I was not always a bloke who would use a facial moisturiser or indeed anything else oalong this line, but as I have got older I have become more aware of the fact that my face can do with a bit of help, and also more aware of the great range of cosmetics on sale for men. I use Biotherm moisturiser which is specifically designed for me. Men with dull skin. I don't think my skin is looking particularly dull, mind, but it is looking a bit more crepey so I thought this might do me some good.
It is massively expensive at £31 for 1 50ml red pump but the reason I bought it was because I had been given a sample sachet beforehand and tried it and liked it, otherwise I would never have bought this, never mind heard of it!
The pump works well and dispenses a good little blob onto my finger. I don't use much and I am happy to say I apply this around my eye area and it doesn't cause any adverse reaction at all depiste my having a very sensitive skin.
It makes my skin feel healthier and it sort of plumps it out a bit. Is is a bit hard to explain but I go genuinly feel that I look fresher after I have used this cream.
My wife has tried it but she says she doesn't like the consistncy. I actually like the consistency. It's very light on my face and I don't feel like I can feel I've applied it like I can with Nivea for Men which I also use from time to time.
As I have so much facial hair it is a bit hard to get it onto the skin and avoid the beard at the same time. That is why I tend to use it primarily around my brow / forhead and eye area mostly.
Thsi is good stuff - expensive but worth it.
I'm a bit of a tart in that I like my products and as far as I'm concerned every man should be moisturizing themselves morning noon and night to avoid looking like Gordon Ramsey pre botox. The days of soap and water are long behind us guys and beer bellies and baggy eyes are not a turn on to any of the women out there (damn you Brad Pitt and David Beckham). Luckily in this day and age there is no excuse for a man to be embarrassed about taking care of themselves anymore with nearly every major skin care company bringing out a range of products designed specifically for men.
One of the better ranges out there is by Biotherm who do a vast array of products designed to meet the needs of the modern man. Out of their entire range (of which I have tried most) the best in my opinion has to be their High recharge line of products. The range is designed to fit in with a man's lifestyle and is supposed to help disguise those signs of fatigue we all suffer from. So does it work? Well in my opinion it is never going to make you look like you have had 8 hours of sleep a night and drink 2 litres of water a day but as a moisturizer it is pretty good.
It comes in a 50ml red pump bottle that practically screams expensive at you and at £31 it is not a cheap moisturizer. It contains an impressive list of ingredients such as pure ginsing extract that promises to instantly boost dull skin and lots of vitamins and trace elements.
The consistency is really light and when applied it does not leave a greasy residue on the skin so shouldn't contribute to any outbreaks for those of us with sensitive skin. It is perfumed but the smell is not overpowering and actually seems to compliment my aftershave. As for its claims to make you look more awake I'm not sure how accurate a statement this is but it does leave my skin feeling really nice and supple and also I have noticed the tone of my skin has improved a lot since I have been using it. There are still small patches of redness but it looks to be much more even than before.
The moisturizer is light enough to apply all over the face including the eyes and I feel like I have noticed a slight improvement in my slight eye bags since using it but even if this is my imagination I have definitely noticed a lightening of the darkness below my eyes which I am crediting to this and the accompanying eye serum as I am still smoking like a chimney and drinking like a fish so it's not due to a new found healthy lifestyle unfortunately. As for any anti aging properties it may have I can't comment as I don't have any wrinkles but the fine lines by my eyes do seem to have improved slightly.
I have really sensitive skin and a lot of products make my skin misbehave but I have had no trouble with the entire high recharge range even thought they are scented and full of high tech ingredients. The only thing I have noticed is that when I apply it I get a slight tingling but this actually feels quite nice and I am choosing to put it down to the products working miracles on my skin and counter affecting all the damage I am inflicting on myself.
I would definitely recommend this moisturizer to all the guys out there as it definitely has improved the look of my skin and I enjoy treating myself to an expensive product but I'm not sure it works to make you look more awake, I think getting enough sleep is the only thing that is going to do that for you. It's not the elusive miracle product that will do everything that we all want but as a moisturizer that will noticeably improve the look and feel of your skin then it's pretty damn good.
