Advantages: Draws out impurities well
Disadvantages: Smells funny
I have been using this clay mask for many years now and it has become one of my favourites.
The product comes in a 120ml clear tube with a screw lid and is part of the Boots Botanic Power of Plants range. It currently retails at a very reasonable £2.49, and is often on the Boots 3 for 2 offers.
The Boots Botanics range combines a variety of plant extracts which seek to give you a balanced approach to skin care for all skin types. The mask contains Burdock which acts as an anti-oxidant and draws out skin impurities. The product is also authenticated by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
The product itself is dark grey, with a green tinge, in colour and it has a fairly thick consistency. It is important to shake the mask well before attempting to squeeze out of the tube as it has a tendency to settle and then separate when not in use, as a result it comes very runny and will squirt all over the bathroom if you are not careful! The mask smell muddy, and at first slightly mouldy, but this is due to the ingredients and once applied to the face, the smell is not over powering or off putting.
I use the mask once a week and I apply it to cleansed skin and leave to dry for around 15-20 minutes. It dries quite quickly, provided that you put a fairly thin layer on. It dries a light grey shade and makes the skin feel quite tight. It rinses off easily with clean water and leaves my skin feeling soft and thoroughly cleansed. I have combination skin, that can be quite sensitive, and the product has not irritated my skin. If I become slack with my skin care routine I can definitely feel the mask working, as it does draw out impurities, which as first may cause a few pimples, but its worth preserving as the product does work well. I notice that if I use it while in the bath and then rinse it off, the water turns a bit grey and a slightly dirty residue is left behind once the bath water has drained away, this cleans off with a bit of water and has not marked or stained the bath.
Overall, I would recommend this product to others; it is well priced, works well and although it smells a bit funny, has become a staple in my bathroom cabinet.
Summary: Would recommend to others.
