Advantages: Has multiple uses and works rather well

Disadvantages: Doesn't 'cure' everything

At almost 35 years old I have blemishes and scars I've collected over the years. Shaving almost daily since I was 14 has means war wounds in abundance and also going from 16 stone down to 8 stone and then back up to 9 and a half stone means that my poor old body has been stretched and shrunk meaning stretch marks. On top of that of course as we get older skin gets drier, less elasticity giving us dehydrating looking skin and an uneven skin tone in places.

I so wanted to try this out but was wary of it due to the prices of it though really there is nothing on the market to compete with the promises this product makes and reading articles in newspapers and reviews on sites such as this people spoke rather highly of it and when I saw a 200ml bottle at a market called Wellsbourne for £10.00 I took the plunge and got me a bottle because I knew I was making a great saving!

The Packaging....

No matter the size of bottle you purchase it in all bottles come in a white box with silver and orange writing on it. On the front of the box I'm told it is Bio Oil, Specialist Skincare For:

Scars
Stretch Marks
Uneven Skin Tone
Ageing Skin
Dehydrated Skin

Then I'm told that it contains the breakthrough ingredient Purecellin Oil and the size is stated at the bottom of the box. Other information on the box tells me ingredients, directions and precautions are listed, I'm told how to apply it and contact details for Keyline Brands Limited are given (the manufacturer of the product), then I'm told lots of information on how it helps things and I'm told a bit of general information about the product. Then there is a leaflet in the box that tells us more about the product in depth. The bottle is clear plastic with a screw on/off white plastic lid/cap to the top of it concealing a small hole and I'm told clearly what it is on the front of it and on the back once again what it's for and how to use it and of course told the size once again.

Application:

Apply twice daily for a minimum of 3 months. During pregnancy apply twice daily from the first trimester until after birth.

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Box....

Bio-Oil is a specialist skincare product formulated to help improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. It's unique formulation is also highly effective for ageing and dehydrated skin.

Purecellin oil (One of the added ingredients):

Bio-Oil contains the breakthrough ingredient Purcellin Oil which reduces the thickness of the formulation and makes Bio-Oil easily absorbed.

Me Using It....

Well in the bottle the liquid looks like a thin peachy coloured oil however shake a little onto the skin directly where you want to apply it or onto the fingertips and then massage it in it is a clear colour and rather oily feeling but it is a light formulation.

It is runny, it is a bit greasy so a little of this goes a very long way and the less you use the better really for economical reasons and the fact you may want to get dressed or something after applying it and you don't want to transfer grease onto things etc.

The smell of this is really wonderful! I adore the fragrance and wouldn't mind this bottled as a perfume! It has a gentle floral smell to it that reminds me of jasmine (though this isn't listed in the ingredients) but Caledula, lavender, rosemary and Chamomile is but it is lovely and fresh and rather feminine smelling.

So all you do is gently do is massage it into your problem area, whether it be into a scar, into stretch marks, into discoloured skin, into dry/aging skin or generally into simply dry skin to moisturise it a bit. This dries really quickly and leaves no residue on the skin but you do need to give it a few minutes to dry completely and it does leave the area you've used this on hydrated and comfortable.

Now this takes about 3 months (with daily usage) to work according to the information given with this product and I have to say I have noticed a real difference! As I say though this takes time to work and it isn't a cure for all issues so do be aware of that!

I've found this great on dry skin. After sunbathing this is a great soother and helps skin to not feel so tight and uncomfortable. I have used this on my face as well on a patch of discolored skin and that actually was only lightly discoloured but it has lessened quite a bit giving me a bit more confidence.

On scars it depends on how deep and how old the scar is. I had a few razor scars on my legs and on light nicks they vanished completely and on deeper marks they have lightened and if they were raised they have reduced quite a bit too making them feel and appear better.

On stretch marks, again I have noticed a lightening in the colour of those but more important than that this is like an intensive moisturiser that has made the skin more supple so it's all less crinkly looking!

Verdict....

If you have issues on the skin your bothered about than this is really worth a go. If nothing else it's a good moisturiser and if skin is in good condition problems look better anyway. You can of course use this on the face as well as the body and it has never given me any skin issues.. Great on the face as an intensive moisturiser, I've noticed my face to be alot less smoother and brighter in general!

I like the fact that this has genuinely helped my stretch marks and scars (in some cases made them completely vanish) and if not made them fade, it's easy to use and kind to the skin and to me is a great purchase as a little does go a long way!

Expect to pay about £8.80 for a 60ml bottle, £14.63 for a 100ml and £19.57 for a 200ml size (prices taken from the Boots website (but it is available from many online stores at bargain prices!).
