I started using bio-oil when I was pregnant with my first baby. Being only 24 (and still rather vain) at the time I was determined that I would not end up with stretch marks covering my tummy; otherwise I would never got into a bikini again. My Mum and my Gran were quick to inform me that nothing could prevent the inevitable pink and silver lines that all women would develop in pregnancy but I was determined to do everything in my power to stop them in their tracks.

I started using bio-oil twice daily from about 12 weeks onwards, massaging it into my tummy, hips and lower back as these seem to be the places where stretch marks were most likely to appear, that is other than my boobs, but they were never going to be on public display so I wasn't too worried about them.
The texture of the oil is lovely and light. It feels great on the skin and absorbs very easily so you aren't left feeling like you have just been dipped in chip fat. It also has a nice subtle fragrance so it doesn't overwhelm the highly sensitive pregnancy senses.

By the end of my pregnancy I am proud to announce that I had not a mark on my tummy, hips or back and which I was delighted about. Fast forward 5 years to my second pregnancy and bio-oil was right at the top of my wish list. Again I was told by those in the know that I would never escape the stretch marks second time around, but again thanks to this magical little bottle I had not one. Maybe I was just lucky both times around but I am convinced I have bio-oil to thank.

Now this is not a cheap product, at almost £10 for a small bottle but I think it is worth its weight in gold. And not only does it help with stretch marks, it is great for dry skin too either applied directly to the skin or by adding a few drops to a warm bath. It can also be used on the whole body, including the face.

Overall I would highly recommend this product and even now that I have had my children I always have a bottle in my bathroom cabinet as it is a great all round beauty product.
