Scar be gone
Member Name: Ninski1
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: None in my opinion
When Bio Oil first hit the UK market back in 2002 I was sceptical of its claims and did not buy any, however, after a few of my friends had tried it with varying degrees of success I thought I would give it a go.
Bio oil is designed to help improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks, help with uneven skin tone and hydrate aging skin, whilst combating fine lines and wrinkles. It is made of the following ingredients:
Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (Calendula Oil), Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (Lavender Oil), Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (Rosemary Oil), Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil (Chamomile Oil) , Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) , Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) , Paraffinum Liquidum Triisononanoin Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate Isopropyl Myristate, Glycine Soja Oil, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, BHT, Bisabolol , Fragrance (Rose), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone , Amyl Cinnamal , Benzyl Salicylate , Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene,Linalool , Orange: CI 26100 (Red 17), Pink: CI 26100, (Red 17) and CI 60725 (Violet 2)
Bio oil is made without harming animals and contains an ingredient called PurCellin Oil, it is toxicological safe and can be used by pregnant women.
The Bio Oil comes is a clear plastic bottle with a screw top lid that is easy to use and does not leak, I have a 125ml bottle and paid £14.99 for in Boots a while ago.
The Bio Oil is orange in colour and has a thin oily consistency with a slight smell of rose, though overall I think the smell is pretty bland. The oil is easy to use and is dispensed from the bottle from a small hole and as a little goes a long way the bottle is still going strong after a few months. I use the oil mainly on a scar on my knee, that I got when a garden fork stabbed it when I was a child, the scar is quite big and soft but is a different colour to the rest of my skin. I have been using the oil for around 2.5 months on the scar, as it should not be used on broken skin. The directions on the bottle say to use it twice daily for 3 months to see a difference, though results vary from person to person. I would say that the scar had definitely started to fade a little, it is red and sometimes pink as it seems to change a little depending on how hot or cold my knee is, and the skin around the knee seems a little softer, overall I am pleased with the results and will continue using it.
Bio Oil can also be used on your face to improve lines and wrinkles and also to even out skin tone, I have not used the oil in this way so cannot verify the results.
Overall I would recommend Bio Oil to others as, although it seems pricy a little goes a long way, the results have been good so far, therefore I will continue to use it.
Summary: Useful product that works well
