I have long been a fan of No7 Skincare products and purchased this face exfoliator in my recent splurge where the products were on a 3 for 2 promotion. This would normally cost £11.50 and it's worth every penny!
The packaging is pretty bland and simple and could maybe do with a bit of something to stop it looking like a value product but hey ho. It is simple black and white with minimal lettering. It is part of the Total Renewal range and is called a micro dermabrasion exfoliator. This appealed to me as I have acne scarring and have long looked into dermabrasion and saw this as the next best thing (without the pain and price tag!) you get 75ml of product and as only a small amount is needed once or twice a week this should last a good few months.
The bottle is designed to be stored upside down (on it's lid) this makes it easy to squeeze the product out without the need for vigorous shaking. The exfoliator is white in colour and creamy, with a subtle scent. You can't really feel any grains until you rub it onto your skin and then it feels very very fine, sort of sugary. It in no way scratches or hurts your skin.
After use my skin feels silky soft and looks plump and glowing.
I use this once a week and have had no adverse reactions.
Microdermabrasion is really just a form of deep exfoliation. You apply tiny micro-crystals to buff away the dull cells from the top layer of skin. This stimulates the production of fresh collagen and cells. Sounds like a fancy scrub to me.
Anyway the Boots Total Renewal Micro-dermabrasion Face Exfoliator promises to make you instantly younger. Now that's quite a claim! According to the Boots website, you can expect to see an incredible radiance from the first time you use it. After 4 treatments, fine lines will be reduced, skin tone evened and the skin will feel softer. It helps to improve the appearance of dark areas, sun damaged or blemished skin but should not be used on sore skin.

1. Dot onto clean damp skin avoiding the sensitive eye area.

3. Rinse off and then moisturise as usual
You shouldn't use this product for longer than 2 minutes at a timeand only use twice a week.
The exfoliator comes in a 75ml tube and costs £11.00. However, I've managed to get small sample tubes with various Boots No 7 free gifts that you sometimes get when you buy No 7 products. These have lasted me ages but when I run out I will definitely buy this scrub. It's brilliant!
I only use it once a week. I normally apply the exfoliator every Sunday before my morning shower. That way it's become a part of my beauty routine. However over the Christmas period, my routine went to pot and I missed a few weeks. I remembered this past weekend and gave my face a really deep clean. I took special care to spread the exfoliator all over my face and really worked at massaging it into my skin. I then washed it off in the shower and finished it with my usual No 7 serum and moisturiser.
My skin did feel polished afterwards; soft and smooth but it was later in the day when I really noticed the effects. I had one of those rare moments when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and was actually pleased with what I saw! My skin did look radiant and yes, I have to say, younger. What a result! My first reaction was that mixture of supplements and potions must be working but then I remembered the scrub. Without a doubt it was the Boots exfoliator that had worked its magic.
I have always liked this product and the benefits of exfoliation are well documented. Clearly my skin was looking dull and tired after the excesses of Christmas, so a really thorough application had a dramatic effect on this occasion. I don't normally take so much care but will from now on!
No prize then, for guessing that this product comes highly recommended. It absolutely deserves 5 stars.
I have been having real problems with spots breaking out in my skin and also have been noticing that it looks really dull and boring looking. I decided to buy this as a kind of impulse buy when I was in Boots, after reading the box and instructions, I thought I might as well give it a go to help give my skin a more healthy, clearer glow.
What Is It?
This is a scrub, it is used on my face and should only be used up to 3 times a week. When I squeeze this cream onto my fingers, it feels quite sandy, it is white and not too thick in consistency.
When I apply this onto my skin, it feels quite rough, though not uncomfortable. I checked in the instructions in the box and they told me to apply this scrub in 4 steps, they were:
1.) Apply to the forehead and use your fingertips to exfoliate it out and upwards to your hair line.
2.) Then apply to your cheeks and exfoliate upwards to your temples.
3.) Apply to your nose and chin and scrub downwards.
4.) Rinse throughly.
This is quite a good strong treatment for your skin so it is important to moisturise after use, preferably with an SPF 15+ moisturiser.
What I Thought
I really like the feeling of this scrub on my face and whenever I have finished applying it and rinsed it off, my skin looks and feels much healthier and cleaner.
I have been using this with the hopes that my acne would clear up and I would say that I can see noticeable results after about 3 months of using. I also have found that my skin looks more fresh and less dull.
This cream doesn't really have much of a scent to it, it kind of reminds me of sun cream, but smells nowhere near as strong. This is actually quite a good thing, as sometimes when scrubs and other facial products are heavily scented, it can cause me to have a sore head and sicken me.
This cream is hypo-allergenic and I haven't had any allergic reactions to it and haven't even experienced redness or irritation.
Price and Availability
I bought this cream for £11 in Boots, however I had a skincare voucher that gave me money off, so it is best to keep an eye out for different deals in store to get it a little cheaper. I think that £11 is quite a good price for this cream as it has lasted me ages, it only takes a little bit at a time to give great results.
I think that this is a great exfoliate. It makes my skin look more healthy and fresh and also helps clean the top layer of skin cells and gives my skin a deeper clean than just soap and water. Overall I would give this scrub 5 out of 5 stars.

Boots No7 Total Renewal Micro Dermabrasion Exfoliator
I received a small tube of this No 7 exfoliator cream in a big No 7 set one Christmas and only came to use it recently with me trying to use up all my stock of beauty lotions and serums. Generally most No 7 products I have tried I like but only really buy them when I have a voucher or they are on offer in Boots.
Total Renewal Micro Dermabrasion Exfoliator
My exfoliator cream is out of a set and so only has a small amount of cream compared to the regular one - 25 ml, I believe the full size version that you buy in Boots has 75 ml. The exfoliator cream comes in the typical No 7 branded packaging which is a creamy/pearl coloured tube. The tube is made of a flexible plastic that is triangular shaped with a screw on and off cap. The gold No 7 branding is clearly written across the front of the tube and the back of the product has a brief product description.
Boots No 7 state that this exfoliator cream gives you instantly younger, fresher and clearer looking skin. The cream contains micro-dermabrasion particles that are intended to exfoliate and remove the outermost layer of dead skin on your face and neck. This particular exfoliator uses aluminium-oxide micro-crystals. Apparently within 4 uses this cream stimulates skin cell renewal to work against fine lines, the appearance of dark areas and sun damaged or blemish affected skin.
The cream itself is a white colour and quite thin compared to other exfoliators that I have used before. It has not got much of a scent to it, just a creamy rich hint of smell. When you put the cream on your fingers you can immediately feel the little exfoliator grains in the cream that are light and slightly rough feeling. Again these are a lot smaller than other brands of cream that I have used, but just as effective.
To use this cream you dab little bits of it around your face and massage into your skin. I tend to use this when I am in the bath and have just rinsed my face; I find the cream goes a lot further with a fresh dash of water on your skin. When you are massaging the cream into your skin you can feel the little crystals cleaning your face and exfoliating your pores flawlessly. Once I have massaged for a good few minutes and my skin feels nice and clean I rinse the cream off my face using a good few splashes of water to get all the crystal grains off. I then use a nice moisturiser to finish off my skin.
After using this exfoliator my skin feels lovely and fresh as well as being extremely clean, smooth and free from impurities. It gives your face a lovely rejuvenated feeling and appearance without being too harsh. It is not recommended to use this product more than twice a week and I only use mine once a week, this is because it can leave your skin vulnerable, especially to UV rays. However I don't feel that I need to use this more often than I do because it is very effective and has long lasting results.
A complete tube of 75 ml cream costs £11 at full price in Boots which is quite good value considering you only need to use a little of this product at a time, it is also often on special 3 for 2 offers which makes it even better value. A lovely scrub!
I bought this product on a bit of a whim when there was a 3 for 2 offer and used it as my free one. I had no expectations as had not previously used a facial exfoliator before this one, but I'm so glad I bought it.
It comes in a squeezy tube, in the standard plain No 7 packaging. This is good because it means you can get every last drop out of it! My first tube lasted about a year as you get a lot of product for your money, and you only need to use a teeny bit at a time (about the size of a 5p piece). The cream itself is white and you can feel the gritty bits in it. I haven't noticed it being particularly fragranced at all.
The exfoliator comes with explicit instructions on how to use, and I followed these precisely and started noticing a difference in my skin after the first few uses. Initially you are supposed to use it twice a week, and not to leave it on the skin for more than 2 minutes (which does worry me a bit as it makes me wonder just how abrasive or stripping it is!). I have now been using it for about 18 months, and after the first few months of using as per the instructions I now only use it about once every two weeks - And it is very easy to tell when it needs doing again as your skin just feels like it needs it.
The smoothness of my skin after using this is quite simply unbelievable, and better than I would ever expect from a skin care product. My skin looks glowing, fresh, smooth and blemish free. I have dry and sometimes sensitive skin, and have not had any problems with this product. However for someone with very sensitive skin I'm not sure if it would be suitable as I can imagine it might cause soreness and increase redness.
I have had problem skin growing up and have recently got a hold on managing breakouts. I have a few scars across my cheeks that need to be covered by makeup. Being in my early 20s I was researching ways to treat my skin or products that would reduce the appearance of scars. I was looking at premium micro dermabrasion kits when I came across boots own brand exfoliator. I had a £5 off no7 voucher so I though why not. The product promises younger looking skin which of course is not the main attraction as I am in my early 20s. However it states that it also 'sweeps away dull cells, improving appearance, tone, texture and radiance from the very first use.'
The product comes in a simple white card box. The squeezy tube is simple, clean and sophisticated. No frills springs to mind. As it a squeeze tube with a small hole you can control how much product comes out, unlike toothpastes where it all just spurts out everywhere. It costs £11 for a 75 ml tube. This is very reasonably priced from an own brand product, compared to the premium micro dermabrasion exfoliators. The product is hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested. I have mildly sensitive skin and so was pleased to hear this.
The instruction states that I should dot the product on my cheeks, chin and forehead and gently massage for a minute. The instruction booklet provided is very handy and informative. It describes exactly how to massage the product onto your skin. So even if you are not a beauty therapist, you can give yourself a beauty treat at home. Afterwords it is recommended to apply sun cream lotion if going outside as the skin will be more sensitive to burning. I instantly felt my skin felt smoother after using this product. I have been using this product for five months now and my skin looks illuminated, healthy and my scars are less apparent. The instructions state to use two-three times a week, but I use once a week or every two weeks.
I am delighted with the product and cannot wait to see the results in the long term. I have not experienced any irritation or redness using this product. I have been told the product lasts ages and I can imagine it does, as I only use a very small amount each time. I would say do not expect miracles with this product compared to chemical peels, it is not an instant fix. But it will definitely improve your skins texture and tone.
I suffered from acne through my teenage years and still have quite a few marks left on my skin, nothing major but I was researching into ways to get rid of the marks and uneven skintone when my sister (who's a Beauty Therapist) suggested microdermabrasion might help. Rather than spend loads of money on professional treatments I decided to try out one of the products I could use at home, so I put No7's Total Renewal Microdermabrasion Exfoliator on my birthday list and luckily someone bought it for me. It costs £11 for a 75ml tube.
It comes in a cardboard box which holds the product and an information leaflet. The leaflet gives you detailed information about the product and how to use it. The exfoliator comes in a pearly white plastic tube that stands on a flip lid. The flip lid makes it easier and more convenient to use than screw on types, and becasue it stands on it's lid it's always ready to use. The packaging is nothing particularly fancy but it does look sufficiently high quality for something of this price.
When you squeeze it out of the tube it looks like a smooth white cream, but if you begin to spread it onto your skin you can see it has tiny grains in it. It doesn't have a strong scent to it, it just has a general light creamy smell.
The leaflet tells you to dot the cream around your face, then work in circles from the middle of your forehead out towards your temples, then from the chin up to the temples, then finish with a few downwards strokes on the nose and chin. Personally I don't find this sufficient to feel that my nose and chin have been exfoliated so I use circular movements there too, just being careful not to overdo it.
When I begin to massage the product in I can feel the grittiness of the grains within it and although they don't feel scratchy I can definitely tell that it would leave my face red-raw if I spent too long massaging it in. It doesn't take long to do my whole face with it (avoiding the eye area - you don't want to exfoliate there!) and then I can just rinse it off with water. It rinses off easily and doesn't leave any grains stuck to my face like some other exfoliators. Even as I rinse it off I can feel how smooth it's made my skin already.
After using it my skin does feel very smooth indeed and although it looks a little pink this dies down quickly (the leaflet does warn you about this so don't worry if you look a little pink!). Although my skin is super smooth I can't say I notice any extra radiance which it also claims it should give. you need to be careful with your skin after using it and make sure you wear at least an spf15 as your skin will be particularly vulnerable after using this.
After using it a few times I did notice that my skin seemed more even and my pores were definitely looking smaller, particularly around my nose where they were quite large due to my oily t-zone. I've now been using it twice a week for around 6 months (and still have barely used any! the tube lasts ages) and although the marks on my skin haven't disappeared they are definitely less noticeable and my skintone overall looks much more even.
I'm impressed with the results this has given and I'm happy to continue using it in the hope that eventually my marks will disappear completely. I'd definitely recommend it.
No.7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator 75ml
£10.75 (which will earn you 40 advantage card points worth 40p)
I love No 7 products and think that this must be one of the only products I have yet to review; surprising really, as it is one of my favourite items!
The exfoliator comes in a tall, thick tube with a flip-top lid. It is a very thick product, almost like a paste, and contains many small, firm particles.
When you rub it into your face, you can really feel it working; it is a little 'scratchy', although not too much that it hurts.
You should gently rub it in with small circular motions for around a minute, and then wash away with warm water (although not too warm as your skin will be sensitive).
You should then moisturise to get the full benefit.
Your skin ends up looking refreshed, clean and clear; it is really effective in exfoliating the skin and really helps to get rid of any dry areas and rough skin.
As it is such a rough product you should only use it once or twice a week. It is rough to use (as all good exfoliators are) although should not irritate your skin at all as it is dermatologically tested and hypo-allergenic, as are all no 7 products.
Overall... it's a great product!
It works really well and using it regularly really does make a difference to your skin.
Yes, it's expensive, although you only use a little each time so it does last ages; I also think that the benefits you get from using this product really make it worth the money.
If you like the sound of it get in quick as boots are giving out those fab No 7 goody bags again, and don't forget your advantage card as the points you make are the equivalent of a 4% discount.
And unlike most other beauty/cosmetics companies, if you are at all unhappy with any No7 product you can return it for a full refund, as long as you have your receipt.
I have not been a huge fan of exfoliating products due to having sensitive skin, but recently I have found a couple of exfoliating products that have worked well on my skin, one of these is No7 Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator. I received this as part of a free No7 gift set and thought I might as well try it out.
This exfoliator comes in the form a cream, I use it mainly on my face. Like most No7 products it has a nice smell to it which is diffficult to describe, but the word sophisticated comes to mind when thinking about it. The cream is in a squeezy tube and is white, the exfoliation bits are so tiny as suggested by the word 'micro', that you can't really see them until to apply it to your skin and start rubbing it in. The good thing about these small bits is that they don't scratch you, unless you really rub it in very hard. It feels as though you've buried your face in the sand, and is very soothing. I like to apply the cream with my fingers, just squeeze a small pea-sized amount out and apply it all over my face and leave it for a few minutes, and then once the cream has been absorbed, I just dust off the exfoliating bits with my hand and apply my usual moisturiser.
One of the things that I really like about this exfoliator is that even if I didn't use a moisturiser afterwards, my skin still feels soft. It definitely leaves your skin feeling softer and cleaner than before, and it also works well toning your skin.
The tube I own is a 25ml tube. I tend to use this once every two weeks, and it has lasted me a good six months so far, and will probably last me another two years or more! So in terms of the lasting factor, I would say it is worth buying. Boots have a 75ml tube at the price of £10.75, which is a lot, but the alternative is to buy a gift set that contains this product among other No7 products. I think the free gift set is worth around £15 to £30, but you only get it free if you spend a certain amount of money, or you can buy it on its own, for around £15. This exfoliator is definitely a product I would recommend, even for those with sensitive skin.
I absolutely love this product! I have just started using this Micro-Dermabrasion exfoliator over the last few months and I think it is absolutely fabulous. I don't have any wrinkles really but I didn't buy this product to use to lessen fine lines and wrinkes.
I have very tempramental, sensitive spot prone skin and I needed an exfoliater to get rid of scars left by spots and also to exfoliate dry skin away because I tend to get patches of dry skin. This product works fantastically for getting rid of both.
I tend to use it about 3 times a week, unless I am having a breakout in which case I avoid using it just incase it aggrevates my skin any further. It keeps my skin tone lovely and even, and leaves my face feeling wonderfully soft and smooth. It is great on my sensitive skin and doesn't leave it red, raw or tight feeling. The grains are really small, so it doesn't scratch your skin at all.
In the evening after I have washed my face I squirt about the size of a 5 pence piece onto my fingertips, dot it around my face and then give it a really good massage with the exfoliator, making sure to give the problem areas a good going over. Then I just rinse my face off with warm water several times to make sure I have removed all of the grains. Then I just pat dry and follow with a good moisturiser.
You hardly need to use any of the exfoliator, as I said just an amount the size of a 5 pence piece is ample and thus, this exfoliator is lasting me for absolutely ages. The exfoliater comes in a 75ml tube and is easy to dispence. The packaging is simple and classy and looks great on the side of your sink.
As with all of the Boots No. 7 range I think it is fantastically priced when you compare the product to more expensive brands and the quality is wonderful, just as good as anything I would buy from Clinique. The price for the 75ml tube is £10.75, and Boots No. 7 is quite often on offer buy 3 for the price of 2 so you can stock up when these offers are on and it's even cheaper.
All in all I would give the Boots No 7. Total Renewal Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator a 10/10 because it is great quality, doesn't scratch your skin, is reasonably priced, leaves your skin soft, smooth and even-toned and does not upset my sensitive skin.
Micro-dermabrasion is a relatively new cosmetic procedure where very small crystals are used to remove the dead outer layer of skin. This can be very expensive to have it done in salons so Boots No.7 has created their own, much cheaper, at home version.
This is presented in standard, simple No7 packaging. The tube is pearly white and stands on its flip top lid. The bottle holds 75ml which lasts ages as you only need a little at a time.
The exfoliator is not some gentle every day scrub. It is the Big Daddy of exfoliators. The cream is white and has loads and loads of tiny hard grains in. It is pretty much fragrance free which I like.
I use this about once a week as it is quite tough, too tough for daily use. I simply wet my face, rub this in using little circles, concentrating on areas that feel a bit rough (my forehead and nose) and wash it off. It is amazing the difference that this makes to my skin. All of my little lumps and bumps and patches of dry skin disappear and smooth skin is left.
As with most No.7 products this is hypo-allergenic which is good, I don't have to worry about my skin not liking it!
I originally got this in one of those No7 goody bags when you spend a certain amount of money on make up. I was so impressed with it that I bought the full size product.
This costs £10.50 but it is much cheaper that other micro-dermabrasion options and as you only use a little once a week or so it doesn't work out as terribly expensive.
I received this as a free tester thing when I spent over £22 in Boots it also came with a variety of other things. Normally I put these in the bin or ignore them, but on one day I had ran out of my exfoliator! So I grabbed this one off my shelf and never looked back, it was fantastic!
My skin felt amazing! and it did not feel greasy afterwards like some exfoliators leave my skin feeling. The next day I brought a full sized bottle and although its not cheap the results are worth the price!
The bottle contains 75ml of exfoliator and it lasts a really long time because you only need to use a small amount.
No7 says it takes about 4 treatments to see an effect but I noticed a difference after only one use!
I will always use No7 as they are trust worthy skin care experts and are often voted no1 which is good enough for me!
The exfoliator targets rough skin and leaves it feeling smoother, it works with lines in your body to help even them out as well as tone them too!
It is advised you follow the instructions, just popping small dots of exfoliator on the skin then using a circular motion to rub the exfoliator in! it is so simple to use! However if you scrub too hard you could find your skin looks a little pink so please do not be too rough! it will hurt!
You do need to take time doing the circular motion this gives you the full benefits and soft silky skin which I believe is what most people want! I know it's what I am always after!!!
If you are not happy with the exfoliator you are using I highly recommend this product at £10.50 it is not the cheapest but it does give you great results in a small amount of time!! The tub also lasts ages!!!!
This is the only microdemabrasion exfoliator I've used so I can't compare to others of this sort, but having used other exfoliators in the past I can say that this is miles better.
A tiny amount is needed per application, and it really does get rid of dead skin and cells to leave smooth and soft skin which feels great. Easy to use; just need to smooth on to the face and wash off after a minute or so, and works wonders.
Skin feels a little dry afterwards but this is easily fixed by using moisturiser.
It is quite expensive at around £15 but often number 7 products have money off, plus it lasts a long time; recommended use is twice a weak and a very small amount is necessary for the whole face; mine last for just less than a year on average, so it ends up very good value for money.
The tube has a nice, fresh appearance which ties in well with the whole product.
I am a very dedicated user of anything Decleor and swear by every product as being the best in it's category. That being said, I rate this so much higher than any exfoliator they have produced or my second favorite Elemis. It is an incredibly densely packed cream exfoliant. The dermabrasion crystals are small and makes it feel a bit like liquid sandpaper. This may sound unpleasant but it is very much like a therapeutic face massage Very little scent and no colour. It is not a bubbling cleanser base as many are which is preferable as you should not be cleansing and exfoliating at the same time.
You only need a pea sized amount massaged into damp skin which means if you use it every other day, it should last you 2 to 3 months. Your skin is left feeling moisturised when the exfoliant is washed off. The only draw back I have found is that because the crystals are tiny it is very hard to wash them all off and I am left with a day at the beach feeling in my mouth sometimes
I like this exfoliator, it looks nice, it smells nice and feels nice. However i tried it on my face and found that it was a little to rough even though i was exfoliating gently. I now use it on my feet and it is really good on tougher areas. My feet do feel a lot softer and less tense but not much difference on appearence on the skin of my feet. I really like the fact that they are lots of beeds in this exfoliator as i find other exfoliators seem to have more cream in them and don't see as if they are an exfoliator! This product doesn't irritate my skin but makes my feet feel fresher. I tend to leave it on for 5 minutes to let it soak into the skin. I would reccomend this to people who want to exfoliate tough skin and wants there skin to feel more refined.
Body Scrub / Works against fine lines, evens out skin tone and leaves skin softer, silky to touch and more refined /
