Advantages: Cleans Skin, Cleanses and Tones, Cheap, No Animal Testing
Disadvantages: Not the Best Quality
Whilst in Boots the other day, I was looking for a cleanser that would suit my skin type for a reasonable price. I have experimented with many brands such as Neutrogena in the past and had terrible results, therefore I picked up Boots' own brand Teat Tree and Witch Hazel Cleansing and Toning Lotion. I am used to using Liz Earle's cleanser, therefore this is a lot cheaper and I was not expecting it to do the job well.
The bottle is see through, therefore you can see the clear liquid inside it. The liquid itself is very runny, so watch out when pouring it out. There is a simple sticker on the front detailing the product information, although altogether it is not a particularly attractive bottle.
I suffer from fairly oily skin, therefore tea tree is excellent to help balance the oils, and witch hazel is supposedly great for your skin. I also picked up this particular one because not only is it affordable, it has a lot of added bonuses along with it. Boots state that this cleanser is pH balanced, soap free, non-pore blocking and dermatologically tested. These are all excellent reasons to purchase it, and it is fabulous that no animals are tested on with this product.
To use this, you simply have to turn the bottle upside down and pour a little amount on to cotton wool. You then just have to rub it all over your face for around a minute. I find that when you are soaking the cotton wool, a lot of liquid pours out at once, so be sure that you do not drip it everywhere or you will end up losing a lot of cleanser! Once applied directly to the skin, it feels very cool and relaxing, and really feels as if your skin is being cleaned effectively. It is excellent at removing face make up, however I would not recommend using it as a make up remover on its own. Try not to get this near your eyes because it really stings when it gets into them, so do not try rubbing off eye make up with this for safety reasons. Once you have finished cleansing your face, you will tell from the cotton wool that it has really got deep into your pores and scrubbed out lots of dirt from within the skin, leaving it nice and fresh.
After using this product daily for a few weeks now, I am very happy with how well it has performed, and overall, my skin looks in a much better condition and I am now less prone to breakouts. I do find though if I skip a day of cleansing, my skin will start to become spotty, so just make sure you are strict with your cleansing routine.
Please note that if you have sensitive skin, this is probably not the best product for you, and you should instead look for a product that is designed specifically for sensitive skin. Also, many people have before stated that this cleanser may dry your skin out. I have quite oily skin and it works fine for me, therefore I would only recommend this to people who suffer from oily skin.
If you are interested in picking up Boots' Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion, it is available from Boots' stores or online at www.boots.com for £3.49, and you can also check out the rest of the range there too. It is usually on 2 for £5 which is a bargain so it may be worth picking up a couple of bottles!
I would really recommend trying this product out for a budget cleanser, and it might not work to the quality of premium cleansers, but I am happy with the results for such a cheap price. Plus, it means you do not have to buy a toner separately, as this is built in. Two for the price of one, score! Thanks for reading.
Summary: Great budget cleanser and toner.
