Boots Cucumber Facial Wash

Advantages: cheap, works fairly well

Disadvantages: strips my skin ever so slightly

I bought the Boots cucumber facial wash primarily to take with me as a cheap cleanser for work trips away. I travel with work quite a lot, and I've lost count of the number of expensive cleansers I've left in hotel bathrooms when I've checked out. I'm really not a morning person at all, and I always get up at the last minute and then I'm rushing around to get ready, and pack, and check out on the last morning, so I invariably leave something behind, just lately it seems to be cleanser.

So I wanted something cheap, which I wouldn't mind so much if I ended up leaving it behind, but also something that would work and which wouldn't irritate my skin. I was stocking up on the Boots cucumber face wipes recently and I spotted that Boots do a whole range of the cucumber face products. I've never noticed them before simply because I just pick my face wipes and then head off to one of the premium cosmetic counters for my other products. All of the cucumber products from cleansers to moisturisers were really cheap - all were priced between £1.50 and £2.00. I picked up the face wash for just £1.52.

I was happy to give the Boots cucumber facial wash a go as I'm more than happy with the Boots cucumber face wipes. It is quite a small bottle at just 150ml, but hey it was only £1.52. It says that it is suitable for all skin types, and that it is dermatologically tested.

Overall I've been happy with this face wash, I wouldn't say that it's the best face wash in the world, it does have some negatives, but for the price it is actually OK.

It is a green transparent gel like liquid, and it smells exactly like the cucumber face wipes, it doesn't smell like cucumber as such, it is just a very fresh and uplifting fragrance. The fragrance is quite subtle, it's not too overpowering, and only a hint of the fragrance lingers on your skin for a little while.
To use the face wash I just squirt a blob of the green gel into my wet hands, lather it up into a foam, and then wash my face and neck with the pale green foamy lather. I do find that I need to use a much bigger blob of this to create enough foam and lather to adequately wash my face, than I would need to do with my more expensive cleansers. As a result of this it probably won't last all that long, mind you I'll probably leave it behind somewhere anyway!

It does work well, if you use enough of it, and it does remove all traces of my make up (apart from waterproof make up), and all the grime from my face. It does remove any greasiness as well, however I think that it does strip my face slightly as my face does feel slightly tight after washing it with this face wash. I basically have to apply my serum and moisturiser directly after washing my face. It does leave my face feeling nice and clean though. I find that so long as I moisturise straight away then I can get away with using this face wash for few days to a week. I do always switch back to one of my more expensive cleansers when I come home though.

I'm on my second tube of this face wash so far, as you've guessed it the first one was left behind! If I stop travelling so much with work then I will stop buying this as I do only use it when I go away. If you are on a budget though then this isn't a bad cleanser at all for the price.
