I have used a number of Biotherm products in the past, so when I saw the Biotherm Homme Toning Cleansing Gel online I decided to give it a try. I have used cleansing gels in the past and they are very good at refreshing your skin. Often on a morning my skin can be quite oily and the gel not only refreshes the appearance of your skin it also looks after it for the long-term, too.
As Biotherm is a brand I use regularly and therefore trust I had a feeling it would live up to my expectations. Priced at around £15 online for the 150ml tube I think this is fairly reasonable considering Biotherm isn't the cheapest brand around. You do get what you pay for, though, so I expected to pay such a price and there are bargains online if you shop around.
As the price is higher than general cleansing gels on the market I did expect something extra special and this is exactly what I got from this particular product. Only a small amount of the gel is required to cleanse your face and after wetting my face with warm water I apply it to my hands and then rub it all over my face. The effect doesn't immediately give me that cooling and soothing feel I have grown to expect from Biotherm, I am left a little disappointed on this front to be honest. Ultimately the overall result after patting my face dry is that my skin looks and feels a lot cleaner. The cleanser is great at cleaning, clearing, toning and rebalancing skin.
The gel contains vitamins and minerals according to Biotherm, they are from Thermal Spring Water apparently. I think it is safe to say that from my personal experience that this cleansing gel has a positive effect on my skin and although the experience isn't impressive at the time of application, the results are more than satisfactory.
If you use a more affordable brand of cleansing gel and you are not dissatisfied or looking to change then I would advise you stick to it. Biotherm Homme Toning Cleansing Gel isn't a breathtaking product, but it works for me. The price is a little much, especially as there are probably cheaper brands that do a similar job, but I like this brand a lot and can trust Biotherm to look after my skin for the future.
This gel doesn't give me the instant cool effect in a morning, but then the results are noticeable after application. My skin doesn't feel too tight afterwards, but as it tones and cleanses I did expect some tightness to my skin. Overall a decent product but not one worth switching to.
Biotherm Homme Toning Cleansing Gel
Using a cleansing gel can be very good for your skin and it's very important to take care of you skin if you don't want to look rough and old later on. You can better start on time then to late right? I think I still have a good skin although I do look rough sometimes in the morning. To take care of my skin I use a cleansing gel and I have used this one from Biotherm before.
Biotherm is a brand I trust and like. Their products are expensive but they last for quite some time and normally they really work. I'm now using another cleansing gel from them which I'm very happy about. Unfortunately I wasn't so happy about this one. When a product is expensive I expect them to be better than some cheaper product that you can buy for half the price. So I expect the best of a cleanser that comes for a price of 15 pounds. You get 150 ml what will last you for a few months.
That's what I like about the products of Biotherm is that you really only need a small amount to wash your face and it can last you for a while. The cleansing is a gel that spreads out really easy. Just make sure you wet your face first before you apply the gel. In combination you only need a small amount for your whole face. The gel contains vitamins and minerals from Thermal Spring Water according to Biotherm. It supposed to cleans, tone and rebalance the skin without making your skin dry. This is normally the case with the cleaners I use is that they dry out my skin.
The cleanser is fine and it doesn't dry out my skin but it doesn't do anything for me. It gives me a nice feeling after washing my face but I know better. It doesn't give me a wakeup call what I love. The does give me a clean feeling which is important but some other cheaper brands do the same and also not drying my skin out. For 15 pounds I expect a nice good fresh feeling instead of just a nice feeling.
It's not a bad product but it's just not worth the 15 pounds. The other cleanser from Biotherm is a lot better and does give me that wakeup call in the morning so I rather go for that one.
After being genuinely impressed with the other products in the limited edition Biotherm set I received there had to be at least one that disappointed and that was the cleansing gel.
Again like the rest of the Biotherm products the cleansing gel is expensive at £17.50 for a 150ml tube but unlike the rest who at least do a good job to justify their price tag the cleansing get was a real let down.
The cleansing gel comes out as a gel that lathers up really well to produce a good foam. A small amount goes a long way so the tube should last a long time.
The gel is scented with a really nice subtle smell that really does make me feel fresh and clean. It actually smells expensive like a nice classic aftershave.
I have really sensitive skin that can be greasy and this cleansing gel left my skin looking a little red after use. I wasn't too concerned by this as it faded quite quickly but what really bothered me was the fact that this gel striped all moisture from my face.
After washing my face it felt a little tight so when I added moisturiser I had to put a little more on than normal but an hour later my face was still really dry and by the end of the day I had itchy dry patches on my cheeks.
One of its big selling points is the fact it is supposed to soften the skin and bristles making shaving easier. Now this I feel is just a complete and utter marketing ploy and it didn't make shaving any easier for me and if it softened the bristles then the effect was so subtle as to be unnoticeable.
The packaging is the same as the rest of the biotherm range subtle and masculine in a dark grey colour. I actually really like the look of the tube as it is perfect for a men's range of products.
I couldn't personally recommend this cleansing gel because of how it reacted with my skin.
I hate to be so harsh on the cleansing gel as the rest of the range is absolutely fantastic but at £17.50 it is completely overpriced for a face wash and I may as well have used soap for all the good it did my skin.
