“ Brand: Boots / Type: Toner / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / Product line: Boots Botanics „
I originally purchased this toner because I was ordering some Botanics body products and as the range was on 3 for 2 I thought this sounded like a good toner to try and it worked out as a bargain.
This toner is 100% certified organic which is a great bonus when purchasing any product.
This toner comes in a tall plastic bottle with simple label on with some instructions on the back and the Botanics logo on the front. The bottle holds 150ml of toner. The lid is a twist top so is really secure, it may be nicer if the top was smaller so not as much toner came out.
I use a toner after I have cleansed my face and before I apply moisturiser. I apply some toner to cotton wool and wipe it all over the face. It is a stage which I really like and feel that it calms my skin and removes any traces of make up which were missed when cleansing. Upon application you can really smell the rosewater which is so calming and refreshing, this is another product which is perfect used after it has been cooled in the fridge. Years ago I would have thought a toner would strip and dry my skin but this toner is the complete opposite and leaves the skin really plump and supple
I have found this toner to leave my skin feeling refreshed and calm which is important to my skin. I can not say anything bad about this toner but I have other toners which I prefer so I would not buy this again as I think there are better out there.
Overall I can only give this product 4* as I feel there is something missing when I compare it to other toners I have used
Boots Botanics Organic Rose Water Facial Toner
I saw this product on the boots website a couple of months ago and it sounded good, so I thought I would try it out. I have been using for product for a while now and I still have mixed opinions on it but overall it is an average product and I think I will stick to my Lush Eau Roma Water.
- Product description (from boots.com)
"Refresh and remove the last traces of make-up and surface grime with Botanics Organic Rosewater Toner. Organic damask rosewater naturally cleanses without drying, leaving the skin smooth, supple and toned."
- About the product
This toner comes in a clear bottle and the bottle contains 150ml or 5 us fl oz of toner. The bottle has a screw top lid which closes tightly and the bottle has quite a lot of information printed on it about the actual product, how to use the product and also and ingredient list which is very short and is as follows: Aqua, Alcohol denat, Glycerin, Rosa damascena flower oil, citronellol - the last four ingredients are certified organic ingredients. This toner is also stated to contain extracts authenticated by Royal botanical garden, Kew. Also the packaging can be recycled - or re-used for something else.
- Using the product and results
Using this product is really easy, I use this product after I have cleansed my face or if I did not wear any make up that day then this product will stand in for my cleanser. I just dispense some of this toner onto a cotton pad and then I sweep the cotton pad all over my face, jaw and neck. If I have had makeup on that day then I will take some more time doing to make sure there is not make up or cleanser residue on my skin. The toner works fairly well and it smells really nice too - like Turkish delight! This toner works really quite well at making sure there is no makeup or cleanser residue on my skin but this product is not that good at removing makeup by itself - although it is really good at removing lip products when applied to a cotton bud. Overall, using this product is very easy and quick and it works fairly well on the whole. Although one of the results that I do not like after using this product is that it does irritate my skin a bit, which is not good and it obviously makes me not want to use this product. When my skin is more normal than sensitive due to eczema, then this product works better but my skin is fairly sensitive all of the time so I haven't really liked using this product. Although when I do use this toner my skin feel smooth and clean afterwards and it does not seem to dry my skin out too much - but I definitely have to apply my moisturiser as soon as possible after this product as my skin is extremely dry.
Overall, I have experienced mixed results with this product as it does work fairly well as a toner and it makes my skin smooth but it does irritate my skin and for this reason I will not be buying this product again - I think I will stick to my lush eau roma water from now on, as it does not irritate my skin at all.
- Price and availability
This product can only be bought from boots stores and boots.com, and this 150ml bottle is priced at £4.07, which is quite a specific price and a tiny bit expensive for what it is in my opinion - and as it irritates my skin.
*Very quick and easy to use
*Makes my skin smooth and clean feeling
*Smells really nice - like Turkish delight - but the scent may be the component that is irritating my skin
*Irritates my skin, as my skin is really quite sensitive due to eczema
Thank you for reading my review
I'm normally a high-end girl when it comes to skincare. I started out in clinique, moved onto estee lauder and then shifted onto Clarins, but i am getting to the point where im not sure if i can justify the £19 price tag on a bottle of the clarins toner.
Boots botanics have always been a great brand. They pride themselves on using as many organic ingrediants as they can, and i have always found their products are wonderfully effective with the added benefit of being cheap. You get 150mls for £3.99
The product smells divine, of, as you can expect, roses. It's such a nice smell. It comes packaged in a clear plastic bottle, with a white label and a silver lid. The toner is made out of alcohol and organic rosewater and is utterly fantastic. I find it removes all those trace bits of make up and dirt without irritating, and almost leaves my skin softer after i use it. You simply tip some onto a cotton wool pad and sweep over your face.
I think that this is truly a great product, i don't think it had done wonders for my skin, but my skin remains clear and soft. I'm on my third bottle now, and i highly recommend.
Don't ignore this brand - Botanics - it has some really special jewels in their range of products, and I'm happy to say that includes this one.
Their Rosewater Toner is 100% certified ORGANIC. While this is rare in itself in the beauty world (and those rarities are usually pretty costly) it is also very rare for an ORGANIC Toner, of all things, to be made available in the high street - Boots. This is a 150ml bottle here, for the price of £3.99, not bad at all.
A lot of people find using a Toner in their daily facial cleansing routine to be an extravagance, time consuming, and just another product to pay out for. I can't argue enough just HOW important it is to tone your skin! You'll see the benefits when you age; as toning the skin is just as much a part of an anti-aging prevention as a moisturizer is, and for £3.99 you don't have an excuse for such a quality product!
Rosewater is a prime anti-ageing treatment that has been used for hundreds of years, and is one of the most gentle of substances for toning your skin. It's said to tame any redness, and softens the skin considerably. This product has a light, delicate smell of roses, and of course Turkish Delight!
After cleansing my face of make-up or excess oils and dirt we pick up on our skin throughout the day, I apply a little of this on a cotton wool pad, and sweep it across my face, particularly my t-zone. You'll find just how useful a Toner is when you see just how much excess make-up and grease your cleanser or soap didn't take off the first time (this might explain to you why you get the odd breakout) and this toner does it wonderfully well - without stinging your skin as some other brands of Toner do. This is a very gentle product, and particularly good for those with dry, sensitive skin - and although it doesn't dry your skin out - you MUST apply a moisturiser after any toning.
I noticed my skin's clarity and texture has smoothed considerably, especially on my forehead. My skin feels extremely soft, another attribute to using Rosewater, and knowing Botanics has quite good ethics and the product is Organic makes me feel even more happy using it - especially at such a good price!
I am a big fan or organic products and love the scent of rose, so although I have never really used toner, I thought i would give this a shot.
I liked it enough to go through two bottles of it, however since changing my cleanser I find that I don't use it as often anymore, which is actually quite a shame as it is very pleasant to use. However is does seem to be more of a choice rather than necessity for me.
Firstly it contains organic rosewater and it smells devine, as you can imagine, and rose is renowned for it's excellent properties in skincare (probably my main reason for using it rather than removing cleanser)
This product is definitely a necessity if you use a cream cleanser which you really want to remove the traces of, and it is excellent at doing so! You really feel like there is no nasty residue left on your skin and rather than simply looking for a product which won't do your skin harm, rosewater will do it some good!
It didn't make my skin feel tight or look dry but, due to it being alcohol based, I couldn't go without using a moisturiser as it does strip the skin. However, I've noticed that my skin always seems to look 'fresher' when I use this.
Another great tip for using this product is if you put some in a little spray bottle you can carry it around with you to lightly spritz on your face during the day if it is hot or you want to feel refreshed. It won't interfere with your make up and is an amazing pick-me-up as the scent is fabulous and you're giving your skin a little kick-start again.
I started using this toner after having rosewater recommended to me by a friend as a way to tone down redness in the skin. I have been using it morning and evening now for a few months and the colour of my skin has become a lot more even. I've found that it doesn't sting like a lot of skincare products tend to on my face - which is pretty sensitive - and it smells really nice - it has a definite rose scent. Being organic is a plus but not something that I find essential. I can't tell if this has made a difference to the product or not - I'd need to compare it with a non organic version.
In conclusion, this product makes my skin feel fresher and cleaner. The smell is lovely first thing in the morning to wake me up and also last thing at night as I find the rose scent very relaxing. Best toner I've bought and I'll be using it again as apart from all the other pluses, it's good value for money at under £4 a bottle, and lasts me more than a month.
As a supposed cosmetics junkie, I have a confession to make: until recently I did not believe in using toner. When I was younger toning seemed to be a massively unnecessary step in the skincare regime and nearly all toners I tried seemed far too harsh for my slightly sensitive combination skin, stripping the dry patches of moisture. However, when I began using a cream cleanser again recently rather than my usual facial wash I found that I felt the need to use toner to ensure that every last bit of dirt and cleanser had been removed from the skin.
Boots Botanics Rosewater cleanser was an easy sell to me even though in the past I've not been a big fan of the range, as I love rosewater and anything that smells of roses. Rosewater has been traditionally used in skincare regimes for centuries and is known for its softening effect on the skin. It contains organic Damask Rosewater (authenticated by the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew) and, although it does contain alcohol, it promises to be ultra gentle on the skin while still effectively removing deep set dirt. At only £3.91 for 150mls this is a good value product but as you would expect for the price the packaging is a little on the dull side - plastic bottle and neutral colour scheme, nothing exciting to report here!
To use, you simply apply to a cotton pad or cotton wool ball and, after cleansing, stroke gently across the face. I love the smell of this - it's a beautifully delicate floral smell that is unmistakably rosewater and the smell is instantly uplifting and refreshing. For some reason the smell of rosewater always brings me out in some romantic medieval princess fancy as this is the kind of beauty product I imagine they used back in days of yore. Well that may just be me, but it's a lovely feminine smell nonetheless. As you stroke it across your face it feels cooling and I find it really soothing on the skin, calming down any slightly red patches. On removing the cotton pad I was amazed at how much dirt this managed to remove - after all, I'd just cleansed my skin! I love that you can see instantly the results of the toner on the cotton - it's so reassuring that the product is actually working! Personally I don't tend to use toner after using a facial wash cleanser, as I find these are much deeper cleaning and the dirt removed is nowhere near as much, but it's certainly gentle enough to use twice a day if you feel the need.
I normally find that alcohol based toners have a tendency to irritate my skin, but this didn't at all - instead leaving it soothed and refreshed. It didn't irritate my dry patches and I've found it to be a lovely, gentle product. Given that you pay a lot more for toners which are not alcohol based it's well worth giving this one a go and seeing if it works for you as the price is great and in my opinion it works just as well as far higher priced products. It's not something that's going to transform the way your skin looks (I think that's true of any toner), but it ensures your skin is clean of dirt and works well to soothe irritated patches - a winner in my book!
