~Cucumber Moisturising Cream~
This moisturising cream is from the Boots Essentials range of skin care products. A matching facial wash, eye gel, scrub, toner and face mask is available in this range.
The Cucumber Moisturising Cream is formulated with vitamins, extracts of cucumber and antioxidants. It can be used as a day or night time moisturiser. Boots promise that this moisturiser will leave skin soothed and soft. It is suitable for all skin types.
This moisturising cream is presented in a small plastic pot with a green, screw top lid. The important product information is on the pot.
~Price and Availability~
Cucumber Moisturising Cream is available in one size - 100ml. It is available from www.boots.com and instore priced at just £1.50. This range is currently on a '3 for 2' offer.
I bought my pot of Cucumber Moisturising Cream whilst browsing the tiny Boots in the middle of my street. I like to try out new face creams to see what suits my skin best. I certainly wasn't attracted to this cream based on the appearance of it. The pot is very basic looking but secure and practical. I was intrigued by the price - 100ml for £1.50 seemed a great price and curiosity got the better of me. I opted for the cucumber cream over the fragrance-free cream as I like a light fragrance in a face cream.
The cream itself is pale green and very, very thick in appearance. It looks slightly glossy and moist. A pot isn't the most hygienic way to store a cream especially if it is being used daily. I always apply a cream after thoroughly washing my hands to avoid any germs breeding. Dipping my fingers in to the pot confirms that this cream feels thick too and is quite 'wet' feeling. It isn't drippy in the slightest but doesn't have a luxriously thick feel to it. I didn't expect that anyway given the cheap price.
I started off using this a face moisturiser when I had ran out of my usual cream. I prefer a rich face cream to moisturise my dry, sensitive skin but found that this moisturising cream for simply too thick for my skin. As I applied it to my skin, an instant cooling sensation was noticeable and left my skin feeling fresh and really comfortable. I tried to use just a small blob of cream per use and noticed that this cream didn't absorb very well and left my face looking very shiny and a bit sticky even though I tried to rub it in well. It wasn't practical for applying before make up. It was fine to apply at night time and let it absorb before bed.
My face (once the cream is absorbed) feels refreshed and a quite soft for a few hours but is no where near as moisturising as a more expensive face cream. It seems to sit on my skin for quite a while rather than absorb and allow my skin the full benefits of the ingredients. The cucumber scent is quite strong and whilst fresh I found it a little overbearing and sickly at first. It soon settles down and leaves my skin smelling fresh and slightly sweet.
I am in two minds about this moisturising cream. It was kind and soothing for my often irritated skin but it just didn't perform very well as an actual moisturiser for my overly dry skin. I found myself getting bored of waiting for it to absorb each morning so went on to use it as a body cream after a while and it suits this purpose more as it leaves my skin nicely smooth.
I don't think I would bother buying this again as it didn't suit my face very well but it is a bargain purchase and 100ml lasts really well if using sparingly. It just isn't really for me but it may suit others better.
Thanks for reading :)
