Banana Boat Aloe Vera Gel
Advantages: Soothes, moisturises and heals without staining clothes!
Aloe vera gel is a timeless lotion that has been used to cure many an ailment from burns and scolds to dry or hardened skin. It's main uses have been cited as a soother, healer and a moisturiser and it was definitely the 'soother' element of this product that was in dire need after spending way too much time in the much anticipated English sun over the past few days and accumulating rather glowing red shoulders!
The Banana Boat Aloe Vera gel comes in a clear plastic bottle with standard yellow text on the front and the Banana Boat logo. The thick green substance inside is visible through the bottle and it contains many bubbles which gives it the look of a lava lamp! On the back is the ingredients and directions for use in simple white text. The spout of the bottle is quite unusual in that a small plastic compartment lifts up in the top of the bottle revealing a small funnel which lets out the gel. The unusual opening in the top of the bottle means that it lets out just enough gel without it spilling out and becoming wasteful. The folding down spout also means that the product doesn't spill out.
Inside, the gel is very thick and comes out with a green tint. The smell is obviously aloe vera which if your not familiar with this smell is a fresh, leafy, outdoor, natural smell which is not perfumed but isn't unpleasant at all. The smell soon leaves the skin once it is applied. Application is very easy you just put some gel onto your palms and apply evenly on the affected areas.
As I said my most recent use of the aloe vera gel was sun burn. I have always kept the gel in the fridge so it was very cold when I applied it, the feeling wasn't pleasant as you can imagine touching burnt damaged skin but instantly it was soothed by the immediate coldness of the gel and the burning sensation fizzled out for the night and allowed me to get a decent nights sleep which was much appreciated!
I have noticed that after using the gel peeling is significantly reduced in the aftermath of burning and my skin doesn't feel as dried out as it would if I hadn't have applied this gel. Therefore I can vouch for the soothing and moisturising effects of this gel. The main advantages are that the gel does not stain clothes and it is isn't sticky once it is applied it is quickly absorbed and then gets to work!
I picked up this gel about a year ago from Superdrug so I'm not aware of the price I paid but I stilla have 3/4 of a bottle left after using it on 2 holidays as well as sporadic times when we get the sun in England. This product gets 5/5 stars from me!
