Advantages: cheap, ok smell, does the job
Disadvantages: leaves skin feeling a bit sticky
I invested in the Boots Essentials Cucumber range last year- as they are cheap and cheerful and just about the right size to pop into your luggage to take on your hols and then use up/ throw away whilst you are there.
I used the Essentials Cucumber Facial Cleaner first, rubbing into my skin using a circular motion and then removing with a cotton pad. After this, I used the Boots Essentials Cumber Facial Toner. I squeezed some of the toner on to a cotton pad, being careful not to over load it and also at the same time ensuring I have enough on there! I then wipe it across my skin to remove any excess dirt or cleanser that hasn't already been removed. I have found this process quite refreshing.
The toner is enriched with soothing cucumber and vitamins to gently refresh and tone the skin. It does have a subtle pleasant smell- I can't quite put my finger on it- possibly its the smell of cucumber although I didn't realise cumcumber had any smell!
After use, I have found a gentle tightening of the skin as the toner dries on the face- it is not unpleasant at all, although sometimes it does leave a slight sticky feeling. Thus in general, I am not a huge fan of following any cleanser/toner routine- I always like to have some fresh water on my face so it feels really truly clean.
At £1.42 (even after the VAT increase) for 150ml you can't really complain at the cost of it. If you are on a budget then definitely go for this. It doesn't look anything pretty in the bottle- you are not paying for the packaging- but it does the job for a reasonable price.
