Advantages: Nice smell, work ok
Disadvantages: Makes my skin feel uncomfortably tight
When it comes to cleansing and toning I'm really particular about it and right fussy. From a young age I've always appreciated impecably clean facial skin and have over the years tried loads and loads of products of course! Even drunk I remove my make up and fresh out the shower I always wipe my skin over too. This has served me well and I do like having a good skin care regime as I get constantly told I don't look like I'm turning 35 soon! lol (I actually don't think I do either, so I'm doing something right!) lol.
I saw this in the Avon catalogue and with nothing else to order in mind I didn't want to not order anything as I really like my Avon Rep (who comes in wind and rain and snow!) and felt that for a fiver it was worth trying it out and keeping her commission ticking over!
Well you get two products for the price of one with this one. When it arrives you think you have one product as it is wrapped as one product in a light blue and white plastic outer wrapper (not as depicted on the review photograph!). When you investigate the product and take the outer wrapper off it is two half moon white plastic bottles that fit together if you wish to display them that way.
The outer wrapper tells me that they are solutions A.M and Solutions P.M Maximum Moisture that is a refreshing day cleanser and a makeup removing night cleanser. At the bottom of the wrapper I'm told both bottles are 100ml and that the product is that of Avon. On the back of the wrapper I'm given a list of ingredients for both, the recycle symbol is displayed and contact details for Avon are given. Then I'm given instructions to use the A.m Cleanser - Energising gel removes buildup and deep cleanses. Leaves skin clean, fresh and hydrated. To Use A.M massage onto moistened skin. Rinse thoroughly with water, then I'm given instructions for the Night Time cleanser- Rich cleansing cream dissolves all traces of makeup and daily buildup, as it moisturises and softens skin. To Use P.M massage onto skin. Rinse thoroughly with water, or tissue off. A.M and P.M cleansers are suitable for sensitive skin. Dermatologist tested. Hypoallergenic. No -comedogenic. Then cautions are given and all that information I have just given you in listed in many languages.
The packaging is ok and I like the way both bottles can be neatly clicked together and are strong and robust and stand up well. However I don't like the 'naked' bottles and would appreciate them at least saying on them which cleanser they are. Sure there is a left and a right bottle (they only fit together one way) but I'm completely forgetful so I get mixed up to which one it is I like to wash my face with and which I like to wipe off and follow with toner! Yes one is a gel and one is a lotion but still this just muddles me up and I think is it the gel one that's the nighttime etc! No instructions on the bottles is a bind in my view but typically Avon and you can't keep the plastic wrapper for future reference because it's so thin it gets ripped during removal. However, having said that plain white bottles are nice enough and the flip top lids are handy and now I've simply separated the pair and the day time one is in my bathroom and the night time one is on my bedside cabinet so why they need to click together only baffles me further lol.
The A.M Cleanser....
As I said is a gel and it's clear and runny in it's consistency. Smell wise it's light and to me a little fruity but has nothing distinctive about it. Men or women could use this cos once you've washed your face with it the smell fades to nothing pretty quickly anyway but whilst it's in use it is nice, simple and fresh in fragrance.
Using it is simple of course. You need the smallest amount, less than a size of a penny piece. Wet you face and massage this in gently for a few seconds. Now for me it doesn't remove my make up but to be fair I only use this as a face wash first thing in the morning anyway so I don't expect it to or need it too anyway and all I need it to do at most is to remove traces of night face cream I've slept in the night before.
It doesn't lather up and I get no bubbles no matter how much of the product I use. It clogs on my face slightly white and splodgy looking but after a minute or so I rinse it off which is simple and straightforward to do regardless.
I then gently pat my face dry as directed. No tingling (even with spots) when using it or after using the product. Face is left very delicately fragranced and has a nice fresh, clean glow to it without a doubt. However maximum moisture? Not for me no. It's great at not upsetting my sensitive skin and none agitating my greasy t-zone but after using this my skin feels tight on the inside like I'm wearing a mask and I have to run to my bottle of toner and wipe my face over to make sure that I have no soapy residue left on my skin. It's sort of like an uncomfortable face lift in a bottle and I feel slightly clammy and a bit sticky like I haven't rinsed it off properly and have soap residue left in my pores, when there's no way that I can have as I know how to thoroughly wash my face at my age!
Simple enough to use but I don't like the way skin is left feeling though skin does looks clean my face feels like if I smile I may crack it and my conclusion is that it's far too soapy and heavy for me. Even by using less of the product and rinsing my face with cold water afterwards this feeling is only lost by toner. So a wash and go product this is not. The only thing it has going for it in my eyes is that it's really is ok for sensitive skin!
With this one of course you massage it into your skin and rinse off if desired or use some on some cotton wool or whatever and wipe off. Me of course I use this and follow with toner which I can't live without! It's meant to remove make up and be more heavy duty that the day cleanser of course.
Where this differs is that this a very pale blue lotion. It has exactly the same pleasant smell as the A.M Cleanser but in appearance it's totally different. It's quite runny although not runny as in cheap rubbish (it does have some body to it). I can't specify an amount you need to use here as we are all different. I add a blob to cotton wool, wipe away at my face gently and if I need more, add more to fresh cotton wool until I'm satisfied that my face is clean and that amount depends on whether I am wearing make up not.
On a relatively clean face I use about the size of a ten pence coin I guess. It wipes over easily, picks up grease and grime visibly onto the cotton wool in the form of a greyish film (in my case). It's unmessy to use although as I have said I do need to use toner afterwards not because I don't think it does it's job, but like the A.M Cleanser it tends to leave my skin feeling dry and tight on the inside but again not to the appearance of it. Skin looks clean, it's a fuss free procedure really and leaves my skin glowing and looking healthy.
On a made up face of course it's trickier to use and if I wear make up I do wear a lot of hard and harsh products and this does struggle with eyeliners and mascara's and anything with staying power. Light make up it's fine with it would just prefer to be used after an eye make up remover! However you can remove steadfast make up with this and this alone if you persevere with it, it just takes a lot of product and a lot of scrubbing... so me I do use a separate eye make up remover and I find that even when I've used that and this product that when I wipe over my face with my usual toner remnants of make up still lift off my face no matter how hard I've worked with this.
Overall I don't mind this for light make up days and yes once again it leaves my skin looking glowing but once again my face feels too tight without using a separate toner.
My skin in general looks good at the moment. I've had no spots appear and no black heads of late (since using this product). Skin feels generally softer and smoother and all in all I'm quite pleased with the results however I can't use this without toner either in the daytime or the night time versions. If you feel like you have saggy chops maybe this is worth a go. Total radiance? Sort of.... though my skin feels stretched to it's capacity and doesn't feel like my own after using these products lol. Would I buy again? No as although it's a value for money product and works out quite economical in the long run I have used far superior products to these in the past!
Only Available from Avon and at the moment and is priced at £5.00 for the two (which is one product order) and do look out for offers within the catalogue!
Summary: Not for me!
