Advantages: Everything!
Disadvantages: May not be exfoliating enough for some people
I always use a face wash in the bath or shower and wouldn't dream of using soap or anything. However of late I have noticed that my skin in places (particularly around my jawline) has been quite dry and flaky and I've had a few more spots than normal due to being under the weather and the weather lol.
I knew I needed something a bit abrasive to give my skin a deep down clean once or twice a week that wasn't too harsh to help polish my skin up and clean out deeply some of my pores. I very much have combination skin on my face. I have an oily t-zone, spots, blackheads, whiteheads and generally congested, large pores as well faint wrinkles and crows feet that start to creep up on the majority of us when we hit out mid 30's! lol.
I am a huge fan of Boots and I adore trying out No7 products. I find they are very classy and usually work brilliantly at excellent prices for what they are. I took the advice of a shop assistant with this product after discussing products available I felt this was most suited to my needs.
The Packaging....
75ml white, slightly frosted tube with flip top opening lid concealing a small hole at the bottom of the tube. On the front I'm told it is No7, Radiance Revealed, Exfoliator suitable for all skin types for 'bright beautiful skin' and at the bottom of the tube I'm told it is Hypo-Allergenic. On the back of the tube I'm told a bit about the product, directions for use are given, ingredients are listed, contact details for Boots are stated, size and the recycle symbol are displayed. Finally there is a bar-code on there. This is a very simple, neat, fuss free and fairly classy but basic looking tube. It's functional and sturdy and low key and I love the fact I can see the exfoliator through the tube so I can see when it needs replacing (if desired).
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Tube....
Sweep away impurities, wave goodbye to dullness and reveal a brighter, more beautiful you. This light and gentle exfoliator deeply cleanses, helps promotes cell renewal and refines pores, leaving skin soft, smooth, energised and glowing with health.
Fragrance free, with purifying grapefruit and watercress, plus hydrating pro vitamin B5.
Directions For Use....
Once or twice a week, gently massage a small amount into cleansed, damp skin, avoiding the delicate eye area. Wash away thoroughly with warm water.
My Experience Using It....
This is such a simple product to use and it's up to you really how often you use it or whether you use it on it's own or after a face wash or something. It's low abrasive and I use this every day after using a No7 face wash and have found it to not harm my skin but keep me radiant and with blemish free skin! Of course if you want to you can use it one or twice a week or when you feel you need it but me I prefer to use it every day as it really is mild and gentle and makes my skin feel clean so if I don't use it I actually miss it!
All you need is about the size of a penny piece of this very light green, creamy lotion to rub over a damp or wet face and/or neck. It feels like a lotion, it isn't greasy although it is slightly glossy in appearance and it has body to it meaning it isn't drippy or runny so it's easy to handle. It has lots and lots of tiny, slightly rough feeling particles you can feel on say dry fingertips and that's the exfoliating particles, though it doesn't feel rough on the face and/or neck.
I wet my face and massage this in as hard or gentle as I want to. As I have said it has no smell to it, it doesn't lather up and it's actually very soft and gently on and to the skin. You can feel the exfoliation going on but it's not uncomfortable or harsh and I feel happy to use this on all of my face including my lips and around my eyes. It really doesn't hurt or give me any irritation in any way shape or form either when using it or afterwards.
It rinses off simply leaving no tell tale signs it's been used at all (like redness or faint scratches or anything) and it doesn't leave skin feeling tight or too dry or greasy after either. It simply but effectively removes grease and grime, gives pores a gentle clean and leaves face and neck looking clean, awakened, soft and smooth.
Overall....
This to me is more of an every day exfoliator. If you have fairly good, well behaved skin in the first place then use this once or twice a week (as directed). If like me you have naughty skin then use it more often till skin starts behaving then lower the amount of times you use it or simply use something stronger than this. Personally I like the ease of use and the fact that it does a gentle job and speaks up for itself in a quiet way. It works without a song and a dance!
Since using this product my dry skin has gone, my skin is clear of blemishes and my skin appears smoother and to the touch it definitely feels smoother. I really like it and think it's worth it's £4.00 price tag and it does last ages.
Only available from Boots and recommended from me for any person of any age particularly to young people to start off with or for people with sensitive skin!
Summary: An exfoliator suitable for any skin type!
