“ Brand: Beauty Formulas / Type: Cleanser / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Cleanses, „
I am a fan of the low priced but very effective products from Beauty Formulas. They are a small British company, based in Yorkshire, who produce a big range of beauty items. I like to try any of their products that I see, which is the reason I first purchased the "Deep Action Pore Cleanser".
WHAT THE PRODUCT CLAMS TO DO
The product is, as you can tell from the name, a tradtional cleansing lotion. It is said to clean and tighten pores, and remove make up. It promises to help control spots and blackheads due to its ability to remove the oil and deep down dirt that helps to cause the blemishes. It contains added witch hazel to soothe the skin, and is recommended as suitable for daily use by all skin types.
Like all Beauty Formulas Products, the packaging is bright and fresh looking without being fancy. It doesn't look really cheap, just simple, without any artwork. All of the essential instructions are on the rear of the tube, which is all I need really. I do like the fact the cleanser comes in a squeezy type tube, because it is easy to dispense and make sure you get every last drop out. You are getting 150ml for £1 if you buy this in Poundworld, but I still like to get my moneys worth!
USING THE CLEANSER
The cleanser has the texture of a thin moisturising cream, and it feels cool and pleasant on the face. Some cheap cleansers feel somehow oily to me, but this is fine. It has a slight aroma, with no particular scent dominating. It just smells fresh, which is perfect for a cleanser. I use it it in the same way as I would other similar products - I apply it to cotton wool and then wipe it gently over my face. I find that you don't need to use much, as the thin consistency means a little blob spreads over a large area of your face. This makes it even better value.
I have used this to remove both liquid and powder foundations, as well as pressed powder, blusher and concealor, and it tackles all easily. I like the fact I don't have to scrub at my delicate facial skin in order to get my foundation off in paticular. Some of the so called long lasting products have previously taken too many attempts to fully remove. I haven't tried it around my eyes, as I always use a special remover product for mascara and eyeshadow.
After use, my skin feels a little tighter, but not in an unpleasant way. It feels as though I have used a toner, even though I haven't. However, my pores do not look as though they have been tightened. As the cleanser clearly removes the excess oil that I can see in the form of shine on my forehead and around my nose, I feel confident that it can be credited with keeping my pores clearer too. This does have the effect of making them less visible, as nothing stands out more than a blackhead! I don't suffer from many spots these days, so I can't really claim that this cleanser has prevented an outbreak. I am very happy with what it does do nevertheless. The fact my skin feels fresh and soft after use, rather than dry or irritated is another bonus. I haven't experienced any redness either , but this is in any case very rare for me.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS CLEANSER?
Considering that this costs just £1 if you can buy it in Poundland or Poundworld, I think it is excellent value for money. It removes make up just as well as the more expensive products I have used, and it does so while feeling pleasant on the skin. It deals with my oily patches, without drying out the other areas. All in all, it does everything I want a cleanser to do, at a bagain price. I would definitely recommend you try it out for yourself, if you see it. The range is now stocked in Wilkinsons which is handy, as well as Savers. You can also buy it online from Beauty Formulas themselves, for £3.99 including p&p, but I do not have personal experience of this.
