      freshening the face with Biotherm

Biotherm is a skin care company which is part of the L'Oreal company. The range is extensive and offers skincare, makeup, bodycare suncare and also mens products.

      ~~Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise!~~

In order to take care of our skin, we need to cleanse, tone and moisturise it daily. Many companies offer their own cleansing routine but really you can mix and match between different brands to suit your budget.

      ~~Biosource~~

Biotherm offer a range of skincare products known as Biosource. This range includes various cleansing milks, gels etc and a few products aimed at sensitive skins.

One of the toners available is Biosource Clarifying Lotion for Normal and Combination skin. This toner is designed to clean out the dirt within your face, refreshing it and ridding it of impurities. It can be used after cleansing your face and should be followed up by a moisturiser to complete the routine. It contains trace minerals, wetting agents and hydrating agents.

      ~~Design~~

The toner is supplied within a tall, rounded plastic bottle with a twist on lid. The bottle is tinted green with fresh white writing.

      ~~Application~~

The easiest way to use the toner is to soak a cotton wool pad and smooth it over the face from the inside out. You should repeat this until the pad is no longer turning manky!

      ~~Availability and Price~~

      www.biotherm.co.uk offer a 200ml at £15.30 or a 400ml at £23.05.

      ~~My Thoughts~~

I now use a toner twice daily (when I can be bothered). I started off using the dry skin version of this toner as it was very gentle on my skin. I realised I had a 30ml bottle of the normal toner and decided to give it a go. I have used this one alongside my Clinique cleanser and No7 moisturiser.

The packaging is quite basic considering the price but not offensive and does the job fine. The toner has a fresh, clean scent about it but isn't too strong and certainly doesn't scream alcohol like many toners I have used in the past do. I use a few cotton pads with this toner in the morning and evening..once to prepare my skin for the day ahead and once to take the day off in time for bed.

      ~~Sourcing Out A Winner~~

Often after cleansing my face, it can feel a tad dry and tight. Toning it brings all the crap up and after toning my face, I always feel deeply ashamed at the mess left on the cotton pads. Dispensing this is fairly easy as it flows smoothly from the bottle and providing I hold it at the correct angle, no mess is made. I don't completely soak the wool pad as I find a small dribble is sufficient. The toner is quite oily but clear.

Sweeping a cotton pad over my face starting with my nose and outwards to my cheeks, the toner transfers well leaving my skin quite damp. It sweeps across with little effort on my part and feels cool and calming. I find I need 3 cotton pads in total (1 for cheeks and nose, forehead and my chin area) and then I feel clean. The toner leaves my face tingling a little which is normal but it isn't uncomfortable or unpleasant.

The cotton pads certainly loose their colour quickly as the dirt from my pores is pulled out. Although my face feels clean with any cleanser I use, the deep down dirt doesn't quite disappear hence the reason I use a toner to finish the job. Anyway, the dirt on the pads is certainly more noticeable at night time as they bring up the remains of my makeup and general crap from during that day. I notice it more if I have been out around cars in stuff and its amazing how dirty my face gets then!

When using this on my face, my face feels ultra refreshed and revitalised like someone has thrown a bucket of ice cold water over my head..quite a weird and pleasing sensation I must add. It dries in quite quickly and my face feels a tad on the tight side but this is relieved by applying a swish of moisturiser. If I don't use a toner for whatever reason, my face just doesn't feel clean and refreshed so it is certainly giving my skin a boost everyday.

      ~~Conclusion and Recommendation~~

I feel this toner is much more effective than the dry skin type but perhaps a little stronger on my skin. It is easy to use and gives me the results I desire with only a tiny drop needed for full facial toning everyday so even my small bottle is lasting incredibly well. I would say this is worth the cost but if you find it cheaper on ebay snap it up.

Recommended by myself as a good daily toner.

      Thanks for reading :)
