Advantages: Afforable, transportable. Balances out complexion.
Disadvantages: Does not combat oily skin, only moisturises a little, spillages.
I bought 'Avon Clearskin - Mattifying Moisturiser' from an Avon catalogue a few months ago. I have to admit, after a few failed products from other Avon ranges, i was skeptical to whether it would work or not.
The price
When i bought it, it was on sale at around £1.75. The price varies from time to time and is included in a lot of the Avon sales. It's normal price is £4.00. It's best to check out online and in the catalogue regularly to snatch the best deal when it comes!
The Packaging
It comes in a dainty, minature 50ml bottle which has a little blue pump at the top that you push down on and the cream comes squirting out. It's quite a sensitive pump, and requires minimal effort, so be gentle when squeezing so you don't get too much product projecting out! The moisturiser itself is held in a little white bottle, which in a way is useless, as it's much more handier to see how much product is left so you know when to stock up on some more. The white bottle has 'Avon clearskin mattifying moisturiser' printed on the front, and a little circle logo at the bottom. It has a warning on the back to 'Avoid contact with eyes', which is written in English then many different other languages, which is rather considerate and practical of Avon, as not all of their consumers will be able to understand English. I find this is where many other products fail in meeting their consumers needs. The bottle is recyclable also. It's made of plastic and is very sturdy, there would be no chance of the bottle breaking. It's minature, so it's easy to slip into your bag and transport around but the lock on the pump really needs a good twist to lock it and if you don't lock it correctly or the lock becomes unlocked by itself, it can spill the contents out into your bag (personal experience).
The Product
The moisturiser itself is a light, mint green shade. The green combats any red of your skin tone to produce a balanced complexion! It's of a very thin consistency and feels very wet and oily, although it gives very good coverage. The only way i can explain the smell is 'fresh and clean'. It has like a clinical, medicated aroma to it, but it's in no way over powering or sickly. It's surprisingly quite soothing. It claims to moisturise your skin while combating oily areas!
The Application
To apply you simply squeeze the pump and use the amount it gave you to massage into your face. Remember to keep it as even as possible for maximum results, and use only the amount the pump gave you as to not over-use the product, unless you feel your skin really requires it. It should dry in within a few minutes and then your ready to go! You can use it before applying foundation to give you a flawless, even complexion.
The Results
I found that the cream drastically reduced the red areas of my skin. Not only did my skin look more even and healthier, it was more radiant! As for moisturising my skin, it did slightly, but it made no difference to the oily areas of my skin.
Downfalls
It didn't make any difference to the oily areas of my skin and although it did moisturise i wasn't overly amazed at the results. The pump can sometimes create spillages.
Overall
I found that this product is good for combating an uneven complexion and giving you a more flawless, even looking skin tone. I use this during the day before i apply my make-up to help out my uneven complexion and to try to combat my make-up drying out my skin. As a daily/nightly moistuiser, this would not be my first choice, as it only moisturises to a small extent and the results do not last as long as i hoped, so i use this along with my normal moisturising cream to try to keep my skin healthy. For daily use with around 1-2 pumps, it should last a month or two at least. All in all, it failed to do what it said it would, but provided me with a product that helped me combat my uneven skintone, so for that reason, i will continue to purchase it. I guess it's dependant on what type of skin you have if this product will work on you or not.
If your looking for a product that can combat oily skin, then i'm doubtful this is the product for you.
If your looking for a product that can moisturise your skin, then this perhaps could be the product for you.
If your looking for a product that can balance out your skintone, then this is definetely the product for you and i would without doubt recommend it!
Summary: If your looking for a product that can balance out skintone, then i definetely recommend this!
