“ Brand: Boots / Type: Cleanser / fragrance free: yes / What it does: Cleanses, Purifies / Product line: Boots No7 „
This is a review of a No7 beautifully balanced purifying cleanser which I recently purchased due to my normal cream cleanser (also from No7) getting low. I could see from the bottle that the green coloured contents were not my usual type of cleanser but I do like the No7 skincare range so I thought I'd give it a go.
What is it?
The bottle promises that this cleanser is ever so fresh and will cleans away impurities, excess oil and make up. The cooling and balancing gel is fragrance free, non drying and PH balanced.
The bottle is the usual slightly hourglass and tall shape holding 200ml of product. There is a click on lid which protects a pump top inside. You can also lock the pump top closed if you wish which is handy if you are taking the cleanser in a bag. The bottle is a bit pearlised but you can see through so you can see how much product (which is green) is left inside.
Following the directions, I massaged a couple of pumps in to my skin and wiped it off with cotton wool but you can also use warm water. It recommends using the toner from the range afterwards for the best results but I don't have this in my skincare armoury. I actually think that you need to use cotton wool and water if you are not using the toner as it left a sticky layer on my skin once I had finished wiping my face. I would add that it did remove all traces of make up and grime effectively.
I paid just 99p for my bottles of this cleanser from the local 99p shop. To be honest, I was surprised to see No7 being sold there and as there was only a few bottles left on the shelf I decided to get a couple in thinking it would probably be OK and would last me ages for a fraction of the price I would usually pay.
I wouldn't seek out buying this again as I was not a big fan of the gel and the sticky ending. I prefer the gentler properties of a cream cleanser so will buy this once I have worked my way through the two bottles of this that I bought. I can't fault its efficiency in removing make up though and my skin did not react adversely to the gel at all. I do think this was a range marketed more at problem or oily skin originally which I don't really have so would expect better results on this type of skin.
A brief look at the Boots website indicates that this product is actually unavailable to buy at the moment which gives a clue as to how I picked it up from the 99p shop. It is still available on ebay though if you wanted to try it but not for the bargain price I paid!
I love the No 7 range of cosmetics and skincare from boots especially as you can often obtain the £5.00 No7 vouchers to use against products which makes them great value. One product that I purchased some time ago but have only just began to use is the Beautifully Balanced purifying cleanser for oily/combination skin which mine certainly is.
This cleanser can only be purchased from Boots stores as it is one of their own brand products. It comes in a 200ml bottle and at the time that I made the purchase it was priced at £9.00, although I only paid £4.00 as I had one of the No7 vouchers to redeem against the purchase. This exact cleanser is no longer available to buy as No7 has recently revamped its ranges but I am sure something similar will have replaced it.
The cleanser comes in a pearlescent slightly transparent, tall plastic bottle allowing you to see the pale green coloured cleanser inside. The black and gold writing on the front of the bottle states that the cleanser 'cleans, refreshes and leaves skin shine free'. On the back of the bottle you can find more information on how the cleaners works as well as directions for use and ingredients listings. The bottle has a white pearlescent lid which can easily be pulled off to reveal a pump action dispenser which allows you to easily get the cleanser out of the bottle without even having to pick it up.
The cleanser as stated is a pale green colour and has a gel like consistency. The fragrance is very light and subtle and reminds me a little of cucumber. To use the cleanser it states to use cotton wool or your fingers to sweep a small amount over your face and then to wipe away or rinse off with some warm water and to follow with the matching toner. I personally use this cleanser in the evenings as I find it quick and easy to simply use with cotton wool as stated. I do not wear make-up so I cannot comment on how well it removes it but I find the cleanser feels light and cool on my skin. It also does not feel in any way greasy and the remainder it easily removed with the toner which I use after.
I personally have been very impressed with this cleanser, my skin tends to be very hard to keep looking smooth and clear and even at the age of 29 I am still prone to spots and have unsightly enlarged pores. I have been using the combination of the cleanser and toner every evening for the last two weeks and have had less spots and my pores appear smaller and my skin looks brighter. Even my husband commented only this evening that my skin is looking good which is certainly a first so it must be good.
Since using the cleanser I have not had any adverse reaction but the cleanser is fragrance free, ph balanced and is hypo-allergenic. My skin never feel tight or dried out after use and instead is left feeling clean and soft.
Overall I have been extremely happy with the performance of this cleanser, it does exactly what it states it will and I can only hope they have launched an equivalent which is as good or even better because if they have I will be certainly purchasing some!
I have not really used much Boots no 7 skin care before but as I was given a discount voucher I decided to give this a go and I am glad I did.
It's so unassuming, everyday and I have heard no buzz about 'cult products' but after having tried a million and one cleansers across a plethora of brands and prices this is one of my favourites.
Its unassuming simplicity is its greatest strength, it does what it says and it does it very well! Application is a breeze, I just massage it in with my finger tips and remove with a cotton wool pad, though you can wash off if you like. It removes make up, dirt, grease and all sorts of gross grime that gets into your skin quickly and easily and without drying your skin out.
I have used this on waterproof mascara and it has worked well, and it doesn't sting the eyes!
Now, excuse me for this forray into the disgusting, but this stuff really works. Having lent it to my sister on a visit she exclaimed in a mixture of amazement and disgust 'I can't believe that came off my forehead!' showing me the cotton wool pad she'd just used full of whatever disgusting things get into your skin after a day commuting on the tube. This stuff works, yes the resultant cotton wool pads can be gross out material but it's out of your skin!
I still suffer blackheads but they are not as bad as they used to be, and quite frankly nothing short of an industrial chemical peel will remove the stubborn ones, but this stuff gets most of the gross goop out of my pores and doesn't leave my skin dried up and tight feeling. The product is halfway between a lotion and a gel, it's very cooling on the skin and very easy to apply and wipe off.
I will definitely be using this again and am tempted to try more products in the same range as I have been so impressed! This makes a change from the usual disappointments in a nice bottle that litter my bathroom, it might not be a 'cool' brand but it works wonders!
This cleanser is a pale green gel, which you massage into damp skin and either wash off or wipe away with cotton wool. It is for oily/combination skin. The product is dispensed through a pump. It currently costs £8 for 200ml from Boots, but it is often on 3 for 2 - making it good value.
===Why I Bought It===
I've been using this cleanser for a few years now. I keep buying it because I really like it and think it does a good job! I originally bought the cleanser with a £5 No7 voucher, which made it amazing value. I've got combination skin, so this cleanser was ideal for my skin type.
I use this cleanser in the shower every morning. I only need a couple of pumps of the cleanser for enough to massage over my face and neck. I really like the smooth texture of the gel. I massage it especially into my nose and forehead where my skin tends to be most greasy. It easily gets rid of the grease, leaving my skin smooth and shine free. It is also hypoallergenic, so it's good for sensitive skin - which mine can be some time.
I think that the price at £8 is OK - it's a bit more than I'd like to pay, but one bottle does last a long time. And if you get in on 3 for 2 it is pretty good value.
On the downside, I've found the pump dispenser means that you can't get the last bit of cleanser out of the bottle.
I would definitely recommend this cleanser if you have oily/combination skin, because it leaves your skin feeling smooth and fully cleansed.
I am going to start by saying that I ADORE this product. It is my holy grail cleanser and I never want to stop using it. I bought this using the £5 No.7 vouchers but I would pay the full £7.50 for it, without a doubt. You get a whole 200ml which lasts a very long time as you don't use much product for each cleanse. I have had this for around 4 months and have used it everyday, twice a day.
I have very oily, blemished skin. Since using this I can honestly say that my skin has improved considerably. It comes in a bluish clear gel and it feels so gentle and kind to my skin. I feel like it just syncs with my skin to cleanse perfectly. It feels cooling to apply so is good for use in the summer and it is fragrance free, hypo-allergenic and dermatologically tested.
You can apply this product to your face using a cotton wool pad, but I found it to be most effective when applying with my fingers. It's gel-like texture means it is easy to spread around your face, and also therefore easy to remove.
It doesn't leave my skin tight, like many cleansers for oily skin do. It doesn't dry out my skin or leave it shiny. It looks matte and feels fresh and clean. It removes all traces of make-up.
The packaging is sturdy and pretty, like most of the No.7 range. It is a large bottle with a pump that has always worked well for me. It dispenses a good amount of product each time.
This is definately worth a go if you have oily or combination skin. I think it would also be suitable for sensitive skin as it feels so gentle. I would be very interested in using the range as I feel that used together they would do a fantastic job.
I have been using No 7 Beautifully Balanced Purifying Cleanser for around 6 months, as part of a skin care regime prescribed to me by a No 7 beauty expert in my local Boots. The product comes in an tall frosted plastic container with a pearlescent self coloured plastic lid, adorned with the gold lettering of the No 7 brand. It costs £7.50 for a 200ml container and is widely available from Boots stores, or online.
The product is a gel based cleanser which claims to be gentle, cooling, non-drying and restorative to the PH balance in the skin. It is fragrance free, hypo-allergenic and dermatologically tested.
I have found the most effective way to use the product is to dampen the skin with tepid water, then using one pump dispensed from the pump applicator, massage the cleansing gel in to the skin using finger tips - or a face brush / sponge / cotton pad. Once you have massaged in to the skin rinse using tepid water again. Owing to the gel like texture, it is non-messy and application is easy, as is removal. However, remove any remaining traces by following up with a toner.
The product claims to be cooling - any product which claims to be cooling tends to be tingly, and therefore quite harsh. This product doesn't tingle or harm your skin, but it does leave it feeling nice and refreshed. I have combination skin and it does seem to slightly dry the greasy areas and nourish the dry areas - but not over dry, or over moisturise! It is comforting and does prevent against breakouts of spots without stripping the skin of it's own essential oils. My skin has been largely blemish free since I have been using it and although I have had a few spots I am confident they haven't been as a result of my skin regime.
The product removes eye make up well, including waterproof mascara. As a little tip, add two pumps neat to a cotton pad and sweep over the eyes and discard, this accelerates it's removal properties and it is incredibly gently for the delicate eye area.
I think that this is excellent value, I use it twice a day every day (ok I'm no saint, I do miss from time to time) and I have been religiously using it for the past 6 months, I have used two bottles of the product in that time - and have about quarter of the second bottle left, so I would estimate it lasts around 3-4 months per bottle. At £7.50 that's not bad, and it removes the need to waste money on a separate cleanser and make up remover. I would definitely recommend it, and I think it is suitable for all skin types owing to the gentle-ness and ph-Balancing technology.
Feel free to read this in conjunction with my other No 7 reviews to read about my complete skin care regime xx
Due to the £5 voucher offer at Boots where you get £5 off No 7 products or other selected ranges I have been able to take advantage of trying new products for a bargain price whilst still earning Boot points! I have always cleansed and moisturised though I must admit to being a little hit and miss with using a toner.
With a voucher I purchased a cleanser from the No 7 range. The plastic tub contains 200ml of the pale green product and is easily identifiable by the No 7 branding of the gold lettering on the white background. The shape of the tub is curved - circular at the base and oblong at the top and this makes a nicely shaped container. The lid simply pulls off to reveal the pump action dispenser.
There are instructions on the tub which advise to use the product either with cotton wool or the tips of your fingers. I have always used this with cotton wool. I pump 3 squirts of the cleanser onto a cotton wool pad and then proceed to use a gentle circular motion on my face and neck. I repeat as necessary with new pads and cleanser and finally use a warm damp cotton wool pad to wash away.
The cleanser has a good consistency as it is not runny and holds together well on the cotton wool pad. Although this is a gel it does not feel greasy. The container advises that this is a 'cooling gel' and I found it felt refreshingly cool once applied. The gel also advises it is fragrance free and hypo-allergenic. I could detect no aroma to this.
I find this product is a very effective cleanser, easily removing my foundation and blusher and leaving me confident that I have thoroughly cleansed my skin. The container also advises it leaves skin shine free and I certainly felt I had a more even, matt skin tone once I had used this.
This is a product which I feel works very well. It also lasts a long time which means that although it weighs in at a hefty £7.50 (approximately) a bottle I am probably getting 2 months of use out of it before needing to purchase any more. This product advises it is for oily combination skin. The ingredients are all listed on the container.
Boots are often giving away vouchers that offer £5 off the No.7 range and as like many of you I'm sure, I am not one to miss out on a bargain. Many of the products in the No.7 range are well over £10 therefore I always keep a lookout for the cheapest item I can buy so that I'm getting something for next to nothing.
I usually redeem these voucher off No.7 face wipes as they only cost £6.50 but I started to get quite a stock of these so decided to try something else and got N0.7 Beautifully Balanced Purifying Cleanser. This cost about £8.50, I am unsure of the exact price so with the voucher it only cost £3.50, a bargain for something from the No.7 range.
The Purifying Cleanser is for Oily / Combination skin and it cleans, refreshes and leaves skin shine free. It is fragrance free, non-drying and pH balanced. It cleans away excess oil, purifies pores and leaves skin feeling clean.
I really like this product, as a rule I prefer to use face wipes but this cleanser is just as good. It takes off all your make up, including eye make up. You can visably see all the dirt on the cotton ball, surely a sign it is cleaning your skin. I find it leaves skin feeling clean and fresh.
It says you should use either cotton wool or your fingers to sweep a small amount over your skin and wipe off or wash away with warm water.
It comes in a 200ml bottle and this really does last ages. It also recommends that for best results you use No.7 toner, I think I will have to buy this as I really love the cleanser.
Overall a great product that does what it says on the tin, if anything a little expensive at full price but keep a lookout for those vouchers.
Having never used any Boots No7 products before i was slightly dubious. They are more expensive than own brand but i can be a bit of a cosmetic snob and equally didnt put their skincare and makeup in the premium bracket. Having used Simple cleanser and toner for several months and it not clearing up my skin (although the moisturiser is great) i decided to give this a go on recommendation from a friend. She has lots of the No 7 range (the protect and perfect) and used to work in a store.
I decided on the Beatifully Balanced purifying cleanser as i have combination to oily skin which is prone to breakouts, using it with the matching toner (review to follow), and ive been completely surprised by how good this is!
I have been using this for maybe a month now and my skin has cleared up about 80%. It comes in a 200ml bottle (i am just over half way through) and it has a pump dispenser which is great for a controlled, hygenic application. As other reviewers have said i do find i need to use quite a lot to clean my skin (but i do wear a lot of makeup), i use 6 pumps of cleanser on half of my face then 6 pumps on the other, then 3 pumps for each eye. I probably use too much but dont want the cotton wool dragging on my skin. I use this routine at night, in the mornings i maybe use 2-3 pumps and just cleanse my eyelids for freshness, and wipe my face with the toner.
It says on the bottle you can wash it off but i dont like my hair getting wet at all so just use cotton wool, followed by the toner. The cleanser is gel like in texture which i really like, and it feels really cool on the skin. It does dry your skin out somewhat but then thats what im after.
All in all ive been very impressed with this. I think it cost me £8 for the bottle which whilst expensive you do get 200ml and it works! I will definately be buying another bottle when this runs out which is the true test of a product for me.
I think Boots have a 3 for 2 deal on at the moment so its a great time to try their products out.
I prefer to use cleansers with cotton wool that absorb into your skin rather than foaming cleanser face washes, I usually prefer to use this on a morning, and wash my face with a scrub on the evening. The reason being is before I apply my make-up on a morning I don't want it to look as if it's been dried out by a face wash, and a good cleanser can help asborb excess oil whilst leaving the skin smooth.
I bought this cleanser in Boots when they were doing one of their many £5 vouchers. Basically you got a voucher from the till when you spent at least £5 in Boots, this voucher entitled you to £5 off No7 or Ruby & Millie. You can tell when this voucher is running as the No7 counter is usually very busy!
I had recently ran out of my cleanser so I decided to give this one a go. It costs £7.30 so with my voucher I only paid £2.30.
No7 Beautifully Balanced cleanser is aimed at Oily/Combination skins. It comes in a large plastic bottle with a pump hidden underneath the lid. No7 do other cleansers aimed at other skin types and are different colours, this particular one is a pale green colour. The first thing to notice about is bottle is it is quite big, and it contains 200ml of cleanser.
The bottle states this cleanser will cleanse away impurities and make-up and help your skin stay healthy with this cooling and balancing gel. It claims to sweep away excess oil, clean the pores and soften the skin leaving it looking matte. It is fragrance-free, non-drying and hypo-allergenic.
Using this gel is easy, simply press down the pump onto your cotton wool pad. Only a small amount comes out at a time so I usually end up pressing the pump 4 or 5 times. When applying this to my face I immediately feel it's cooling side to it. It's a soft gel cleanser which wipes across the face easy and does feel very cooling, certainly helps me wake up on a morning!
It's absorbed into the skin easily and doesn't leave it feeling greasy, and there isn't any cleanser left behind. My skin feels nice and soft and not at all oily. It does do a great job.
You can also apply this toner and wash it away with warm water, I don't prefer to do this, I use a toner instead which leaves my skin feeling more refreshed. I don't think I could use this cleanser then go straight onto moisturising as this gel is thick so it does feel like it's clogging up your face, although this isn't noticeable and is probably me just being paranoid.
I personally prefer a more milky cleanser though, this cleanser is a gel and I can't quite put my finger on why I don't prefer it as much. That is my own opinion though, and it really does do a good job.
Overall this is a good cleanser for people with oily.combination skin. It removes excess oils, leaves the skin feeling soft and doesn't dry it out. I would follow up with a toner, the No7 Beautifully Balanced range also has a toner in the same design bottle, or of course you can use your own preferred brand.
I recently had a £5 voucher redeemable on Boots No. 7 products which Boots were giving away when you spent money in store. Having never really bought much from the Boots No.7 range I wasn't sure what to spend it on but I needed some new cleanser so I thought I would give this product a try.
It is called Beautifully Balanced Purifying Cleanser and it is for oily and combination skin. Boots claim that it "sweeps away excess oil, purifies pores and softens your skin to leave it feeling clean and matte."
It comes in a 200ml bottle with a lift off cap and a pump dispenser. It is quite a simple but classy bottle with no pictures just some writing. The bottle has a pale green shimmery colour to it. I like the pump dispenser it allows you to dispense exactly the right amount of cleanser you want not like some which pour out too much at a time. The only thing I don't like about the bottle is that it is too tall to fit in my bathroom cabinet so I have to keep it in my cabinet under the sink. The cleanser itself is a pale green colour and is a gel consistency. It is fragrance free, pH balanced and hypo-allergenic.
Directions for use - You can use cotton wool to "sweep" the cleanser over your face and neck and then simply wipe off or you can wash it off with some warm water. Instead of cotton wool you can use your fingers and then wash off with water. My preferred method is to use cotton wool, wipe it over my face and then use the reverse side of the cotton wool to remove any excess. If you have been wearing foundation you may have to repeat the process a few times to ensure you remove it all.
I really like this product. The gel has a lovely cooling sensation when you use it on your skin. It lifts away the dirt quite easily, you can see the evidence on the cotton wool. The thing I really like about this product is the way your skin feels afterwards. It feels clean and soft and there is no trace of the cleanser left on your face. Some cleansers I've used leave your skin feeling a bit shiny or greasy but this one doesn't mainly because it's a gel rather than a cream.
It costs £7.50 and is available only from Boots. Although it is more expensive than some cleansers it is good value for a more upmarket brand and obviously for me getting £5 off made it a real bargain. It pays to look out for special offers, they often do a 3 for the price of 2 and you can choose from a range of the No. 7 products. Right now they are giving away a cosmetic bag packed with goodies if you spend £20. Maybe its time to stock up on some products or do a little Christmas shopping!
No.7 Beautifully Balanced Purifying Cleanser, 200ml
£7.50 (which will earn you 28 advantage card points worth 28p)
I'm not usually one for using those cleansers that you use cotton wool pads to apply as they never seem to make my skin feel completely clean.
During the summer my skin can get quite oily and if I'm feeling a bit run down I can be prone to breakouts,
So off I popped to my local Boots store where the consultants are used to hearing me rant about my crappy skin!
They recommended this cleanser as apparently it's 'great for deep down cleansing without adding excess oil', or something like that.
Anyway, I used it alongside my usual products and it did help clear my skin a bit, I also noticed that my skin didn't tend to get shiny as much as it did before I started to use the cleanser.
The product comes in a tall, pale green shimmery bottle in the same style as the rest of the No7 range along with the standard pump dispenser. The produst is a clear gel which you apply to the face and neck using either cotton wool pads or your fingers, then wipe off or wash away with warm water.
It is a soft gel but as it is quite thick it doesn't blend that well in to the skin so you have to use a lot more than usual (I used 2-3 times more than I have done with some other cleansers).
When applying it it feels slightly like a face mask as it is quite heavy on the face and when taking it off I found it best to use cotton wool pads as it can be quite drying to the face and water seems to empathise it.
My skin feels slightly dry and tight straight after using this but it also feels really clean and seems to turn a lot softer than it usually does after applying my usual miosturiser.
All in all...
Not that nice to use but it really does help stop oily and shiny skin and will reduce breakouts if used continuously.
I don't think I would recommend it if you have quite sensitive skin though, as if it makes my skin feel a bit dry and tight after use it may irritate more sensitive skin.
If you like the sound of it get in quick as boots are giving away their famous 'No 7 goody bags' when you spend over £20 on No7 items, and don't forget your advantage card as the points you make are the equivalent of a 4% discount.
And unlike most other beauty/cosmetics companies, if you are at all unhappy with any No7 product you can return it for a full refund, as long as you have your reciept.
Ever so fresh / cleanse away impurities and make-up and help your skin stay healthy with this cooling and balancing gel / Non-drying and pH balanced, it sweeps away excess oil, helps to purify pores and softens your skin to leave it feeling clean and matte / Zinc and seaweed extract help control and balance excess skin oil while vitamins A and E moisturise where needed / Fragrance free /
