      Disadvantages

A lovely face mask that clears up my pores and seems to reduce shininess.

Biotherm is a brand that I first experienced after a friend gave me a sample of something, then my sister did too. Suddenly I found myself searching on eBay on a weekly basis for samples of Biotherm items so I could see if there were other products that I enjoyed. Then before I knew it I was looking in shopping centres to find places that stocked the brand while out shopping and now I've finally taken the plunge and started trying some of their full priced items rather than just buying samples off eBay or hoping for a friend or my sister to get me some more!

Face masks are something that I use at least 3 times a week, often more. I like to apply a face mask while relaxing in the bath, then I wash and condition my hair before rinsing the face mask off and then exiting the bath. I find that this works well for my skin and generally I receive lots of compliments on my fair and clean complexion. This obviously is a huge confidence booster and I have now reached a level of confidence where if I do not have access to make-up or I am running late for work that I don't worry my life will come crashing down around my feet!*

The packaging for this face mask is nothing special but that I am not often swaying just by packaging alone. This packaging is a blue colour and has a white lid and white writing on it. The packaging is simple to read despite there only being a few words of English on the front. I feel like Biotherm don't have anything to prove with their packaging and this actually makes me feel as if I am going to get a product that has been solely concentrated on rather than dressing the product up too. I saw this on the Boots website rather than in-store and as I had used up all my Lush stocks and my sachets of face mask and was generally running low on everything I figured I'd treat myself. The dispenser on this tube is a nice size but there isn't wastage as a

This mask is designed to reduce pores and shine and despite having usually spot free skin I have had a few problems with unclean pores around my nose (despite cleaning my face twice a day) and shininess on my forehead. I was sold on this mask just from reading the front to be honest and then the description on the Boots website helped me feel a little better about spending just over £21.00 on a 75ml tube.

This mask is easy to apply and takes just a few seconds too. I wash my face before I apply this and give it a gentle wipe over. Then I apply a light layer of this mask and leave it on, probably for around 5-10 minutes while I wash and condition my hair. I must say that on occasion I have left it on for almost 30 minutes (distracted by the phone ringing) and I've not suffered any adverse affects at all apart from my skin feeling a little bit tight (but not badly so). I find that this creamy face mask spreads on to my skin lightly and a little goes a long way. I may be overly cautious using this but then it is over £21.00 so I have tried to make it last as long as I can.

My complexion is great, and has stayed that way, since using this and I have found that the pores around my nose are far less visible. This face mask has definitely contributed to that as I have continued using cleanser, toner and moisturiser that I've used for quite a while off and on. I still got the occasional pre menstrual spots on one area of my face but that is nothing unusual and I did feel that the spots lasted less time and there were less of them. With regards to the shininess my forehead has been less shiny but that could be because I am using a Benefit make-up product to help with that now and perhaps the two are working together or perhaps it is just the Benefit item that is working well, either way my forehead looks less shiny and I feel more confident because of that.

I do feel that the price for this was steep, however, I've had a good 12 or 14 sessions from this and it has lasted me around a month. I feel that this is great value for a 75ml bottle infact and I will have no hesitation when buying this again. I'm giving it 5/5 for this reason!

*This statement may have been an exaggeration.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative.

I have used a couple of biotherm products in the past and felt that generally the brand offers good quality. I do have reservations about buying products from brands that are as pricey as biotherm, because you invest a lot of money and if the product isn't good or doesn't suit your skin then it is a large amount to throw away. However, I really love using face masks and often find quality products better and that is what prompted me to buy this product.

The bottle the mask comes in is relatively unexciting. The plastic tube is a bright mid-blue colour with white writing and a white plastic lid. I find it vaguely reassuring that the packaging is so plain. It is functional and suggests to me that the brand invest money into creating a great product rather than using gimmicky packaging. I really like that the product comes in a tube, it means that should you want to use the entire contents you can cut it open and use it all. The hole is a nice size, dispensing enough product but giving you the option of using smaller amounts.

The mask is designed to reduce visible pores and shininess. I have to say I don't really suffer from oily skin and my skin can sometimes be quite dry. That said, I use a lot of very good moisturising products so I wasn't too worried about this mask drying out my skin. The astringent nature of the mask should reduce breakouts which is great for me - although I don't suffer from regular outbreaks I like to protect my skin as best I can.

I usually apply this mask after getting out of the face - I prefer to use it when my hair is wet otherwise I tend to get it in my hair. It advises that you leave the mask on for 10 minutes but I would vary this depending on how your skin is feeling. It is fine to leave it for anything between 5 to 20 minutes, just be aware that the longer you leave it the dryer your skin might be. The mask is creamy and thick, it is easy to apply to your skin and smoothes over easily. It does leave your face completely white though so don't go and answer the door while you're wearing it. You can easily remove the mask with water or a face wipe. It advises to use it twice a week but I probably use it only once a week. I think you do have to use quite a large amount in one go which is a bit annoying for me as it is an expensive product.

After using the product my face felt smoother and looked clean and fresh. It evened my complexion and visibly reduced my pores which is great. I didn't see a noticeable difference in breakouts which is a little disappointing for me. I can't really comment on the oil reducing factor because I don't have oily skin. It did tend to dry out my skin a little though so this would suggest it would be effective on oily skin. I would be aware of using it on sensitive skin though - I found in dry areas of my face it did tend to irritate. This isn't a consistent problem so I could use the mask without irritation but did have to limit use when I had sore or broken skin.

The price from Boots is £21.45 for a 75ml bottle. I think this is a relatively cheap product within the biotherm range and similar to other brands like dermalogica or skin ceuticals. However, compared to cheaper brands this is a lot more expensive. There are many great things about this product that almost convince me to re-purchase it but I do have to say that I have found equally good products from cheaper brands and therefore this one just isn't worth the money.

Look out for cheaper products of equal quality - they certainly exist.

        Biotherm Biopur Pore Reducer Mask

I was advised to use this mask as it may help with temperamental skin. The mask reduces shine and also unblock pores while at the same times reducing them. I was a bit taken back with the price but decided to buy them anyway as a little treat.

Applying this mask it very easy. You need to clean your face first and then apply the mask. You need to leave the mask for about ten minutes. I thought the mask was a bit creamy while applying it but its quiet consistent and it stays well on. You don't need much to cover the whole face and when you are done applying you have a beautiful white face! You need to rinse it off after ten minutes with warm water. The brand advices that you use this mask once a week, so don't go applying it every day!

The little tube lasted me about three times so around three weeks which is a bit disappointing since the tube cost me around 20 pounds. I have to say that the result is good and I felt after just using it once that my face felt a lot softer and smoothing. It looked a lot less shiny and less greasy. It looked overall a lot healthier.

I think the Biotherm Biopur Pore Reducer Mask is a great product when you suffer from an oily skin. Just a shame that it is so expensive.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Great product, but can it really justify that pricetag?

I have been using Biotherm products for a number of years now. Their Biopur Pore Reducer Mask is priced at around the £18-£20 mark for a 75ml tube, so it certainly isn't cheap. Biotherm products are not inexpensive, but then they do give excellent results from my experience. This Pore Reducer Mask contains Thermal Plankton which is said to repair damaged skin cells and increase cellular activity.

If you suffer from oily skin then this product would be ideal for you, in my opinion. As this skin mask is designed to reduce shine and unblock and reduce pore size it will actively imrpove your skin condition. The unblocking of pores should reduce the number of blemishes you get, and also improve the overall feel of your skin. I find that my skin is often softer and clearer after using this Reducer Mask.

The packaging is typically Biotherm, with the trademark branding across the front in white on a blue coloured background. Just the key information is provided to the front of the tube, with more detailed instructions and information to the rear.

For best results I apply the mask evenly to a pre-cleansed face and leave it on for around 10-15 minutes. The mask surprised me in that it wasn't of a gel consistency, but this didn't bother me. The creamy product is easy to apply because it is of just the right thickness, and leaves you looking like a ghost! Once the time is up I simply rinse it off with warm water and pat dry.

My skin does feel softer after use, and also a little more vibrant. I also find that it prevents my skin becoming as oily for a few days at least. My face certainly looks better afterwards, and it looks less shiny, so the oilyness is certainly removed.

The only downside is the pricetag, as with all Biotherm products. There is no gettign away from the fact that this product does work, but the 75ml tube isn't overly generous either. My opinion is therefore neutral (3 stars) because of this.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          another great product!

The Biotherm Biopur Pore Reducer Mask is yet another great product from a range that is yet to let me down!

The Biotherm Biopur Pore Reducer Mask comes in a nice dark purple tube with white writing and a white lid. The tube itself is only 75ml and cost me £19 which is quite expensive as are all of the biotherm range but I do believe you get what you pay for and this is another great product.

When applying the face mask I am usually quite generous to apply a thick layer of the white cream to my face and I leave it for at least 10 minutes before I use a warm flannel and warm soapy water to remove it.
When the mask is on my face I can actually feel my skin tighten up and in turn tighten my pores which helps make sure my skin is oil and spot free. I also find that my skin looks and feels great for a good few days afterwards. It is recommended that you use the mask once a week, which I do and find my face stays soft and spot free.

The mask doesn't have a distinctive smell just a hint of a very fresh and clean smell. The consistency is quite thick but not so thick that it's still easy to apply to your face.

Overall this is great product that lives up to it's promises of spot free, oil free skin.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          .

I was advised that the Biotherm products may help my temperamental skin but at the price tag that they had on them I wasn't sure if they were worth the try in case I didn't find them any good. I have bought so many products for my skin which haven't worked how I thought they would be, but I ended up buying a Cleanser from this brand. The sales assistant who I bought the product from was probably hinting at me to buy other things from the range "to get the best results you should be using the whole range of cleansing product" - yes i'm sure I would! Anyway I did state to her that I needed to try the range first before having to sell my chihuahua's to buy other products in the range, and she gave me a little goody bag with a few tiny sized products and sachets in it to let me try. This was 1 of the products.

This brand advises that they try to create products that will solve any skin issue and this should be noticible. Sounds good right? The main ingredients in here is Thermal Plankton.

My skin type is Oily, and I suffer from Spots quite a bit, and a bit of a greasy slick going on on my forehead. Not great.

This Mask helps to reduce shine and unblock your pores while reducing them as well. After reading on the website this is meant to help renew your skin as well. The ingredients in this mask helps to regulate the Oil glands and also being an astringent it will help with spots too.

So just apply this mask to a cleansed face and leave on for about 10 minutes. The Mask seems a little Creamy when it goes on, whereas other Masks i've used for my skin type have normally been Gel masks. The consistency of the Mask is a medium thickness and this smoothes on ok and you are left with a white face. Just rinse off with warm water and pat with It is advised that you use this Mask once a week, and my little tube of this allowed me 2 applications of this.

The price of this seems to be £19-£23 and this comes in a 75ml tube, so it isn't cheap but the results of this is pretty good. My face appeared to be smoother, and after using this in conjunction with my Cleanser I felt that my skin didn't look so shiny, and when I felt my forehead it didn't feel as greasy. It just seemed to be a bit more Matt feeling and I am happy with the results from this range.

A really good product if you suffer from Oily skin. The only thing putting me off this is the price tag but if you have cash to splash then this range is great for me.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A face mask designed to tighten the pores and reduce the oilliness of your skin

Biotherm is a beauty brand that began way back in 1950. After hearing the legends that surrounded the water in the Pyrennees Mountains, a lady called Jeannine Marissal went to visit the springs. After learning that the water contained Thermal Plankton, she patented the idea of using the substance in skincare products and the company was born. Biotherm strives to create products that will solve any beauty dilemma and give visible results to the body and face.

I suffer from oily skin and have enlarged pores that I fear are only going to become larger! So when I laid eyes on the Biopur Pore Reducer Mask that promised to reduce shininess and unclog my blocked pores, I was able to ignore the steep price tag. Biotherm also promised that it would improve the texture of my skin and give me a brighter complexion by removing dull and dead skin cells, revealing the shiny new layer underneath. I could hardly leave it behind, could I?!

          How does it work?
The mask contains oil regulating Copper and Zinc, which are both substances already found in the body. Zinc enables the skin to regulate the activity of its oil glands and as it is an astringent, it also helps to remove excess oil that is already on the skin. It is a great substance for improving the appearance of acne and helps to stop more spots from developing. In fact, sometimes a Zinc deficiency can be the cause of the acne in the first place.

The Copper is an antioxidant and helps to remove free radicals from the skin, preventing premature aging. The substance helps to tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of the pores and improving the overall appearance and complexion of the face. It helps to banish a whole host of unwanted guests on your skin such as wrinkles, fine lines, puffiness and red blotches.

The unique ingredient that is patented by Biotherm is the Pure Extract of Thermal Plankton. This is a substance which is found in thermal springs and is surrounded with legends and mysteries. Since the Middle Ages, people have thought the springs gave you eternal youth and the Gallo-Roman Warriors used to bath there to heal their war wounds. They even believed that the waters could turn a toad into a dove, although that one may be pushing it!

The substance has a cooling and soothing effect on the skin. It stimulates the skins ability to protect itself from external factors such as harsh weathers and pollutants. It works deep down in the cells to prevent premature aging and improving the radiance of the skin.

It also contains Saponine Water which acts as an astringent, tightening the skin and reducing the production of excess oil. It reduces the appearance and size of the pores which in turn will mean a reduction in spots and blackheads, and a smoother complexion.

How do you use the product? This product is suitable for use once or twice a week. You may be temped to use it more often when you see the results but over using this product can have a negative effect as it can strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture, making it produce more oil to subsidise its lose. It is to be used after cleansing.

A generous amount of this product needs to be applied to the skin, avoiding the eye area and left to work its magic for one minute if you're in a rush or ten minutes, if you have the time to spare. The mask comes out as a white coat on your face, so you will look a little funny while wearing it! When the time is up, it then needs to be rinsed away thoroughly with warm water.

The product costs around £20 for a tiny 75ml tube and can be bought from some of the larger department stores and it is also available online. You may find the product for cheaper if you have the time or inclination to shop around. It comes in a purple tube with a white lid. If you like this, you may also like to try the Biopur Pore Reducer Gel and the Biopur Pore Reducer Lotion as part of the collection.

I think this mask is fantastic. It has the consistency of a gel so it glides easily over the face. It has a fresh fragrance and it feels refreshing on the skin. The thing I like the most about this product is that you can actually feel it working and tightening the skin. You need to be careful not to smile or laugh while wearing the mask.

It comes off fairly easily and a flannel may help you with this job. Once it's off, your skin looks brighter and stays oil free for longer. My pores are slightly reduced in size which means my skin looks smoother and I have had a noticeable reduction in spots and blackheads. I only wish the bottle was cheaper as at the moment, I can only afford to use it when I have a special occasion coming up!
