On my first and very recent trip to the Aladdin's cave that is B Never too Busy To Be Beautiful, I treated myself to a little introductory 'Beauty Takeaway' box. It was fairly expensive at £15 but gave me lots of little products to try to get to know the 'B' Range without having to buy full size products at full size prices. One of the items was a rather generous 25g of their B Gone Cleanser. If there is one thing I love it's a freshly cleaned face and I had high hopes for this.
** B Never too Busy to be Beautiful **
To explain this shop as easily as possible, for the health and beauty fans it works on the same basis as shops such as Lush and The Body Shop. For the people who may not be as clued up, I will just explain briefly...
The company sells a treasure trove of health and beauty products, but is mainly known for their stunning cosmetic range. Their products and ingredients are tested through modern non-animal tests and a panel of human volunteers. Their suppliers also have to sign an agreement before 'B' conducts business with them so much so that when I asked if they sold Nail Varnish the lady at the counter explained that they can not get a current supplier to agree with their policy, which is a shame as their colour pigments are amazing! B Never too busy to be beautiful is also the only UK Company to carry an entire colour cosmetics line that is suitable for Vegans. So well done to them!
The thing about this shop is regardless of what they sell it is an amazing little place to look around. Full of charming kitsch items and glitzy, sparkling things all around the place, mixed with extremely friendly and funky staff members it is somewhere that you cant help but be drawn too!
** B Gone Cleanser **
The B Gone Cleanser is advertised as being the perfect solution to whisk away your party face before you hit your pillow for the night. With cucumber, almond oil and violet leaf. 'B' claims that this suits-all skin-types. It should refresh the skin leaving it perfectly clean, balanced and velvety smooth ridding you of all your grime and make-up!
From my experience with 'B' products so far the packaging on their products has always been magnificent and has (in my mind) justified their expensive price tags. My sample size was just a basic tub with the B Gone label on, but after routing around the sparkling shelves I found that this cleanser is £9.80 for 200ml. So I was expecting another jewel encrusted beauty bottle but I was wrong!! Disappointingly the cleanser comes in a plain bottle, with a gold screw on lid. The typical black label with gold writing and stars almost (dare I say it) makes the cleanser look like a hand made bottle I could have done at home. Very disappointing compared to the rest of the range and as I feel that other then their values, their packaging is one of their biggest selling points and this has let me down!!
Anyhow, as one of my favourite saying is 'it's what's on the inside that counts' I didn't rule this out before trying it, and believe me I was expecting some pretty damn good results for almost £10!
** Instructions **
Massage over face and remove with damp cotton wall. Pretty simple, even for me.
** What Is It Like To Use **
The white cleanser itself is very thin and yogurt like. It spreads out well so you don't need a lot. I guess this is where the value for money comes in. Because you don't need much it will probably last you longer then thicker cleansers. I am not a fan of cleansers which you massage on and then wipe off because I worry its going to dry before I get the rest off my face! But as this is quite 'wet' I didn't have to worry.
The first thing I noticed is that it was very refreshing, so it ticked one box. This is probably down to its cucumber element which I know is very good at refreshing the face. I was a bit miffed at having to wipe the cleanser off with damp cotton wall as leaving my face wet or damp always makes it feel tight and dry. However after easily wiping the cleanser off, the cream goes on clear so its easy to miss a bit! My skin did feel soft, smooth and extremely fresh. I was pretty impressed with just how velvety smooth my skin felt and this lasted all day; I actually had a comment on how fresh my skin looked. Wahey!!!
However, on a down note, this is a cleanser, not a moisturiser and I feel it is somewhat confused. It took off the top layer of make up, the obvious foundation that any soap and water would remove. But the real dirt and grime caught on the skin and disgustingly clogging up my pores was not moved or budged. I didn't feel completely clean and I usually do after using a relatively good cleanser. So I wasn't surprised when I used my toner and that brought up a load more dirt and make up, which usually is almost gone before I use toner. So I am a little disappointed at how much this cleanser does take off. I would probably use this after I have already given my face a good clean or if I had a good day without wearing any make up etc. So yes, it works and is very gentle on the face. With the help of the almond oil and violet leaf it doesn't make the skin red and really softens the face. So perfect for any skin type.
In terms of the fragrance, as I expected it was very gently and had only a slight aroma. It had a slight floral scent which I can only assume is from the violet leaf and as it has fresh cucumber you can't miss the slight refreshing smell of this. But the scent doesn't linger and is far from over welming.
** Conclusion **
As I said before I think this is a bit of a confused product. It claims to be a cleanser but I think it works more like a moisturiser! Leaves my skin feeling soft and loved, but not as clean as I would like.
I also think it is too expensive for what it does and it didn't live up to my expectations. Maybe that's why 'B' haven't invested so much in the packaging as it really belongs on the back of the shelve!
Oh well, many more products from 'B' to try, but I won't be buying this any time soon.
