A lovely inexpensive product which is well worth trying.

In my quest to find paraben free face creams I came across a product which instantly appealed. Now before I describe this cream, I must explain that I have nothing against mainstream products for the face, many of these result from many years of clinical trials, and offer very definite claims in terms of reducing wrinkles, or are anti-ageing. It is my personal choice to use more natural cosmetics, which do not offer these specific properties, but I am perhaps not as worried as some about preserving youth, but more about enhancing maturity, so if you feel like me then this could be a lovely product to try. Bomb Cosmetics who make the Violet and Lavender Night Cream, which I am reviewing, are a company in many ways similar to Lush, though maybe not so well known, or represented on the high street. They produce natural cosmetics and toiletries, and these can be purchased on-line, and in gift shops and health food stores nationwide. This Violet and Lavender Cream, from their apothecary range, is simply packaged in a plain jar with a violet label, and is suitable for vegans, as it has no ingredients which have been tested on animals. This is very important to me, as wherever possible I like to take account of ethical issues when purchasing cosmetics, although it isn't always possible, and I will only buy if the product is of a high standard, and actually performs well. This cream is a lovely pale lavender shade, and when you unscrew the jar the fragrance is absolutely gorgeous. The first time I used this my husband was the first to comment on the lovely smell, which is certainly the best attribute the product has. It is floral, and I would say the violet element of the fragrance dominates over the lavender, so it has a romantic, intense summery aroma, not the scent that lavender often has, which appealed to many old ladies of years gone by. The cream has a luxurious thick Greek yoghurt consistency, and it is easily absorbed and leaves skin feeling soft, fragrant and very moisturised. I have been so delighted with this that I am already planning a second purchase. It is so inexpensive too, direct from the website it is £7.49, but I found that by going to the cash back site at www.quidsinuk.co.uk that clicking through to Amazon yields cash-back in addition to their already cheaper price of £5.99 for the cream, which includes free supersaver delivery. This cash- back site works in a slightly different way for Amazon purchases, in that you also have to input details after delivery on the website, as well as clicking through first to claim the cash-back. However I would recommend using this site for any future Amazon orders, as cash- back sites offering Amazon as an affiliate are rare. The pot is a full 100ml and it lasts for ages. I also have other natural face creams including another favourite from the Greek company- Korres- namely the Wild Rose Cream. This is over three times the price for half the volume, so the Violet and Lavender Cream really is a brilliant alternative, and I actually prefer it over the Korres as a night cream. The manufacturer tells you to rub the cream in gently paying particular attention to laughter lines, but warns to keep away from the eyes. The cream contains Violet flower extract and Lavender flower oil, and the website says that it is "a delicate floral fragrance with a Violet heart blended skilfully with Lavender base notes." This is certainly a very accurate description of the fragrance which is predominantly, as I said earlier, a violet one. It is designed to sooth and calm as the main ingredients possess these qualities, and I do find it very relaxing to use at bedtime The website is at www.bombcosmetics.co.uk and this also has an interactive map so you can ascertain the nearest local stockist to your home, should you wish to purchase locally. Over the last few weeks that I have been using this cream I really feel that the condition of my skin has improved a lot, and is softer and more moisturised. I am almost 50 now, and do use night creams daily, though my skin is in relatively good condition, as I have never smoked or spent many weeks in sunny climates. However, it is showing its age in places, and this cream has certainly improved its appearance and texture. If you are looking for a paraben free cream, with a lovely fragrance then I think this is simply gorgeous and perfect for all budgets. It has another brilliant use in my opinion and that is that it makes a lovely hand cream. I often use it during the day as the fragrance is so lovely on newly washed and creamed hands, and they too have become softer and more moisturised over the time I have been using it.
