I recently bought some of these Boots Essentials Refreshing Cucumber Cleansing Wipes as part of a three for two offer. I had never tried them before but I wanted a cheap everyday wipe and they seemed to fit the bill.
Each pack contains 25 wipes and has a resealable sticker over the opening. It is easy enough to pull out one wipe without ending up with a whole load of them and the sticker works well and doesn't let the remaining wipes dry out at all. I really like the cool, refreshing cucumber scent. It's pleasant without being at all overbearing.
These wipes are intended to clean your skin from both oils and make-up however I only tend to use these to clean my face and not as a make-up remover. They are perfectly fine as facial cleanser as they smell nice and have a decent amount of dampness to feel good without leaving your face all wet. To remove make up you have to rub them harder against your skin and I find this feels quite rough especially around the delicate eye area if you are trying to remove eye make up. I hardly ever wear make up so these wipes are fine for me most of the time but if I was a make-up wearer I would be looking at getting a more expensive product that is softer against my skin.
One pack of these wipes currently costs £1.50 from Boots and they are usually not the 3 for 2 offer making them even better value. I would buy them again the future but I wouldn't go out of my way and if I saw something similar of a similar price in a different shop I wouldn't just as easily pick that up instead rather then these.
In summary, these cheap wipes are fine as a basic everyday cleanser but something a little less basic is needed for make-up removal.
There is a huge variety of skin care products in the market and it's hard to find something that is perfect for you. Sometimes we are so attracted by the more eye catching and premium looking products that we fail to notice some really good products that might not be as fancy, but still give fantastic results. The boots essentials cucumber cleansing wipes are a good example of such fabulous products. They are fairly inexpensive and are not advertised as much but they give great results. I have been using the boots cucumber wipes for a long while now and they are brilliant for everyday use.
****PRICE AND AVAILABILITY****
The Boots Cucumber wipes are the Boots store's own brand wipes. Boots does a whole range of products under their cucumber range. You can buy these from any Boots store or from the Boots website i.e boots.com. Their normal price is £1.50 .But they are often on price bargains. I usually buy them when they are 3 for £3 .Making them cost only £1 a pack.
T he Boots essential cucumber wipes come in a light green packaging made of plastic, similar to the packaging of baby wipes. You can take the wipes out from a hole on the top of the packet. When not in use, the hole can be covered by a see-through plastic tab or sticker. The packaging is very simple. At the back of the pack there are the basic instruction for using the wipes and also a list of ingredients. One pack contains 25 wipes, lying on top of each other.
****WHAT DO THE WIPES LOOK, FEEL AND SMELL LIKE?****
The wipes are white in color. When you unfold a wipe you see that they are of reasonable size, measuring approximately 6 inches by 7.5 inches. The wipes feel very soft and smooth. They are of medium thickness and if you stretch or pull them you notice they are quite flexible. They don't rip or tear easily. The wipes have a faint cucumber smell. The smell is fairly mild and subtle. The wipes are not overly wet or dry. The moisture is perfectly balanced for a clean and fresh feeling after wiping. When you wipe your face with these wipes you feel that they are very gentle and soft. They don't rub your skin at all. The wipes leave the skin feeling clean, refreshed and soft. The skin does not dry or feel stretched after using these wipes.
****WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THESE WIPES****
Firstly the packaging is simple and hassle free. The small, light-weight pouch allows me to take the wipes with me everywhere. Also since the wipes are very neatly packed, lying on top of each other if, at times I forget to reseal the packet after usage, they don't dry out quickly.
Secondly the smell of the wipes is very mild and nice. I dislike facial care products that come with heavy fragrances, as I feel that they are too cosmetic and can harm the skin. These wipes are perfect as the fragrance is not over the top.
The wipes are soft and smooth. I have used these even when I had a very bad attack of acne on my face. Even with pimples and spots on my face, these wipes did not cause any burning, itching or discomfort to my skin. They did not have any negative effects on my blemished skin.
Their soft formula and smooth texture also makes it possible to use them around the eye area. They don't sting the eyes as well. They contain aloe Vera, cucumber and vitamin E, which are all fantastic for the skin.
The wipes are good for both detailed cleaning of the face or just a quick wipe to refresh the skin. They also are very good at removing make up. I find it very easy to remove my foundation. Eye makeup removal sometimes proves to be a challenge for these wipes, especially if I am wearing a gel eye liner or mascara. In that case I usually use multiple wipes at a time, which enables me to remove all my heavy eye makeup completely.
After using the wipes the skin does not feel heavy or full of product. They leave the skin feeling light and fresh. Because of this these wipes are perfect for use in summer or when you are really sweaty after running or a gym session. My skin is very oily and I dislike wipes that are full of too much moisture and make your skin very heavy after use. The light nature of these wipes makes them perfect for my skin.
Probably the best thing about these wipes is that they are very inexpensive. I usually buy them when they are on offer for a pound each which is a fantastic price for such good quality wipes. This saves me from having to worry about spending a lot of money on face wipes or using the wipes thriftily. I use multiple wipes at a time, without a second though and in emergency situations use them as hand wipes as well.
****WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THESE WIPES****
The only slight issue I have with these wipes is the the plastic tab at the top for sealing the wipes. I find that after a while the plastic tab loses a bit of it stickiness and it is hard to keep the wipes sealed. But this does not cause a lot of inconvenience to me, because the wipes don't dry out too quickly, even after being left open for a while.
All in all I think that the Boots Cucumber wipes are a fantastic product to get at such a low price. They can be used on any skin type. They are cheap and cheerful. And do their job really well.
****MY RATING OF THE BOOTS ESSENTIAL CUCUMBER WIPES IS 4.5 OUT OF 5****
*******THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR READING MY REVIEW******
After trying out a lot of other own brand cleansing wipes I decided to finally try boots. I went into boots and bought about three packs ,I love the smell of cucumber so I pleased to read that these wipes smelt of them, I new from then I would love them. These wipes are amazing for me not only do they cleanse my face when I don't wear makeup but after I remove my makeup, these wipes also make my face smell like cucumber and feel like I've had a face wash. Every time I use this product my face feels refreshed, cleansed and clear.I buy boots cleansing wipes all the time I go through one packet in about a week and a half , I would recommend this to all my family and friends. I hope that boots will recreate these cleansing wipes so that their able to exfoliate and unclog pores.
I am currently using Boots cucumber cleansing wipes.
They cost £1.50 and are obviously only available to buy from Boots or the Boots website, www.boots.com.
The packaging is very plain - it is a pale green colour with 'Boots essentials cucumber cleaning wipes for all skin types' written on the front of the packet.
There are 25 wipes in each packet.
The front of the packet has a sticker on, which you peel back to reveal a hole where you pull one of the wipes from and then you can reseal the packet by pressing the sticker back down.
I have been using these wipes for a while now and the sticker is still in good working order.
The wipes themselves aren't actually very big. They fold out to be 6 inches by 7.5 inches.
They are quite thin and you can see through them a bit, but they are not bad quality. They don't rip or tear very easily.
I have used much better wipes, but I have also used wipes that were thinner and easier to tear than these ones.
The wipes are moist, not wet and they stay moist for quite a while after you remove them from the packet, which is good. I use these wipes to take my make-up off when I am in a hurry and I find that they do a good of removing all of my make-up including my mascara. They are gentle on my skin and I have never experienced any irritation from these.
The wipes have a subtle scent of cucumber, which smells clean and refreshing.
The back of the packet claims these wipes contain extract of cucumber to help gently soften and soothe.
The back of the packet reminds you to throw each wipe in the bin when it is finished with rather than flushing these away.
I find these wipes really handy and I think they are good quality especially for the price. They don't tear easily and although they aren't the largest or thickest wipes I have used they do the job just as well as any other.
They are gentle on my skin and remove make-up with ease.
I would definitely repurchase these cleansing wipes.
I usually fully cleanse, tone and moisturise in the evenings, but I always have a pack of face wipes in my bathroom cabinet. I find them handier for when I stay elsewhere overnight, and occasionally use them if I'm too tired to do the full routine (or too drunk!) I wear full makeup every day so I think it's really important to make sure my skin is cleansed overnight to keep it looking fresh and healthy.
~Boots Essentials Cucumber Wipes~
Boots are one of the more affordable makeup remover wipes on the market, coming in at £1.50 for a pack of 25. I've often seen them on offer for 3 for £3 so it can be worth stocking up if you know you're going to use them.
They come in two types - a blue fragrance free version, and a green cucumber version. This review is for the cucumber, although as far as I can tell the cucumber is just a smell and there's no real difference other than that.
The cucumber wipes come in a green plastic casing which is distinctive and easy to spot among the aisles at Boots. They are packaged really well with not too much excess plastic (I hate when things are over packaged!)
The top of the packaging says that they are Boots essentials cleansing wipes cucumber 'for all skin types'. The wipes can be pulled out of a hole in the front of the packaging, which is resealable to keep them wet and fresh. In my experience this works well and doesn't lose its stickiness. The back has the ingredients, information on Boots and information about the product. It tells me that the wipes contain extracts of cucumber to soften and smooth, and that they also contain aloe vera and vitamin e.
The wipes are a good size and feel moist to the touch, like a wet wipe. They are a plain white colour and smell distinctly of cucumber, although a little bit chemical-y to me. They are completely smooth.
Quite simple really - use them to wipe around your face!
In my experience, the wipes take foundation off very quickly and easily, although I wear a very small amount of foundation as my skin is quite young and doesn't need to much makeup. A quick sweep around the face first of all gets the foundation off.
I find that my eye makeup takes a bit more work. I tend to use my finger behind the wipe and wipe quite firmly around my eyelashes and lower eyelashes. My lower eyeliner comes off ok, but I do find I have to really go for a while to get the mascara off - and that's just regular mascara, not waterproof. I also find that I can lose a few eyelashes with the rubbing, which I don't like.
I have occasionally got some of the moisture in my eyes, it's a bit uncomfortable but doesn't hurt or sting, although it's definitely advisable to keep them out of your eyes! I personally find the smell a bit strong and overpowering. I tend to still use a moisturiser after the wipes as they can make my skin feel a bit tight afterwards.
These wipes are great value - I've tried cheaper ones before (Wilkinson's/Primark) and they've made my eyes very sore and painful and I've thrown them away. The Boots ones are cheap but they are good quality - I'd say as good as Simple and other more expensive brands.
I think my main problem is I don't like facial wipes very much - I'd much rather cleanse tone and moisturise. I usually use No. 7 creamy eye makeup remover and I feel the cream takes my mascara off in a much nicer, fuller and more comfortable way. With any wipe, I never feel like I've quite got all the mascara off but I don't get this with the proper cleanser.
I would say these are useful to have around for nights away from home or the occasional lazy evening, but to be honest I find them less pleasant and more hard work than cleanser and cotton wool so it's very rare I use them. I personally think that a good skin care routine of cleanser, toner and moisturiser is better for the skin (although not the purse) and the wipes wouldn't be much good in the long run, especially if you wear makeup most days. But as wipes go, these are probably the best value you're going to get.
Boots Cucumber Cleansing Wipes come in packs of 25 currently priced at £1.50, and frequently on some kind of multi buy offer. I've bought a few packs over the last few years, yet the wipes have never really become part of my regular routine.
The pack is pale green plastic, with a peel-off resealable opening so the wipes don't dry out. I find the seal is reasonably effective, as long as you make sure it's closed properly - if you leave it slightly open, then air gets in and the wipes dry out.
The wipes themselves are very large, fully unfolded one is about the same length as my hand. They are quite thin and feel a bit insubstantial, but then I don't suppose they need to be strong, you're not like to be using them to really scrub your face. The fragrance is very light - it's not really identifiable as cucumber, although it is similar to other products in the cucumber range, but it is quite fresh and pleasant.
As far as cleansing goes, the wipes are adequate. I have used these in the morning on days when I haven't washed my hair - that sounds a bit daft I'm sure, but the reason is that if if I don't wash my hair I don't put my head under the shower and therefore I don't use face scrub while in the shower and need to clean my face at the sink. Anyway, I find them to cleanse well enough, but I suspect they wouldn't be so good if you were really grubby. The wipes are also not deep cleansing, they just wipe of surface dirt. As I don't wear make up I can't comment on whether they would remove it, but I don't think they'd do a very good job.
These wipes may not be heavy duty cleansing, but they are very refreshing, and that is part of what I look for in my morning face care - I want my skin to feel bright and refreshed, which these wipes achieve. Additionally, I've found that they're great in summer for freshening arm and neck skin in hot weather - a quick wipe of your arms and neck and you feel so much less sticky.
My face can be prone to dry skin, usually dependent on what products I am using. I've noticed no dryness when I've used these wipes, so as long as I apply moisturiser my skin seems happy with them.
The Boots Cucumber Cleansing Wipes are not deep cleansing and don't offer particularly thorough cleansing, but they are cheap and refreshing, so I'll continue to buy them from time to time.
I was in Boots the other day, stocking up on their hayfever tablets as I had really good luck with them and have decided to continue using them to keep my sneezes and itchy throat at bay. Browsing through the store, these cucumber wipes caught my eye and were an item I had remembered had good reviews on here. A pack of 25 wipes only costs £1.50 and I wanted some wipes as I was staying at a friends that night and didn't have any so they seemed a good idea!
- Packaging -
The wipes come in simple green plastic packaging with the Boots brand and the pack states it's for "they are cleansing wipes". The pack states the wipes contain aloe vera and vitamin E which are good for the skin and that these Boots Essentials Cucumber Wipes gently work to remove make-up and excess oils, leaving skin clean, soft and smooth
- The wipes -
The wipes are easy to remove from a resealable oval hole on the top of the pack. They come out really easily and one by one so they are easy to use. The wipes are an average size, not too small and are quite thick so to give a solid wipe all over and they don't tear easily. A pack contains 25 wipes which pretty much is the usual amount you get in a pack nowadays.
- My Experience -
The wipes are refreshing and lovely to use, but are a bit on the basic side and I cannot smell even a hint of cucumber! There is a mild aloe vera scent which comes off from the wipes but not a great deal so I can see why these are rather cheap and of the "essentials" (aka basic!) range.
I used these wipes after a night out when I crashed at a friends house and in terms of removing makeup, they seem to effectively remove my makeup easily and swiftly and I don't feel the need to harshly rub these wipes across my face to get my foundation and eye makeup off which is good!
In terms of a face wipe that does something for my skin though these wipes are also slightly disappointing as I don't feel as though they rejuvenate my face or improve my skin condition, but literally do the same job a flannel and some lukewarm soap and water could probable do! The wipes do leave my face feeling fresh and clean, but also rather dry and immediately after it is practically imperative that I use a face moisturiser!
- Overall -
So I do like these wipes, as they don't irritate and are great for taking off makeup and leaving my face clean and clear. However, in comparison to my tea tree wipes which I would usually use daily, they don't feel as though they are doing anything for my face so I have to knock off one star. For £1.50 I'd probably still recommend them though!
I decided to buy these Boots Essentials Cucumber Wipes when I saw them on special offer in store one day. One pack costs £2.03 but at the time they were on offer: 3 packs for £3.
These wipes come in a simple green pack and you get 25 in a pack. The green fits in with the rest of the cucumber range, which includes a cleanser and moisturiser. I haven't tried any of the items in the range other than the wipes.
These wipes contain cucumber extract which can help soften and soothe skin. They also contain aloe vera, which is soothing, and Vitamin E, which conditions skin. The wipes are designed to remove makeup and excess oils, leaving skin clean, soft and smooth. They are suitable for all skin types.
The wipes come in a standard 'wipes' pack with a pull-back plastic lid. They have a subtle cucumber smell which is fresh and pleasant. The wipes are white and smooth to the touch: they don't have any exfoliating properties (but don't claim to).
To use, you just rub a wipe gently over your skin. I find that the wipes are pretty good at removing most facial makeup - judging by the state of the wipe at least! - but struggle on eye makeup, particularly mascara. I wouldn't want to rely on these for that purpose. I find that very few facial wipes make my skin feel as clean as proper cleanser, but these wipes do a reasonable job.
My skin isn't irritated at all by the wipes and it doesn't feel too dry after use. It feels fairly refreshed and clean, as well as soothed and soft.
I tend to use the wipes after I get home from work and before I go to the gym. I use them to remove makeup so I don't sweat it all down myself during my workout. I then come home and shower and cleanse my face properly. I wouldn't want to use them every day as I don't think they would clean my face properly.
These wipes are good value on special offer and ideal for the purpose for which I use them. However I wouldn't buy them for everyday use and they are slightly pricey at full price - I know £2 isn't a lot but I can get a bottle of Simple cleanser for £3 which lasts ages.
I am always buying cleansing wipes because I use them so often for things such as removing my make-up, wiping my hands when I am out and I always have a pack in the car because they come in so handy. Of course I use them to clean my face too when I can't be bothered with my nightly beauty routine.
I don't have one particular brand that I always have to use as I think most of them do a good enough job at removing make-up and cleaning my face in a hurry. Some brands I try and stay clear of though as they don't agree with my skin.
The Boot's essentials are wipes that I sometimes buy not because they are amazing but because they are fairly decent and they are cheap so they do for the car glove box and for cleaning my hands when eating on the go and I do use them for cleaning my face but they aren't my first choice but I will use them if I have no others in the house.
The wipes are cheap at only £1.50 a pack in which you get 25 wipes. The pack is resalable and they are infused with essence of cucumber. I like cucumber in skin care products so this is a plus for me.
These wipes will clean my face and remove make-up but they aren't as good as some other brands at it. I find that I need to really be harsh with these to get my make-up off fully and I usually have to use at least two wipes to get it all off. My skin is left looking clean but they don't give me that deep down clean feeling that I get from some other wipes and sometimes after using them I still want to go and use a face wash to get my skin feeling really clean. They do an ok job of removing oil from my skin but they are slightly drying.
I mainly use these for in the car for wiping up spills and for cleaning my hands on the go and I like them for this as they do better at this than baby wipes do.
For cleaning my skin these would do in a pinch but they wouldn't be my first choice as they just don't feel as nice or get my skin as clean as some other brands. They do clean it and remove my make-up just not as well as I would like. They are a really good price though and sometimes that is the most important decision and at the end of the day they will clean your skin with just a little bit more effort than some others.
I've used these wipes for absolutely ages, and I always have at least 2 or 3 packs in my bedroom! Not only do I use them for facial cleansing, but also to take off my makeup.
Firstly, these wipes smell really nice and fresh. I don't know whether that's just because I'm weird and I love the smell of cucumber, but I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it too!
They are basically the same as any other makeup/cleansing wipe apart from the cucumber smell- they work absolutely fine for taking makeup off and they do it pretty easily. I only ever use one wipe each night when I take my eyeliner off.
Also, they leave your face feeling really clean and refreshed after giving it a wipe over, and I think this is also partly due to the cucumber smell!
I have found that sometimes, the first few wipes in the packet can feel a little dried out, making it more difficult to take your makeup off or to get the full cleansing feeling. But this is only a minor issue that has happened only a couple of times for me.
On the way to Spain a few months ago I was buying some bottled water in Boots at the airport and spotted these Boots Essentials Cucumber Cleansing Wipes for around £1.35 a pack which I thought was a reasonable price considering airside retail stores always seem to be somewhat dearer than landside.
The pack is a pleasant lime green colour and the wipes are easy to remove as is fairly usual with these types of cleansing wipes. I would say these are neither easier nor more difficult than other similar wipes. The plastic sticky seal is pretty reliable ensuring the wipes inside do not dry out when the pack is closed.
On first use, I noticed, as soon as I removed the first wipe from the pack a strong cucumber smell, not unpleasant, but I didn't find it exactly appealing either. It was more a chemical scent than a natural cucumber smell which was a little bit off-putting.
Using the wipe to remove my makeup I found that it took a lot more effort than other wipes I generally use. I've used various wipes ranging in cost from 2 packs for £1 from Primark and 1 pack for about £2.50. On a par with the cheapest ones I've used from Primark, I found these Boots wipes to be of a lesser quality. I found I had to work much harder to get the makeup off my skin and the wipe left my skin feeling dry and not as clean as I'd expect or want. Even using 2 separate wipes didn't make much difference.
Now considering these wipes are supposed to be enriched with cucumber, Aloe Vera and Vitamin and claim to be gentle cleansing wipes for removing make-up and excess oils, leaving one's skin clean, soft and smooth, I have to say from a personal point of view, that my skin didn't feel fully clean, or soft or even smooth. This was a bit of a disappointment as I do generally trust Boots' products.
So after trying 1 pack of these, sadly, I won't be buying again. I don't have problem skin and these are supposed to be for all skin types but I think it's probably more suited to oily skin as it does seem to dry my skin out. I've gone back to using my previous cleansing wipes which I'm far happier with.
These wipes are retailing at £1.50 for a pack of 25 at Boots (although I'm fairly sure I paid around £1.35 when I purchased at the airport just a couple of months ago). Online they can be purchased 3 for £3 via the Boots.com website.
Overall I'd rate these Boots Essentials Cucumber Cleansing Wipes as 2 out of 5 for performance. I won't be buying these particular wipes again, although I might try out the others wipes that Boots sell which don't contain cucumber.
NB: The pack warns to avoid direct contact with eyes and if this happens by accident to rinse thoroughly with water. The pack also warns to throw the wipe in the bin after use as opposed to flushing away.
I have been using various cleansing wipes for as far back as I can remember, I find them much more convenient to use than lotions and cotton wool. I'm always trying different brands and types of wipes although usually end up getting the cheaper ones or ones that are currently on offer.
The wipes come in a green pack with 25 wipes per pack. The Boots logo is displayed on the front top section of the pack with 'essentials' in blue letters at the side of it. Underneath it says 'cleansing wipes' and cucumber for all skin types. On the back of the pack it confirms that the product is created and developed by Boots, gives the ingredients and directions, gives a bit of information about the product and some contact information for Boots. In the middle of the front of the pack there is a clear plastic tab to lift up and remove the wipes.
To use simply pull the plastic tab and pull out the desired amount of wipes needed, then push back down to reseal the pack. This keeps the wipes fresh and prevents them from drying out. Gently use the wipe to sweep your face and neck, taking care to avoid direct contact with the eyes. (If this happens it advises you to rinse well with water immediately.) The wipes themselves are white in colour, compared to other wipes I have used they are quite thin but I suppose that's what you expect for the price. They have a really nice fresh cucumber smell, it is quite strong when you first take them out of the pack but I really like this as it makes my skin feel really refreshed. The wipes are enriched with soothing cucumber, aloe vera and vitamin E which help remove make up and excess oils. The wipes are available both in store and on line and retail at £1.50 and often have a 3 for £3 deal on (currently on offer)
The wipes smell lovely and fresh and leave my skin feeling soft and smooth, even though they are quite thin I would definitely recommend them as a good basic everyday wipe.
There is 25 wipes in each packet and the packet is of a pale green colour with a dark green text. The packaging is very simple with a peel away sticky middle section. The text on the back describes how to use the wipes which seems a bit unnecessary and tells us the wipes contain cucumber, aloe vera and vitamin E.
...My Experience Using it:...
First thing to note is I love the smell of these wipes. Honestly just sniffing the packet makes me feel cleaner. I basically use these wipes to remove make up and general grease and grime at the end of the day before I fall into bed. The wipes are effective and leave my skin feeling fresh and ever so slightly damp but in a pleasant way rather than a sticky way. The wipes work well and remove make up without requiring me to scrub and scrub at my face and eyes. It doesn't cause my skin to feel greasy and my skin still feels fresh and soft come the morning.
I tend to keep a packet of these wipes next to my bed and on in my handbag as its one of those products that's versatile enough to use in many situations, for example wiping your hands after eating something greasy.
One criticism of the product is that the wipes do tend to dry out once the packet is open within a few months, or less if you don't ensure you shut it and the stickyness of the seal does fade. I have on occasion found half used packets of these wipes in handbags that have dried up making them far less effective and pleasant to use.
...Value For Money:...
I am a big fan of all things boots and am an absolute sucker for anything on offer and these wipes were on offer at 3 for £3 (they are usually £1.49 a pack). These wipes are a cheaper alternative to other branded cleansing wipes although I think better than cheaper wipes for example many of the supermarket wipes which tend to have a really thin almost papery texture to them rather than the soft cloth like feeling the boots wipes have.
I've been using these wipes exclusively for about 4 years to take off the day's make-up and I will continue using them for a long time to come.
Each individual pack of 25 is £1.49, but I can't remember the last time I couldn't find them on the special deal 3 for £3 and of course because they're from Boots you can claim points on your advantage card. The offer also includes the original boots cleansing wipes (which come in a blue packet) but recently I've only been getting these green ones because I prefer the smell and always feel fresher afterwards. The smell is very similar to the rest of the Boots cucumber range which I love. Like I've said above, it smells very clean and fresh.
These wipes aren't overly thick, but I've never broken one by accident. I have tested to see how strong they are by ripping a hole in one and it was harder than I thought so I guess that's a plus.
I wear a lot of thick eye make-up, but no foundation and one wipe cleans it all off easily. I never have to use more than one, but with the first stroke a lot of the make-up is just rubbed around my face a bit rather than coming clean off. A bit of elbow grease gets it all off though. Occasionally I will use them while applying make-up before going out to clear up and mistakes and they also work perfectly for this.
They aren't particularly moisturising, but my face doesn't feel dry afterwards. They aren't fancy and don't pretend to do a lot of wonderful things to your skin, but they do clean make-up off. I would say if you have very oily skin you might want to invest in something more suitable for your skin type because I'm not sure I'd trust these wipes to get rid of excess grease or oil - just for taking off the day's make-up. I combine these wipes with a cleansing toner from Nivea and Boots vitamin E night cream and this combination works really well for me. I feel I need all 3 products as the wipes just aren't enough to do the whole job by themselves.
I have used some other wipes which dry out in minutes if you leave them out of the packet. These wipes stay moist for about half an hour or more. I also never have to worry about the last ones in the packet being dried out by the time I come to use them even if I don't put particular care into properly closing the packet.
Overall for the price these wipes are great. They remove make-up well and don't dry out quickly. They're not miracle wipes and won't do anything special except do the job they are meant to do. Everyone needs a pack of these on the shelf.
Previously I have been very keen on expensive beauty products which I buy from a local salon. However recently money has been a bit tighter and I've incorporated some cheaper products into my beauty routine to make my special, expensive products last longer. One of these products is Boots Essentials Cucumber Wipes. The wipes cost £1.49 for a pack of 24 but whenever I have seen them they've been on offer for 3 packs for £3 which is really good value.
The wipes come in plastic packaging with a re-usable sticky tab to keep the wipes fresh as most wipes do. I tend prefer the wipes packs that have a little solid plastic opener that clips shut as they tend to keep the wipes fresher. Having said that though as the packs only contain 25 wipes they only tend to last a couple of weeks in our house and in my experience have always stayed fresh and moist during that time.
Taking a wipe from the pack, they're nice and moist and feel very soft, there's also a lovely delicate and fresh cucumber scent to them. The wipes are a decent size, and I'd say just right for using on the face, they're fairly thick and feel very good quality. In use the wipes are very cooling and refreshing and are lovely to use when cooling down on a hot summer's day, although unfortunately we don't see many of them recently! I've found the wipes work well for general cleansing and feel lovely and soft on the skin. After use my skin does feel nourished and you can definitely tell that these wipes contain aloe vera and vitamin E.
I've found that these wipes are unfortunately not quite as effective when wearing make- up. A small amount of foundation isn't a problem; it's easily cleaned off but its eye- make up that's a problem. I don't wear heavy make-up just a little bit of mascara and eye liner but the wipes do hardly anything to remove it. I don't suffer from sensitive skin but I have found that around my eyes can tend to feel a bit sore after using these wipes as I have to rub quite hard to get the mascara off and even then I still end up with almost all the mascara staying on my eyelashes.
Although Boots Cucumber Wipes are a good price and work well if you're not wearing make- up, for make- up wearers the wipes aren't really suitable. I don't wear make- up very often, and when I do it tends to be just very light, this is why I continue to use these wipes. The wipes are lovely and refreshing and leave skin feeling soft and fresh, so you can get away with forgetting to moisturise. The softness and quality of the wipe itself is the same as much more expensive products. Although I can't recommend these wipes for heavy make-up users for anyone else they're lovely.
