“ Brand: Body Shop / Texture: Cream / Type: Wash / Subcategory: Face Cream / Suitable for: Face / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Enriches, „
As I use the Jojoba face cream from the same range in the Body Shop and absolutely love it, I thought I would treat myself and buy the matching face wash with my most recent £5 love your body bonus. This meant that the cream only cost me 85p which I considered an absolute bargain.
The reason I use the hydrating face cream from this range is that I suffer from dry and quite sensitive skin. Please see my review on that product for more details but basically it is the best and most effective cream I have ever found for my face, I was expecting to find this facial wash would be just as good - but I have to say that I am not overly impressed with it.
I used it in the shower as that's where I always wash my face and the first thing I noticed is that it is a strange consistency for facial wash and does not lather at all. To be fair it does state on the back of the product that it is soap free and maybe this is why it does not lather, however it is quite thick and sticky and to my mind it was not a very helpful consistency for cleaning my face.
Nevertheless I massaged the cream into my face and neck and then rinsed it off, it has a fairly mild and pleasant smell and it washes off easy enough. The bottle is quite useful in that the product comes out the bottom and it is a squeezable tube so it's always easy to get some out.
After my shower I almost immediately noticed that the skin on my face felt tight, almost like it would if I had washed it with a cheap bar of soap. I was quite surprised by this. To rectify this I had to moisturise more than usual (using the matching hydrating day cream which I know to work).
I persevered with the product for a whole week but felt the same every time I dried my face, it just did not seem to be hydrating in any way. I also did not feel like it was doing a particularly good job of cleaning either and I have switched back to my normal (and much cheaper) boots facial wash.
I am disappointed with this product because I expected so much, maybe this particular one just does not suit my skin, the first time that a Body Shop product has left me feeling dissatisfied. Maybe it is the exception that makes the rule, but I certainly wont be buying this one again.
