“ Brand: Boots / Type: Face Mask / Suitable for: Face / What it does: Cleanses / Product line: Boots Botanics „
I love using this face mask during the winter to give my skin a little boost. The product comes in a 75ml clear plastic tube, with a flip top lid at the base which helps the tube stay upright and also allows the mask to dribble down so you can get it out of the tube when you are nearing the end. The Botanics range is exclusive to Boots and this particular face mask contains active plant extracts. The face mask contains Rice Bran Protein which aims to condition and restore your skin whilst the honey within the mask provides moisture. The mask aims to leave your skin smooth and radiant after the first use.
On the back of the tube is an explanation of Rice Bran Protein, which has been authenticated by Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The Rice Bran Protein is reported to be used in Korea and Japan as it contains extracts of proteins that work to bind moisture.
To use the mask, which is creamy in colour and fairly thin, I apply it generously to my newly cleansed face and neck and leave for 10 minutes, I then remove with clean warm water, although the directions for use say to remove with cotton wool. It can also be used as an overnight intensive moisturiser though I have not tried this.
Once removed my skin is left feeling smooth and soft and well moisturised. The face mask smells creamy and milky, almost like a milky dessert, which is soothing and feels nourishing. Overall this mask is well worth using, especially during the winter months to give your skin an extra boost and a bit of radiance, I paid around £5, for mine, and it is usually on special offer at Boots during their 3 for 2 promotions. I would recommend this product to others as it does a great job, is well price, smells great and stands up to other more expensive brands in my opinion.
Boots Botanica ranges is full of products using natural ingredients and real essential oils that make you feel like your doing something actually good for your skin.
This moisturising face mask is quite expensive at just under a £5 for a small tube. It lasts approximately 3 months though if you use it once a week.
The tube suggests that you can not only apply as a face mask but also apply a thin film at night for really dry skin. I haven't tried this as my skin isn't that bad but this could be useful for someone.
The cream is really easy to apply and has a nice thick creamy texture. You leave it on for 15 - 20 minutes. I find it makes my skin tingle a bit, but it doesn't sting. It washes off easily and leaves the skin feeling really pump and moisturised. I usually do this of an evening and then apply a night cream before bed. The next day when I wake up my skin does feel really moisturised. It is great with the wind and cold in the winter, at replenishing lost moisture.
I do like to try different products but if this was on special offer then I would buy it again.
When it comes to face masks I really love them. I have a fair few in my possession and I love trying them out and I feel like I truly pamper myself when I use them. I try to use one a couple of times a week but of late I've had no time and my skin has been put under immense pressure! I'm the first to admit I've been burning the candle at both ends! Out far too much and staying out as well, waking up next day in day old make up and covered in junk food, my liver was literally hanging out of my body and I couldn't tell you when the last time I drank a glass of plain water was or eaten vegetables that wernt fried either. Usually I eat a good diet, barely drink and religiously remove make and look after my skin and I love my sleep so I wasn't surprised when my skin fought back at me and my legs after 48 hours of pure partying refused to move which meant a Saturday night in for me and me complaining the whole time but genuinely... I was knackered!
Looking at my skin last week really did take it's toll on me and I looked washed out, spotty and grimy. My usually healthy complexion looked rather dull and wasn't helped by blood shot eyes etc. No matter how many products I've used on my face to make it feel and look clean nothing worked for me. Where I left make up on for days and quickly removed and replied cos I was going back out appeared dark as hell and still... days afterwards grimy. I tried many products this week to revive my appearance and I met a cute man and having a face full of spots isn't on! The only thing I can say is that he's seen me looking dead so the only way to go now is up in his estimation lol. However I have a date with him this weekend so I've seriously decided to tackle my grubby, achy body to blow him away and look my tip top best lol
So tonight (cos even though my last night out was last Friday and it's now Tuesday) I still have really bad pulled muscles all over my body particularly in my legs from the pole dancing I did in a bar on the Thursday night! So I decided to have a bath, take a whole host of products with me and lock myself away till I looked and felt like a new person! Ok I was hoping for a miracle. Luckily I can get a miracle with my beloved pamper bag in which I buy little treats of bits and pieces and I use them in emergencies or for special occasions and residing in there was this product I'd forgotten I owned!
Before I properly start my review I must firstly say that for once I didn't buy the 150ml size tube. I know it's odd for me but I already own two face masks from Botanics as it is! So basically this product is sold as I said in 150ml see through tube that tells you it's from Boots, that it is a Botanics product and what it is etc. There is always a scribble of leaves on the front of Botanics products and then on the back your told a bit about the product, warnings are given, size is stated, ingredients are listed, contact details for Boots are given and the recycle symbol is clearly displayed. I know this because I own alot of Botanics products and they're all standard lol.
My product however came in a single use sachet which is white and light green paper on the outside and silver foil on the inside. It comes in the Botanics gift sets that are currently available to buy for Christmas and are not available for single purchase. The tube at the moment is on offer at £3.38 and the usual price is £4.88. I'm not going to go on about the information too much on my sachet but I am told what it is and who it's buy etc and on the back I'm told about the product, how to use it, size is stated (in this case 8ml), ingredients are given as are contact details for Boots, there is a stamp on it that tells me it's authenticated by Royal Kew Gardens and finally the recycle symbol can be seen. Basically the sachet contains the same sort of information as the tube would in short.
About The Product... According To The Sachet....
Plant extracts at levels that really works, combined and formulated for unbeatable product performance. Naturally. This luxurious mask provides an immediate moisture boost so that after a single use your complexion is left radiant and smooth.
Rice Bran Protein: Countries like Korea and Japan have long been using rice for beauty preparations, crushing the husk and grain to use in cosmetics and bathing. This extract contains proteins which work to bind in moisture.
Directions For Use....
Apply generously to a thoroughly cleansed face and neck. Leave for 5-10 minutes then remove with damp cotton wool. For skin in need of intensive moisture a thin layer of the mask can be applied and left overnight.
Well I use mine whilst lying in the bath on a cleansed and toned face and washed with Botanics skin brightening deep clean gel. I applied this on a dry and very clean face with hair tied out of the way!
Once I opened my sachet I was greeted by a wonderful slightly fruity but very creamy and light smell that was simply a pleasure to smell and to use. Nothing too heavy smell wise but it pleased my nostrils alot! The liquid is a light creamy lotion and isn't drippy but does feel like it has a little bit of body to it and on touch with my fingertips just felt like awesome quality hand cream really.
When applying it to the face it smeared easily everywhere. It's quite greasy feeling but not uncomfortable and although I only had a single use sachet I could have got two uses from this product as a little goes a very long way. I did like the smoothness of the lotion during application and the way that there were no lumps and I soon decided I like the freshness of a sachet over that of a tub or a pot! I have used Botanics face masks before as I previously mentioned and they do have a tendency to clog round the dispenser hole so I like this idea though I dare say in the long run (if they could be purchased this way) they'd work out a hell of a lot more expensive to buy and use but the product really does feel fresher!
So once on the face you can see the light cream coloured mixture looking a bit greasy and and colour wise a bit patchy though you can feel where it's been applied to and it isn't a heavy looking cream mask just more like a greasy looking splodgy mess to be honest. Then relax!
Now I always leave anything on the longest I can so in this case it was 10 minutes. For the first couple of minutes I felt nothing at all happening. I just relaxed with my Richard Hammond book with the gentle aroma filling the air, impressed that my eyes wernt running and it was simple to use and rinse off my hands after application.
Then my skin started to tingle quite a bit. Only on open pores, spots and black and white heads and it was only a tingle but could be clearly felt. I felt like something was working and doing a job but it was all very bearable and I wouldn't even say uncomfortable or anything just noticeable.
After 10 minutes I decided to remove the product. Cotton wool gets all stuck within this lotion and therefore is a no no for me as I don't like the fuss and bit all over my face. I did try a dry face cloth but the lotion still felt like it was on my face and felt a little bit too greasy for me and knowing I suffer from oil slick issues didn't see a good option so I gently rinsed it off with lukewarm water which was very simple and fuss free to do.
Very smooth skin indeed and not smooth results in a fake and/or over the top way. Skin feels naturally smooth and hydrated. Skin on the face also feels a little more tighter and uplifted and I can really feel that. At first I thought maybe I hadn't removed the mask properly so I did wipe over with some toner to remove any left over residue when I got out of the bath but no it didn't work so obviously it's meant to tighten the skin a little. It's something you have to get used to the feeling of after being a little on the saggy side for a while!
One thing that is very apparent is that the skin tingling feeling that is provoked on the face is that the mask is doing a job. What that feeling is doing is making circulation on the face pep up cos I tell you something I had a lovely rosy complexion after using this. I glowed with health and radiance and just looked really healthy and it was all so visible and even my Mum said whats brought colour to your cheeks like she thought I was hiding a guilty secret lol!
Skin after using this felt less congested and cleaner due to all the above results and it's the first face mask in ages I have used that I could say yep this is really great! Skin does feel hydrated and more malleable and I would say this would be a great product to use before a big night or a nice date because it has a good feel good factor to it from using it to the results that you get from it. If you want to have soft skin, a good healthy skin tone and can do with a mini face lift then this is recommended.... and me? Well I shall be getting a tube of this to cheat my way through the party season tomorrow!
Excellent but do be aware it seems to tighten up the skin on the face and this does take a a little bit of getting used to! Once got used to totally recommended from me!
