      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Performs well.

I used to use plain soap and water on my face until my skin started to show signs of sensitivity to the hard soap. I'm also in my mid thirties now so I like to use a softer gel soap that isn't as harsh on my skin. I usually shop in Boots stores for my facial washes because they do a great brand own range and they also have a reward card scheme for which you can collect points whenever you buy. My last few facial wash purchases from Boots have been the Boots Cucumber Facial Wash but on my last visit they didn't have any so I bought this product instead. It's also made by Boots but is called Skin Clear Daily Face Wash. It was £1.50 on a special offer.

The product comes in a 150ml (or 5 US FL. Oz.) sized soft bottle which stands on it's cap to allow for easy use and dispensing. I'm not that keen on the packaging design. It looks a lot like they are aiming for a professional, scientific, high-technology vibe and also that they are emulating similar brands like Clearasil. The label on the bottle is printed with plenty of essential information though. Boots say the facial wash "unclogs pores, reduces excess oil" and is "gentle enough for everyday". They also state the wash gel has been dermatologically tested. Overall the packaging makes it clear that this facial wash is ideal for those who have oily, spotty skin or for those who need to have clearer, more cleansed skin every day.

Directions for use are printed on the back of the bottle. Boots point out that this product is part of a range and that it might be beneficial to use other products in the same range alongside this. You can also get spot gel, mattifying lotion and cleansing lotion.

The flip cap comes open easily and there is a large dispensing hole. I don't need to use much facial wash gel at all. A blob about the size of a large peanut is enough to produce a good lather. I rub this between my hands a little first to avoid it slipping off my palms and fingers.

The gel is transparent has a noticable fragrance which is a little bit floral, sharp and fresh and probably off-putting to gentlemen. I like it though as it is a fragrance that makes you feel clean and refreshed. It also makes you feel like you have pampered your skin. The fragrance lingers after you have dried your skin too, which is pleasant.

The gel lathers very quickly and the foam is very dense and white. It feels soft and creamy on my skin. It doesn't hurt if I get it near my eyes. The gel lather is easy to rinse off. The bubbles slide away and seem to leave a shell like layer of softness and smoothness behind.

After drying my skin feels clean, looks bright and clear and feels soft. Where I normally get a build up of oils in my T-zone I have looked really clear and healthy. The gel is great at removing all traces of make up too. I can use this to freshen up in the morning and at to fully cleanse my face at night. I couldn't ask for more from a facial wash. I'm very happy with the performance of this product and would happily buy it again.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Not a great way to start the day

      ~Reason for buying~

Recently my skin has started to become a little greasy and spotty, so I was on the lookout for a product that would help reduce/prevent this.

I picked this up for around £1.50 in Boots along with the Daily Cleansing lotion from this range.

      ~Product~

The wash is 150ml in quantity and claims to unclog pores, reduce excess oil and is gentle enough for everyday use. The product is gel like, with a medium consistency. The product is colourless and has a strong, unisex, chemically smell. The fragrance is not unpleasant and smells clean and fresh.

      ~Using the product~

The wash is applied to wet hands and face and is evenly and easily distributed around the face. It quickly lathers up - not excessively, but it provides enough foam to allow you to see where you are applying the face wash. I tend to concentrate on the T-zone when washing, as these are the worst areas for oil and after about 20 seconds I wash it off. It is fairly easy to remove, although I do find I blow HUGE bubbles through my nose as I'm washing it off!

      ~Results~

My skin looks clean after using this, but within several minutes my face feels itchy and tight and I just HAVE to slather my face in moisturiser to help stop this. As for any improvement in spots or blemishes, nada. My skins still looks as bad as it did before. I can maybe say there is a little reduction in oil, however.

      ~Overall and recommendation~

I haven't really seen an improvement in my skin condition and it leaves my skin feeling irritated, so I will not be purchasing this again, and I do not recommend it - especially not for sensitive skin!

I give this 2 stars as it perhaps has reduced the excess oil slightly.
