“ Brand: Avon / Scrub / Type: Cleansing Scrub / Subcategory: Scrub / What it does: Cleanses, Exfoliates / Product line: Avon Clearskin „
I have been purchasing items from Avon since being a teenager when my aunt used to bring the little catalogue to my mum and I used to make my own selections which were usually of make up or skincare. They sell several different skincare ranges but one of my favourites is the Clear Skin range. This range is aimed at people like me who suffer from oily, blemish and spot prone skin. One of the products in the range is the pore penetrating invigorating scrub which aims to 'lift away pore-clogging dirt and excess oil' of which I have purchased several times.
The clear skin invigorating scrub can be purchased from an Avon representative or from the Avon website (www.avonshop.co.uk). The scrub comes in a 75ml tube and is priced at £4.00, although it is worth looking out for it being on special offer as Avon tend to run frequent discounts or multi-buy promotions.
The scrub comes packaged in a white plastic tube which has a clear plastic flip top cap. The tube stands on its cap ensuring that the scrub is always ready to easily squeeze from the tube. I always find that Avon packaging only details basic product information as it lists it in various different languages. Although on the back of this tube it does at least list the ingredients, directs for use and cautions to follow when using the scrub.
To use the face scrub it simply states on the tube to massage onto wet face and rinse. I normally use this scrub 2-3 times per week when I have a shower in the mornings.
The scrub itself is a very pale green colour and has a slightly menthol scent which I find quite pleasant and refreshing. You only need to use a small amount about an inch long which means this scrub does last a long time so actually makes it really good value for money, I've had my latest tube for almost two months and there is still a few uses left. When you massage the scrub into your face you can feel the tiny little beads gently scrubbing your skin which does not feel at all harsh as they are very tiny. The scrub is quite easy to rinse of by splashing my face with warm water leaving my skin feeling very fresh, smooth and cleansed. Since using this scrub my skin does seem to have been less oily and less prone to blemishes and blackheads. My pores also appear less visible. I don't use this scrub everyday as think this may be a little too harsh so will use a cream cleanser on alternative days but I do look forward to using this scrub as I love how clean and smooth my skin fees after use.
Overall I have been very impressed with this facial scrub from Avon, not only is it great value it leaves my skin feeling great and looking much healthier. This is certainly a product I would recommend and continue to purchase.
I like to take care of my skin especially my face and as well as mositurising it is also importantto cleane and scrub your skin to keep the pores open and dirt free and this Avon Clearskin Invigorating Cleansing Scrub is a reasonably priced product that is very effective as well. Using a scrub stops your skin becomming greasy and thus you are less likely to get spots and other blemishes.
The packaging is nice and simple, a white tube with blue and black writing and a pale blue lid, the scrub itself is also blue in colour with small beads in it to provide an abrasive quality.
It has quite a thick consistency so you do not need to use a great deal of it each time you scrub your face. You can feel it working as you rub it into your face and certainly after use my skin feels smooth and refreshed. It does have a slightly clinical smell to it which is not at all nice but it does not linger at all on your skin after use.
I would only really recommend using this product once or maybe twice a week at most but it is ideal for all skin types unless our skin is very sensitive then I would test it first before using it fully.
Every now and again, I like to give my face a good scrub and cleanse and having found Avon's Clearskin range very good for my skin, in that it prevents it getting too greasy without drying it out too much, I decided to give this a go.
The scrub comes in a white tube and the scrub itself is blue with lots of tiny little beads in the cream, which itself is very thick. I find that I only have to use a very small amount - no more than a 2cm long line to wash my entire face. When it's a 100ml tube of the stuff, I'd say it's very good value for money!
When applying it too my face, it immediately starts giving me the feeling of a deep clean, it has a very thick texture to it, even as you start massaging it onto your face, the beads help remove any dead flakes of skin I may have and the cream leaves my skin feeling very clean and refreshed overall. The smell of the cream is quite strong - I've seen it described as a methanol smell which is the closest term I could think of, but the smell doesn't hang around on the skin for very long.
Of course, the deep clean this scrub gives would probably be too harsh for daily use; even the tube says to use only a couple of times a week, which is what I tend to do. I think if I used it daily it would probably cause my skin to dry out.
Overall, I'd say this product is excellent value for money and well worth a try if you wish to give something else a go for your skin.
This is an exfoliating scrub which is aimed at those with oily skin and breakouts.
The tube is a no-nonsense white blue and lilac design, giving an impression of freshness and clinical cleanliness.
It comes with a screw-off tube which isn't the most convenient when you have wet hands. A flip top would have been better.
This has a strong minty menthol scent. The menthol is also very cooling on application.
The product is a very thick bright blue cream/gel. It makes no pretence of being a natural product, rather, it gives the impression of a strong, no-nonsense product which is going to seriously zap your zits. Which is exactly what it does. You only need to use a small amount. The menthol in the cream makes your skin tingle and clears the airways so it is good on a hot day or for waking you up in the morning. However on me it really stings, but then I have very sensitive skin these days.
My Mum loves this product and always has a tube about the bathroom so I have used it myself on and off for years. I bought a tube for myself recently and suddenly, I had a very strong reaction to it. I should have realised that my skin is much more delicate now than it was when I was a spotty teenager so I shouldn't have used it. I ended up with raw, bumpy, red, flaky skin for days afterwards.
The standard price is £3.99 but there are always offers on, 3 for £4, two for one, and so on. Right now you can get it on Avon's website for £1.50, a saving of £2.49.
Value for money
I'd say whether at £3.99 or £1.50 this product is great value for money and will last you a long time - unless you have to give it away after one use like me, in which case it's absolutely rubbish value!
Would I buy again?
Personally, no, but if you have oily skin which isn't too sensitive, do give it a go.
I have used Avon Clearskin products on and off for a few years as I used to and still do suffer from dodgy skin with spots and greasy patches from time to time. I like to use a facial scrub several times a week to give my skin a boost and smooth the surface so make-up goes on easier.
This cleansing scrub from Avon is fairly good value, the standard price is around £3.50 though you can often pick it up as part of a 3-2 deal or 3 for £5, ideal if there's other items you need at the same time. The scrub smells rather clinical, not unlike clearasil, but isnt unpleasant or off putting.
Only a small amount is required for each use, it mixes well with water and gives the skin a good thorough scrub without being too harsh or abrasive. I do find however that my skin once dry can feel a little tight and flaky after using this, perhaps I'm too old to use something like this now, well I am 30 now! I think this product may be better suited to younger skin, teenagers or early 20s with skin thats still acting as if it needs an ASBO
The Clearskin Invigorating Cleansing Scrub is usually £3.50 for a 75ml tube which I really think is a little bit too expensive for this particular product. I especially don't like how Avon have saved themselves a few pence per product by putting a screw cap bottom on this product as it is fiddly to open and close while you're trying to have a wash. A flip cap is much more convenient on bathroom products.
This has quite a good texture to it and a perfectly acceptable scent too, but I find this lacks effectiveness compared to other similar products. I don't find it particularly good at exfoliating which is really what I would expect a cleansing scrub to do.
When this is on offer for half price or 3 for £5 then I think this is reasonable value for a daily use cleanser. I wouldn't recommend it as an actual exfoliant though and I personally prefer to pay out a little bit more for something that effectively exfoliates my skin as a scrub should really do.
I tend to buy the budget range from Avon when I am looking for face cleansing products. I do this because if I'm not sure if it will suit my skin, I haven't wasted too much money and also there are usually offers on meaning I can get more for less.
Avon's clear skin invigorating face scrub is designed to be used once or twice a week as part of your daily skin care routine. I tend to only use this once a week because I find it's quite a harsh product for me.
The face scrub comes in a white plastic tube with lid on the bottom. This is a good idea as all the product will settle towards the lid, making it easier to retrieve when the tube gets empty. The lid is a screw on variety and I find this easy to open and close again afterwards without ending up in a face scrub mess.
This product needs to be applied to damp skin, and I usually do this after removing any eye makeup I have on. The packaging does claim this will remove make up, and I trust it to remove foundation, but I'm not comfortable rubbing this product too near my eyes as it's quite potent in aroma, so I prefer to keep it away from the eye area.
Upon opening the tube, a bright blue grainy substance comes out onto the palm of my hand as I squeeze the tube. I don't find you need too much of this in one application, perhaps a dollop around the size of a 50p piece.
I choose to apply this product my rubbing it together in my hands and then rubbing all over my face. As I mentioned the product is very grainy, matching of course to being a scrub rather than a cleanser. I find it can be harsh on my skin, but there don't appear to be any after effects of redness etc so I know it's suitable for my skin and not doing it any harm.
You look like the blue cookie monster when you've finished with this product. It needs to be rinsed off with warm water, and I find it easier to use a flannel soaked in warm water. This is my personal preference and you may find it better to just rinse off with your hands. The scrub doesn't need to stay on your face for any length of time, just massage in with your fingers and wash straight off again.
I find my skin is fairly smooth and soft after using this, but I also feel like it's raw on sensitive parts such as my jaw line and under eye area. I know it's not as I mentioned I don't get any redness to the areas, it just feels not quite right. The rest of my face feels lovely however.
The packaging claims that this scrub contains eucalyptus oil and antibacterial agents to remove make up and germs. The eucalyptus is why this product has a high aroma of potency when it's on your face. If you don't like string scents to your facial products then this may not be for you.
A 75ml tube will cost you £3.50 which will last quite a while with a once a week application. I bought this because the whole clear skin range was on offer. I'm not sure I would have chosen it on its own though, but it's a great added extra to give your skin an extra clearout once a week.
MMM.... a skin product, this one has to be my favourite, It Is an Avon product, I just love it.
It Is a facial scrub like none other I have tried. It is blue, a lovely shade of blue too. It has eucalyptus In It this Is what gives It the polo mint thing..
I discovered this a few years ago, my mam is my Avon rep, she gave me a tube of this to try. I liked It, If there was one thing I would say could be negative it would be that I find it just a bit harsh, while my skin isn't sensitive, I could imagine it irritating sensitive skin types.
Avon always has offers on with this range of products such as buy on get one free or three items for a fiver. This is the type of offer I look for and I put them away for birthdays Christmas etc. my family like using this product too.
I made my own recipe up once, It was using a dollop of this exfoliater and some cucumber whisked up and used as a type of scrubbing face mask.
The texture Is quite rough and dryish, it smells very minty and eucalyptus too. You massage it over wet face then rinse it off and pat dry. Avon say to only use It twice a week. And there is a caution withit that says avoid the eyes, well it makes your eyes water slightly when you use it never mind getting it in the eyes.
It may sound as though I am a bit negative with this product, I'm not however I can still see what other people may see wrong with the facial scrub even though I love It.
It cost me £3.25 for the one Item however in the next few orders being near to Christmas you will be able to pick it up for 3 for a fiver etc. It is in a 100ml tube which is quite chunky, I find that it lasts ages anyway as you only need a small amount, what I do is put a little on my hand and rub that in both hands before massaging over face.
There is a good sized list of ingredients, including some chemicals, however I haven't found anything in the product to irritate me.
Avon on the whole is very inexpensive and yet has a quality to its products.
Some other items in the Avon Clearskin range are..
Purifying gel cleanser,
Dual action ant-bacterial cleanser,
Deep cleansing cloths,
Cleansing pads for sensitive skin,
t-zone peel off clay mask,
Blemish solver mask,
Purifying astringent for sensitive skin,
Oil-free balancing lotion,
Invisible blemish corrector,
Concealing blemish stick,
Targeted blemish remover.
All of these items are from£3 - £4 in the brochure that the order has just gone off for the offer is any 2 items for £3 now this is a mega bargain and I'm stocking up..
What Avon say about the product..
Micro particles are refreshing and eucalyptus then sweep away pore clogging dirt, oil, problem causing bacteria, and exfoliation-needed surface skin,so it looks radiant as it feels tingly fresh.
When I go out on the town, I use this In the shower mm It makes me feel so tingly fresh I would hate Avon to stop selling this, I don't think they will as Its got to be one of the best sellers. So go on, let your face feel like its sucking a polo mint..
Bit about eucalyptus..
scientific support and/or minimal health benefit.
Historical or traditional use (may or may not be supported by scientific studies)
Eucalyptus was first used by Australian aborigines, who not only chewed the roots for water in the dry outback but used the leaves as a remedy for fevers. In the 1800s, crew members of an Australian freighter developed high fevers, but were able to successfully cure their condition using eucalyptus tea.
Thus, eucalyptus became well known throughout Europe and the Mediterranean as the Australian fever tree.
Eucalyptus oil is used to sterilize instruments and wounds, but recommended a steam inhalation of the vapor of its oil to help treat asthma, bronchitis, whooping cough, and emphysema.
None of this review has been cut copied or pasted It Is all based on my experience of using clearskin invigorating cleansing scrub. The eucalyptus bit Is what I resaerched on the internet. It Is also posted on the Ciao site under the same name..
Thank you once again,.. Caz. xx
A while back I read an article somewhere that said Avon's clearskin scrub was one of the best budget face scrubs around, so as my sister is an Avon lady, I ordered a tube from her. The clearskin range is aimed at problem skin, and this is probably directed a bit more towards the teenage market, than for a 23 year old like me, but I still get spots, and as my skin can be very dry (especially in winter), I like to keep it exfoliated.
This comes in a fairly plain looking white tube, with a blue screw-top lid and blue and purple writing. Instructions for use are on the back.
To use the scrub you simply massage it into wet skin. On squeezing this out of the tube for the first time, I was surprised to find that it is bright blue! It has a very thick consistency and almost looks like a paste.
When I applied it to my skin, and I could feel that it had lots of grains in it, which I always think is a good thing, as I like a scrub to feel like it's scrubbing, if you know what I mean!!
Now one thing I must mention, is that every time I have used this so far, I have found that it make my eyes water. It has quite a sharp scent to it, and on looking at the ingredients list, I found it contains Menthol, which I assume is what causes my eyes to water.
As the scrub is quite thick I find it takes a lot of rinsing to remove it all - something that is quite important, as I don't want to be going around with bits of blue left on my face!
Straight after use, I find this leaves my skin feeling quite warm - but not uncomfortably so. I also tend to look a bit red straight after I've used it, but I get that with most scrubs, I don't think it's specific to this one, and it settles down fairly quickly.
The best thing about this product for me, is the feel of my skin after I've used it. My skin feels incredibly soft and smooth, and it also eradicates any patches of dry skin that I have. I have to admit though I haven't noticed that my skin looks any clearer than before.
This costs £3.50 for a 100ml tube, but Avon often do special offers, so you might be able to get it cheaper. Visit www.avonshop.co.uk or speak to your local representative.
