I am a manly man but I do like to take care of my appearance as well as anyone who reads my reviews regulalrly will vouch for. I love the Biotherm range of products and my other half will often treat me as she gets them at a discount price from a relative but they can be very expensive.
I particulalrly like to use the Biotherm Homme Aquapower moisturising gel. This comes in a 75ml canister and a nice green colour which makes it look very fresh and natural looking and not at all womanly. I love the fact that this is actually a gel rather than a thick cream as I was expecting it to be. It is very easy to dispense by way of the canister and looks a bit like one of those upright toothpaste tubes you can buy.
This fantastic gel, when applied to my skin will make it feel so soft and smooth and you can really feel it doing its work. I do suffer a lot from a sensitive skin, and I always have done since I entered my teens, but this gel is so gentle on my skin and it has never irritated me at all. I personally love the way this gel foams up on my skin and it really rehydrates it so well and this is due to the thermal plankton which is contained in the product. I also use it not just on my face but also on my neck which is also prone to dryness. This cost my wife about £12 to buy but I know she got it at a discounted rate and I am unsure how much you would pay full price for it.
It lasts a long time as I never find I have to use very much of it and a small amount really does go a long way. The smell is also pleasant and I don't mind admitting I use a mosituriser as so many more men are using them nowadays. Shocking price if you pay full whack but hey, I think I'm worth it!
There is no shame in admitting that you are a male that likes to take care of his appearance - me being one of those. The Biotherm 'Homme Aquapower' moisturiser comes in a 75ml canister and to me the light pastel green gives the packaging a neutral look, being designed for men or women. The obvious giveaway that this is a mens product is the 'Homme' underneath 'Biotherm' on the front of the cylindrical container. There is a clear plastic cap on top of a silver dispensing mechanism. When you dispense the moisturiser you will notice how rich the non-greasy gel is. The claim in the text is that the pure extract of thermal plankton will ensure your skin is left smooth, soothed and healthy looking. The gel quickly becomes a very light but creamy foam and hydrates your skin. The suggestion is that you should apply the Homme Aquapower to your face and neck in the morning and evening after washing or shaving. There is a similar product by Biotherm which is intended for dry skin, but as I have slightly oily skin and wish to eliminate my acne I thought this product would be very effective.
I think now that more and more men moisturise than they used to, and I find it a great way of relaxing my skin at the same time as getting a cooling and soothing effect from it. After the first few applications I did notice my skin to be less oily, and I will also say that my skin did look a little more vibrant and healthy. The product contains vitamins E,C and B5, but in all honesty this isn't something which attracted me to the product. I don't easily fall into the trap of all this jargon with this claim and that claim, but the benefits to my skin are clear to see which is an added bonus. Justifying the price tag is the only real issue for me, but i cannot imagine finding something in the pound shop with similar results. The dispenser at first reminded me of the toothpaste dispensers I used to use as a child, but this product is a lot more sophisticated than the packaging may seem. I would definitely recommend this product to any man wanting to hydrate and enrich their skin, but as you won't see much change from a £20 note it may take more than a nudge in the right direction to tempt your friends.
Biotherm Homme Aquapower
I find taken care of my skin more and more important as I get older. I can see it at my father what the effects can be of aging and I'm sorry to say I don't like what I'm seeing. My father doesn't care that much but he does have an looking skin. If I can prevent that from happening to me, I would be a very happy man! I'm becoming more and more a fan of Biotherm and think they have some great products but also some not so much. This is mostly due the price of their products that i expect something really good.
This Biotherm Homme Aquapower is apparently one of the bestselling moisturizers of Biotherm. It doesn't come cheap and it cost 26 pounds for 75ml. It may sound expensive but what I like from the Biotherm products is that you never need to lot of the product so it last you quite some time. This moisturizer is not so much a cream but more a gel. It feels very light and is very easy to apply. It spreads out easily so that you don't need much.
What does the product do for you? The moisturizer is there to balance your skin but mostly take care of it. It has some special Thermal Spring Water minerals that should really smooth out your skin. It also contains Vitamins C, D and E to make your skin healthier and looking younger/fresher. The moisturizer makes sure your skin is hydrated all day long. I have to say I love the feeling when I apply this cream/gel. It's feels really soft but like the name it feels almost like aqua but more concentrate. When you put it on your fingers it will still there and you need to massage it on your face. The skin really absorbs the gel quickly and it doesn't make it greasy. You can see that the moisturizer is there because it almost gives your face a little bit of a shine. Just a little bit and it get less so it gives you a younger feel to it.
After a week or two I can definitely notice a difference as my face feels less dry during the day. Especially during the winter with the heating being back on I would normally get dry skin but I do notice that I don't get that anymore so I really see some improvement. I know it cost 26 pounds but I think I'm worth it.
I'm a really big fan of the high recharge range from Biotherm so I was tempted to try some more of their products but I've been trying to save money lately so I've been trying to stick to tried and trusted brands of products and not buy expensive things unless really needed. I received a voucher in a competition to use on mankind which is a favourite website of mine so after making sure I got the things I needed I wanted to treat myself to something a little bit luxurious so when I seen they had a Biotherm limited edition set of full sized products that was £72 for six things when the normal prize would have been well over £100 I decided to treat myself to it.
The set contained an aquapower moisturiser which is one I hadn't used before but I am a big fan of the high recharge moisturiser they do so I was pretty confident that this one would be good also.
Apparently aquapower is Biotherms best selling moisturiser for men and I can see why.
This is more of a light weight cream than a heavy moisturiser, somewhere between a lotion and a cream and at first I was doubtful whether or not it would be enough to moisturise my skin after a shower as it is prone to dryness but as soon as I applied the lotion it glided onto my skin making it feel comfortable and hydrated straight away. A little goes a long way and just a small amount is enough to cover the whole face.
Throughout the day my skin felt completely moisturised and supple and actually felt silky to the touch as if there was a layer on the top of my skin. Of course this made me paranoid that it was making me look greasy but upon looking in the mirror I seen that wasn't the case.
I have very sensitive skin and I have found that the more premium moisturisers leave my skin less reactive than the more budget brands and the aquapower was no different, in fact it left my skin feeling and looking much calmer than it normally does. The redness that I sometimes suffer from wasn't there and a nice side effect that I wasn't expecting was that the inflammation I get from washing and shaving was reduced with this moisturiser.
The scent is really nice but not overly perfumed it just smells really clean and fresh. The bottle also looks nice, it is a green tube with a pump action to release the moisturiser. It is masculine looking without being overly totalitarian so good for all the posers out there to display in your bathroom.
I have been really impressed with this moisturiser. It is excellent for applying in the mornings after showering and is one of those rare products that you just have to apply and then not worry about it for the rest of the day safe in the knowledge that it is doing its job.
My skin is looking better than I can remember and I have now decided when this bottle runs out I will be buying it again to replace my usual lab series moisturiser as this one works better. I'm just not looking forward to paying the £27 it normally retails for a 75ml bottle.
Aquapower is an excellent moisturiser for men that I can personally thoroughly recommend.
With my mother in law being a big fan of this brand she tends to buy it for us as gifs for birthdays and christmas as well as every other special occasion through out the year.
My husband recieved this facial moisturiser from her in a gift set that was purchased from boots originaly, as it was a gift set the bottle was a lot smaller than the standard bottle and only lasted a month.
The bottle my husbands came in had a press top pump action lid that released a small amount of the moisturiser each time you pressed it, it is great as it means you dont get too much out at once like you do with a standard squeezy bottle.
This is available in normal/combination skin which is the one my husband recieved but is also available for dry skin too.
It is more like a gel than a cream to look at it and it goes onto the skin nicely without making the skin look or feel greasy which is good if you have combination skin like my husbands.
My husband isnt realy into moisturising his skin too much as most men are not but he uses this after having a shave when he isnt going any where special so doesnt need to apply after shave, it eliminates any soreness from shaving and soothes the skin to stop irritation, it leaves his skin lovely and soft to the touch and looking balanced rather than oily like other creams have done.
It is £26 for a full tube of this which is 75ml and would last my husband around 10 weeks which i dont think is too bad for money as cheaper moisturisers wouldnt do the job as well and you would need to use them more often.
I have used this for about 2-3months after it was recommended to me from a sales consultant at Biotherm in House of Fraser. At first I believed it to be just another moisteriser but having used it on a regular basis (after shaving and showering) it really does keep your face hydrated.
This review may be slightly biased as the effect of products vary from person to person. But if you have fairly dry, normal skin I think it's worth trying this gel out. You don't need to apply vast amounts each time so the little dispenser it comes in (75ml) will last quite a while (1-2months) even if it does cost anywhere between £20-£30 each.
The dispenser is a nice soothing green/aqua colour and its cap fits firmly in place after use.
The gel itself is non greasy and has a nice scent to it. So for those who don't like applying moisturisers which leave behind greasy skin and hands, this is the product to buy!
I received some of this as a gift years ago, at the time I didn't think it would get a lot of use. For me, facial care consisted of shaving and leaving as fast as possible :-)
I eventually got around to trying it after a shave, it was such a refreshing sensation and my skin absorbed it really quickly. This was the start of a descent into a daily 'routine' for me, if you don't want any extra bottles and tubes in your bathroom don't buy this stuff!!
How does it feel? It easily absorbed, not oily and doesn't leave your skin in any way looking shiny.
How does it smell? I'm happy this doesn't contain any strong fragrance, the smell that it does have is really fresh and clean.
Is it expensive? Yes, it's not the cheapest thing in the world. 75ml can cost between around £20 and £25. Worth it in my opinion, you don't need to apply a lot to make your skin feel good.
There is a dry skin version as well.
This is the only mens skin product that I make a point of regularly using.
