“ Brand: Boots / Type: Facial Serum / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / Product line: Boots No7 „
I have been a fan of Boots No7 skincare products for quite some time but had lately tended to stick to the protect and perfect range. You may remember the stampede to get the original protect & perfect serum after it was voted a product that actually was scientifically proven to work and voted a favourite of magazines and in the know beauty boffins.
I do tend to switch my skincare every six months or so as I am a great believer in your skin getting used to a product so much that it no longer performs to its maximum effect.
I therefore tried the Illuminate range including day cream, night cream and the product I am reviewing here, the Luminate Radiance Serum.
The cream comes in a 30ml recyclable tube with a screw top lid that reveals a small noozle. The serum itself is white and light.
The serum glides onto your skin really well and is very smooth and silky in texture and is easily absorbed with a gentle massage leaving a faint shimmer on your skin. The instructions tell you to use small upward circles over you face and neck and you should avoid direct contact with the eyes. You are advised to follow this up with the corresponding day/night cream which I do although I don't prefer those to the protect & perfect range but that can be discussed in another review perhaps.
The claims are that this serum will give your skin an instant boost of radiance and in about 4 weeks your skin should look brighter and the appearance of wrinkles should be reduced. The hope is that your skin will look more luminous, healthy and younger looking.
The product is hypo-allergenic and therefore suitable for sensitive skins.
After using this product for a couple of months now I have noticed an improvement to my skintone overall - my skin does look fresher and slightly brighter but the effects aren't as obvious as I would have hoped for in terms of radiance but it does seem to have helped reduce the small lines I have somewhat so this is definitely a plus.
I think you need to make sure you use this product regularly, twice a day and in conjunction with the other products to make the most out of it and I am one who sometimes forgets to use it and I do feel this probably affects the results I get. However, the instant result is there in that the skin looks brighter, fresher and a little shimmery and together with a moisturser the skin feels well hydrated and is a good base for make up.
The tube costs around £18 so it's not particularly cheap but you only need to use a small amount of product at a time. I wouldn't say this is as good as the protect & protect range but it is nevertheless a nice product that gives more of a luminous effect on application.
