting gel formula'. It comes packaged in a white cardboard box with usage instructions which say 'Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer 1 to 3 times daily'. The box also warns people to keep the product away from their eyes and out of the reach of children.
The gel itself comes in a white plastic tube with the Avon Clearskin logo on it and a clear blue screw-on lid. The tube contains 15 ml of gel and the gel is easily squeezed out of the end of the tube. The opening is very narrow so you do not get too much gel at a time which is a good thing.
When you put the gel on your face, it feels cool and wet. It quickly dries, but then feels a bit tight. After a while, it starts to become a little crumbly at the edges and the edges tend to change from clear to white. For this reason I would not wear it during the day or under make-up, and I put it on at night instead when noone can see me!
I have used this product quite a lot but I don't feel that it has made any difference to my spots at all. They do not go away any quicker than normal when I apply this gel to them and so I cannot recommend it as a useful product. It is not something I will buy again and I am disappointed, especially seeing as my other experience with the Clearskin range, when I used the cleansing cloths, was much more positive.
